Change the word "girl" to whore in your title. Then change the words "she" and "her" to the phrase "this whore" in your post. Then read it all back to yourself. That should be enough to get you through this dilemma.

    Judgemental, harsh and unfair.

But if you follow the above instructions I guarantee a good laugh. Thank you csabo I needed that!

People in the world seem to be becoming a bit more self-involved. Instead of playing team sports, they will go to a gym and stare at themselves for a couple hours. No surprises that they will then go home and fix up their hair to stare at themselves for a bit longer. Maybe take a few selfies.

Agree, girls look better without make up. Also, many Thai haven't learnt the skill of applying it. The Mrs just ends up looking like a clown.

You're absolutely right. Many girls here look ridiculous with make-up on, but most of them would probably look great if only they could apply it with slightly more skill than a 6 year old.

Usually, in order to get a work permit in the first place, you must show a minimum salary level. Obviously, this does not apply if working for an NGO, but there is no indication that the OP's friend was doing that.

Nonsense. There is no minimum salary requirement to get a work permit.

And double nonsense - we're talking about the end of employment, not the start!

You're saying it's risky to stop paying tax when you quit a job and I'm saying there's obviously no tax to pay if you're not earning any money!

If her current permission-of-stay is a stamp from entering the country on a "Visa" obtained at a consulate abroad, then she can stay until Sept 5th.

If her current permission-of-stay is an extension of stay from Immigration, then it ended the day she left work.

Correct about the differences between an actual visa and a visa extension and yes it is important in this case.

But sorry not correct about extensions automatically being cancelled when you finish a job. I can tell you from prior experience that this is not the case. It seems to be entirely up to your employer if they choose to report the end of your employment to immigration or not.

If you left your job on good terms then I would recommend talking with your ex-employer and asking them not to bother reporting it so you can see out the duration of your visa.

    (Edit: sorry "your friend")

500 Baht Jomtien. Just befor the turning to Tonys gym and the tax office. They do test for syphillis.

Went with this one in the end. Very easy to find from those directions, thank you.

Name is Chanya Medical Centre. Usually 500 baht for the whole list including syphilis, but I didn't know my blood type so they charged an extra 300 for a blood test.

Despite that test, I was in and out in under 5 minutes. While I was there a Japanese man came in for the same thing and was there only 2 minutes, 500 baht, no blood test.  I suspect they wouldn't have done any test at all if I'd only known my blood type.

    Great recommendation - thanks again.

  6. Yes you can and you should . I have done this a few times as DHL Thailand and Thai customs are a bunch of scammers working together to rip good people off. Disgusting corrupt behaviour and nobody should accept it.

    Return to sender, every time.

People power can change these things , but there doesn't seem to be an appetite to tackle problems in Thailand.

Yes! You are spot on with that observation.

This applies to thousands of things in Thailand that could be improved if the people only gave a toss. Very sad and frustrating to see how they just sit back and accept poor service and low quality of just about everything.

Take the ingredients to the repair shop. Load them into the machine there. Tell them you will come back in 5 hours to collect your machine - and your perfectly baked loaf of bread.

Great idea thank you. Unfortunately it turns out they don't do the repairs there but send it to Bangkok to be fixed. Collected it today and will test it tomorrow. If it doesn't work I'll try my luck exchanging it at Robinsons

This is why I always buy from Tesco or BigC, or even the expensive department stores. Their customer service is superb. Take it back, refund.

I bought some shoes from one of those places, took them back and got a refund.

That might be worth a try! Thank you.

  10. It's a bread cooking machine and the device that adds ingredients towards the end of cooking has failed. Takes about 4-5 hours for this to activate.

Would like to wait until I get home and test it but that's a 4 hour round-trip. And I know it's broken because it worked perfectly for months then failed 4 times in a row, and the shop said they have not fixed anything.

Did not deliberately wait 2 months, I just have a very busy life.

Anyway, the point is I can smell the usual BS run-around coming and wondering if anyone has any suggestions how to avoid it?

  11. Bought an expensive kitchen appliance from Robinsons, it worked perfectly for 3-4 months then suddenly broke.

Took it back to Robinsons they said take it to manufacturer's repair shop. Repair shop said no problem, it has a one year warranty, we'll fix it and call you to collect in about 2 weeks.

2 months later I start wondering where it is and call the shop. They say it was never broken and works perfectly, and I must be using it wrong.

So that means either they haven't tested it fully and found the fault, or they have found the fault but can't fix it and are trying to save face. Grrrr.

That's the situation as it stands today. I'm sure that when I get it home it will still be broken and knowing Thailand I'm sure I'm about to be given the run-around.

Any suggestions of the best way to proceed from here?

Unfortunately I can't show them the fault in the shop as it requires hours and ingredients to demonstrate.

you may like the smell (most of my thai friends dont like durian or the smell) but the general consensus is that it is by many considered an unpleasant smell, i have seen hotels and guest houses not allowing durian in rooms, i have seen it removed from buses and aircraft. exact venues, dates and times dont spring to mind but anyone spending time is thailand will, i'm sure, know this to be the case.

Agreed. Seen it banned in many places, even rental cars!

Never a problem here never a missed parcel, EMS or not.. strange that we have such different experiences. I do receive loads of parcels from ebay and just from my dad. Maybe its location related.

Must be. I also had zero problems for a few years until I moved house.
