You don't need a lawyer to take this to court. It is only about the paperwork. If she is Thai it will be easy for her to read what paperwork she needs and do it all by herself.
"A contested divorce, i.e. dissolution of the marriage by the judgment of the court in Thailand, will take considerably more time, money and requires several court appearances and representation of a Thai lawyer."

Hi I am posting on behalve of a friend. She is a farmer with very little funds for lawyers and courts. She married a French national 8 years ago and after a few months the guy left for Canada after a fight and cut off all direct contact with her and they have been separated since. She asked multiple times for a divorce and he refused saying it was her problem now. He is now currently in a Canadian prison for pretty bad offenses so no chance of him returning to sign the paper at the amphur so this means going to court. Lawyers are admitting this is a very easy case as no children are involved and the length of time but are still quoting 30,000+ not including court fees and translations. Surely there is a law in Thailand that stops this happening or some form of free legal aid? If you can't afford the fees you are forced to be in a marriage for eternity? Is there any other options she could use?

obviously some people are not reading between the lines....... closing a door is not temporarily closing a business...... accountants still get paid, tax is still paid, social security for staff who are not working.

Hi i was wondering if anybody knew if it was possible to temporarily close your company with whats going on at the moment and leave it dormant until we are ready for business again. We run a hotel and do not have any customers for the foreseeable future so if its possible we would like to shut down for maybe 8 months and then reopen. Has anybody done this and how do i go about doing this?

It falls under "Front shop sales" as customer service. You could possibley see some at desks now that are under different rules since they are from neighboring countries under a MOU that are allowed to do it.
As said most you have probably seen are working in management positions.
Understood, the "farang" seen behind counter must be managing the thai staff. There must be a different set of rules for Burmese and laos workers behind reception.

They have a work permit and the job is not on the restricted list as far as i can tell but the list is very vague on hospitality.

Hello recently my accountant told me i would not be able to have any foreign staff working behind reception as it is against the law. Does anybody have any information to confirm this as i see this in hotels all the time? Cheers

As far as I'm aware age doesn't come into it for marriage or dependent children. Some will pop 9n and give you exact details
Most embassy websites don't list an age but my local immigration office told me 20 is the maximum age. No office is the same as the last so thought id try my luck since i have heard of peoples parents managing to get the same sort of visa. I would be a follower on my dads business visa and work permit.
