So for those of you who holiday here 2 [times] a year, go start your own poll ... preferably one in which the name of the country is capitalized.

Maybe next time I'll start one about how pedantic some posters can be. Really in the grand scheme of things does it really matter about a capital T to you.(Nothing worse than grammer trolls)

If I would have put 2 weeks a year then 1 then 7 days it  would have gone on forever. Please accept my apologies for excluding you on your 2 holidays a year..

  2. With lots of questions and threads appearing with reference to Thailands infrastructure and laws. I thought it might be interesting to see the demographics of Thai visa's posters.

I realize as it's a anonimous forum it would not act as any form of bench mark in threads or questions asked.

It would however be interesting to see the demographics.

I would ask if you could answer truthfully, no one would know your where abouts.  Please feel free to comment if required

  3. Op chill out. There are many people who marry here who use the Extension method and therefore never use or probably see after the day a kor ror 2. They just get the wedding pack given store it away and pull out the fancy marriage certificate document (as you call it) every now and then. Don't have to threaten to kill someone or ridicule them.

I'm at a loss why they would want the origional and the updated version there both the same with a diffrent date on the updated document which is the one proves your still married. But again did they specifically asks for them? Thanks

You guys do not get it, ears do not fall a sleep never.   So, when ever your ear hears something it automatically send signals to the brain etc, I hope I made my case clear. Thanks in advance for those who can understand

Oh yes clear as custard. Some strange world you live in.

I bet you English is not your native language and fyi I live here.

Again you would be wrong. I expect your the grammer police?

If you re read my post you will see I have already corrected my (predictive text) mistakes. But you was just to quick of the mark.

  6. All this rubbish. Way back when I was at school I had to learn French and German. I presume a lot of you on here did as well. Hated it at the time but glad of it over the years. I lived in Malta for 5 years. Just about everyone spoke English, but I took the time to learn Maltese why beacuse I lived there. I took time to learn Thai it's a really hard language to learn I agree I wouldn't say I'm fluent but can hold my own and it will only get better with practise. Why did I beacuse I live  here simple really. So while people who can't be bothered to learn thai have to rely on gf/bf/husband/wife to translate  everything and live in there own enclosed world. I can do things for myself as I've always done.

Correct me if I am wrong but English is the world communication language not local languages!?

OK you are corrected. English is the buisness language of the world to a point.local language a place you are living in (maybe your not but I am) English is not the as you say the world communication language on the street.

  8. Over the years this particular subject has surfaced in many Expat forums all over the world.

My conclusion on the subject is quite simple.

Arrogant English speaker move to a country and expect the locals to go out and learn English. Why! That's easy to its the I'm better than them syndrome.

You are in KK, that's not BKK city where loads of tourists come shopping and the staff can't speak english to them...ALL malaysians can speak good english, also i haven't spotted one poking their nose or standing in the walkway.

If you can't speak thai while living in KK it would be very hard to live.

Last year or so i read that Thailand wanted to be the hub for disposable bags made from sugarcane, what happened to that big plan?

No idea what your on about. My point is i learned the laungage so i dont have to hunt around for an english speaker oh and by the way many staff in bkk speak English beacuse they could be bothered to learn it. Over to those in KK us it nearly imposible to live here not speaking thai.!!

Right those of us on non-o visa extensions have to report to immigration every 90 days.  If you're not on an extension of your non-o visa than you're required to leave the country every 3 months instead, but most people on non-o visas just walk back and fourth across the border within like an hour depending on how long the line is at the border checkpoint.  I did that every 3 months for my first year here.  If you are on a one year visa extension obviously you would know.  If not if you are just on a non-o visa with no extension then your stamp in your passport will tell you when you have to cross the border.  The good thing about getting extensions is that you can just keep getting your visa extended every year for as long as you want to stay without ever having to leave Thailand as long as you keep your visa extension updated every year and valid.

If you are on a visa extension than you would most definitely know, if you are not then check your stamp in your passport it'll tell you the date that you are required to leave the country.

I fully inderstand the diffrence. The op clearly states he's on a non o visa based on marriage so unless he is quoting the wrong terminology  he is on overstay.

Yes, I have been asked for 500 baht for the "proof of residence", before I had a "yellow book". I didn't pay. And asked a few times by Udon and Nonk Kai imm for 100 baht tip.

Khun korn chatikavanij did send a team to sort out Khon Kaen Immigration. Search his name for his facebook page to see, WE CAN make a difference.

For your information kk didn't and doesn't need sorting out stick with your immigration office seems that's where your beef is keep the fall out there not in places you obviously don't use but try to take based on hearsay. Will ask around today to see what this "team" did not that he has any authority anyway. What is your beef with Immigration?? The real beef not the odd money for cert of residence ect. Might help us understand your agenda.

Im sure the question asked was does the poster require a copy of the Laos visa. 10 yards over the rd there is a facility ti supply this. If required.

Yes and it then headed to other documents. When you read posts about this subject usually 1 or 2 a month other posters mention things they say they needed better to go prepared one thinks.

I know of nobody in the UK that would use an accountant to file a tax return other than for the sole reason of saving you money. Very few people other than self employed get a tax return to file in the UK anyway. Maybe different in the US, I have no idea.

You know one now when I payed tax in the UK I always used an accountant saves lots of time lots of hassle and they know the system back to front on what's legal and what's not. Or in simpler terms what I could write off against work and what I couldn't.
