  1. Why don't Thai immigration insist that at least 65,000 be deposited in a Thai bank every month? The evidence of that is the bank passbook. If you miss a month ........ no extension. Why should it matter to them how much you earn?  Isn't it about bringing the dollars into a Thai bank.
If it's the combination method , then the amounts can easily be worked out.
Proof of foreign exchange coming in should be all that matters to the Thai authorities.

Because you and I could each send 65,000 to each other every month.. effectively just moving the same 65,000 around each month.
  2. The only proof of income accepted by immigration is a statutory declaration done at the Canadian embassy. They want back up proof when you do the declaration. Not sure what the want for the proof.
If you were legally working here with a work permit immigration would accept tax payments receipts as proof of the income.

    Thanks.

Or I can just show proof of 400,000 in Bangkok Bank that is soley in my name?

No need to go to my Embassy if I choose this route?
  3. I just got married and have the Thai marriage certificate. I just got a 60 day extension of stay due to marriage, having a tourist visa.

I cannot meet the financial requirements, so it looks like savanakhet is the best bet for me as I have no problem leaving the country every 90 days.

Is there a significant risk savanakhet changes their rules for the multi entry marriage visa in the next 60 days and thus requires financial proof?

  4. I went on the 8th Feb to Vientiane with ThaiVisaService.   The consulate was packed with people.

All of us got Tourist visas without any problem at all (I'd say there were 40 people with our visa company, and at the border probably 300 people waiting for it to open)

Mixture of Japanese, Brits, Russians and other Eastern Europeans, an American and a Canadian guy.   All young people.

ThaiVisaService shills out en force tonight it seems.
  5. The embassy will ask for proof of your income.

    Thanks.

What is the definition of income?

Could I not just deposit 45,000 thb equivelent into my Canadian bank, then withdraw it a few weeks later and repeat this process each month?

    Would this satisfy the requirements?

Or do they want to see pay stubs and tax return etc.

  6. You would have to do a affidavit (statutory declaration) stating your income at the embassy. The affirmation of permit to marry would not be accepted to prove your income.

    OK thanks.

This document is called marriage affidavit and contained within I am also swearing my income is X, employer is Y and occupation is Z listed at a specific address.

But you are saying this is not sufficient and I need another declaration.

To get this letter you advise i must get, must I show proof of income at the Canadian Embassy?

    Thanks again.
  7. I was writing about getting a one year extension of stay at immigration not  about getting a multiple entry non-o visa since that is what this topic is primarily about.
Not all embassies and consulates will issue a multiple entry non-o visa even with financial proof. Penang would accept a income affidavit to get a non-o visa.

Ok so i should be indifferent towards applying for a non o visa in either Penang or Savanakhet since I do have the income affidavid?

And the affidavid i have is a marriage affidavid which just happened to ask me my income and occupation. Is this sufficient or is there a more specific affidavid?
  8. A income affidavit proving more than 40k baht will be accepted. No need for bank statements. If the income affidavit is in English it does not need to be translated.
Immigration will accept a income affidavit that is up to 6 months old.

I was planning to go to Savanakhet since they dont require financial proof.. But does this mean I can go to any Thai consulate outside of the country and get a marriage visa with only the income affidavid?
  9. There is no immigration office in Fang. You can only use the office in Chiang Mai.
A once a year visit to immigration in my opinion would be better than traveling to Savannakhet to get a new visa and then having to do border hops every 90 days for a new entry.
Not sure what the latest is about what time you need to be at immigration in Chiang Mai. Your wife or another person could do the wait in line for you while wait somewhere more comfortable until they start handing  out numbers.

For the once a year visit to immigration, is an income affidavid greater than 45,000 translated and stamped by the MFA sufficient? Or are bank statements needed?

Also does the translated income affidavid from Canadian embassy expire after a certain amount of time?
  10. The fee for a single is 2000 baht and a multiple 5000 baht.
A multiple entry visa allows unlimited 90 day entries for a year from the date of issue.
Any type entry can be extended for 60 days to visit your wife with no financial proof.

    Thanks.

Do I need proof of residence? If so, what does this form look like? Is it just a letter from the wife saying I live with her?
  11. You will be applying for a  non-o visa based upon marriage. Single or multiple entry.
You will need a signed copy of her house book registry as well as the ID card.
No financial proof will be needed. I have never seen a report of Mukdahan wanting to see the 20k baht when you enter there.

I assume single entry is cheaper?

And multi gives me 90 days plus ability to get 60 day extension without showing financial proof?
