I just love the dichotomy here between these "Smart" bus stops with all their technology and then you get on a non-aircon bus with wooden floors and wobbly ceiling fans. Pretty much a metaphor for the whole country.

As others mentioned - It's all about loss of face now this is a big story in the media. Before it was just a story for a day or two and then gone, now it's an every day story that doesn't seem to end. Keep up the pressure.
Very similar to the Praewa girl situation. Story would pop up every now and then for a day or two and then go away. Until the victim's families got a good lawyer and the press started hammering the fact the family never paid their debts. The publicity shamed the Na Ayudhya clan and they forced the family to pay.

I just hope that Thais start boycotting this companies products, expats won't really move the needle on this. If the group's sales are down even 20% that will put a dent in their wallets.
This sort of pressure worked before with that despicable girl who caused that fatal minivan crash, it can work again.

Very interesting family, that one. Par for the course in these matters.

Couple of points:
- Cohen was thrown back in jail for violating his house arrest provisions after he was photographed eating dinner out at a restaurant for hours with another couple. When he was later given the opportunity for electronic monitoring he balked, at which time he was put back in jail. I don't see how this is political - he violated the terms of his parole and had it revoked.
- Cohen was Trump's fixer, not official lawyer, so he handled the sleazy aspects of the business deals a respectable lawyer would not touch. I am sure he has some stories, but I doubt there is anything earth shattering. I have worked with some of Trump's external lawyers and they are top notch professionals. Cohen is basically a cheap version of Saul Goodman.
- This whole mess is political and it's useless to argue otherwise. I find it very interesting that the left embraces dirt bags like Bolton and Cohen because it serves their purposes. Bolton is a hard-core neo-conservative who has nothing in common with folks on the left, while Cohen is a sleazy lawyer who makes money from abusing immigrants (look up his taxi medallion business to see). Next time choose your saviors a bit more wisely - just saying.

Just a case of the right hand not knowing what the right hand is doing.
Is there anyone in charge at all in this country?
-
Phnom Penh is a mess. Massive overdevelopment by the Chinese - their money, their workers, their buyers. So many of the beautiful old houses have been torn down in BKK1 and replaced by ugly new buildings with nobody inside. There is virtually no planning, so traffic is a nightmare and the roads are are in horrible condition.
Similar scenes are happening in Siem Reap and S'ville. It is going to be one big mess when the bubble bursts.

Why do I keep reading comparisons with Cambodia?
Cambodia will never be able to compete with Thailand on any meaningful level as it is too mired in corruption and now completely owned by the Chinese.
Thailand is experiencing the same issues as Cambodia. Corruption in Thailand is as bad as ever, the Military effectively controls all the levers of power. Both governments are de-facto dictatorships, although Hun Sen is far more entrenched than Prayut but he is catching up fast. The Chinese are the major power players in Cambodia with almost all the new development and almost total control over many tourism businesses in Siem Reap and S'ville. Chinese investment in Thailand is also substantial between both public and private. With the use of Thai nominees, it is vastly under-reported and growing rapidly.
While Thailand is far ahead of Cambodia, the danger is not that Cambodia catches up, rather that Thailand slides back. I feel that is a very real possibility.

The same as studies showing car accidents are most likely to happen within a close proximity to home. Simply because that's where most people spend the most time.
If people spent most of their time in a popcorn factory, it's likely that would be the location for most infections. Some scientist would try to prove the causality between popcorn and the virus.

I will not shed a tear for a few of those courses in the BKK area that charge non-Thais a higher rate. Not to name names, but it sounds like scmheen malley.

They forgot to include the fact that in a recent poll 95% of Thai people don't want foreign tourists. I guess that muddies the message.

Considering the recent poll that 95% of Thais don't want foreign tourists, I would think he should be happy with that forecast. (Sarcasm Alert!)
It's really astonishing that the government "produced" that poll, yet the country is so heavily dependent upon foreigners. Must stoke that xenophobia to prevent the masses from blaming the current government's mismanagement.

Makes no reference at all to your claim. It does reference though to RBG having cancer.
Nah Hey and Goodbye. Nothing else mentioned, certainly not the word cancer. Perhaps English isn't your first language.
As others pointed out, I am looking forward to her exiting the Supreme Court so there will be someone who doesn't legislate from the bench as she is wont to do.
And I certainly remember the absolute joy from liberal/progressives when Scalia died and they thought Obama could shift the court to the left.
So please, you and others, spare me the outrage.

From what I understand there is a 14-day incubation period from exposure to actually developing sickness, so it could take someone 14 days to develop illness after being exposed. Thus these tests need to be repeated to ensure that nobody exposed was infected.
But as well all know, that will not happen. Thailand can say "All is well, get back to work" and ignore this situation. This way nobody in the military or government gets in trouble and they can continue the farce that Thailand is virus free.
Just this week the NY Times put our a story about how Thailand has succeeded without actually knowing why. It wasn't until the last two paragraphs the writer mentioned the cases of Burmese and Cambodians returning home from Thailand and testing positive. Also mentioned in the last paragraph was the abysmal rate of testing done in Thailand. Perhaps that's the so-called Secret to Thailand's Success. Don't Test, Don't tell.

I’m not sure I understand why they would penalize the airlines, if it was their own people? Are other countries supposed to take care of them until they are healthy and COVID free? It’s the Chinese responsibility, so why penalize the airlines-they started this by not reporting it immediately
As with many things involving Thailand and China these days, nothing in this story makes any sense.
-China has a VERY strict ban on foreigners entering the country, so it's unlikely they were Thai nationals onboard.
-The flight plans have never been explained with any degree of coherent logic.
-As you mention, why penalize the carriers when it was purportedly a charter flight and should not be their responsibility for passenger selection.
My guess would be a repatriation flight with a stop in BKK to pick people up, who were the infected ones. But both the Thai and Chinese governments don't want to implicate each other - so we get this craziness and they hope it will all fade away.

Exactly! Finally someone speaking the truth. He might also add that Thailand's oligopoly markets retard growth, as the established companies are less likely to innovate and compete since they effectively own the market. Vietnam while still under government control in many industries, has a very healthy competitive market not ruled by very few extremely wealthy families.
The Vietnamese are some of the hardest workers with a strong desire to create wealth. Young Vietnamese have hope for the future and see a path to success, while many young Thais have given up due to the current government and the perception the game is fixed against them. Corruption, while present, is far less endemic than Thailand, and the VN government actually does punish those it catches.
If they were to move away from a socialist repressive government, Vietnam could easily become the next South Korea or Taiwan. While Thailand will continue to spin its wheels going from ineffective government to military coup to ineffective government.

But the government has been using the media for months now to scare everyone into behaving and following their directives (often misguided) so that Thailand would become virus free. Now that HIS people screwed up, he wants to muzzle the media and claim it's not a big deal.
He can't have it both ways, even though that's the typical behavior from this crowd in all their dealings.
Time for you to man up Prayut and take responsibility. The loss of face would be astonishing.

And the government tools made such a big production about the US Military visit last week with all the testing and precautions they enforced. Yet the Egyptians were left alone to go about on their own.
I hope the US General takes note of this mess and tells Thailand to pee off in the future.
Once again the Thai Military screws things up. First the boxing match and now this fiasco.

Wow, with website design like this it is no wonder that Somkid was pressing the US Ambassador to help turn the Thailand into another Silicon Valley. Truly great work guys all the tech giants will come running to Thailand once they see this site.
Seriously I bet if they hired some 15-yr old kid they would get better results.
