Firstly, you should never hit a woman. And if she try to provoke you, you should have walked away and gone to another bar - you're an IDIOT !!
Not replying to anyone in particular Mr Zovox, but I know why I do not spent much of my time on this board, a sad bunch of judgemental people here.
Some of you are trully bad examples of human beings.
Have a nice 2548 though

I am not an expert here (others will correct me if I am wrong)
You can a) apply for a non-immgrant visa in LA based on your retirment income or bank balance of at least 800k equivalent or combination. That will allow you to stay for 90 days. One month before expiration go an immigration office to obtain a one year extension. You will need a certifcate from US embassy certifying your retirement income or/and showingh money in a thai bank plus medical certificat delivered by thai hospital showing good health.
obtain O-A visa from LA, with notarised police report and income statement/bank guarantee of available funds in Us bank. This will allow you stay one year on arrival.
You will need re-entry permits to leave/return 1000 baht each or 3800 for multiple
In both cases you need to report to authorities every 90 days showing residency

Check out George's list of phone numbers: Immigration phone numbers
Seems like Ranong would be your best bet. I believe these are all full service immigration offices and would be able to do your retirement extension.
Do you live in Lang Suan? My hubby has alot of relatives out that way. Lovely area. But probably closer to Surat than Chumpon town.
Will give Ranong imm office a call to find out.
i
Not Lang Suan, Thung Wua Laen, 15km North of Chumpon.
I think Lang Suan is halfway Chumpon Surat, been there once.
There are some nice areas out here, some really remote from western commodities, the Chumpon "shopping mall" is a joke....

Living in Chumpon, where to go for retirement extension?
I have a stamp in TM card valid until 23 feb 2005 and non-imm O visa expiring 21 dec 2004.
Bangkok is 500km away, Phuket 400, Surat 200, Ranong 120.
Not clear what services these immigration offfices are offering...
-
The older, and still used method is to obtain a 90 day stamp and extend your stay inside Thailand at immigration after funds are deposited here.
and the requisite finance in a bank in Thailand after that first year.
Well spot on that "deposited here" means Thailand

I did try this at the Brussels embassy 2 week ago though, but looking at my passport with a valid multiple entries non-immigrant O until 21 dec 2004 they told me to get a police report and retirement income statement translated and legalised and get the extension in Bagkok.....
Valid until 21 December 2004 cannot be right for a multi O
Seems to me Mr Pong, you are doing your best to upset people on this board.
Why, in your opinion, could my multi O valid until until dec 21 2004, not be right???
Do you know more than I do? good for you.
I am not going through the trouble of posting a dig photo (I could though) of my visa issued in Brussels 22 dec 2003, Type of visa: Non-immigrant, Category O, No. of entry:Multiple, fee: 120 euro, but tell me, what's wrong with it????
No cheers here, getting upset....
And please leave the ballast of quoting every post completely out, it's much of a pain to the eyes

From the Royal thai embassy Brussels Belgium:
Iii. Channels To Submit Visa Application
Applicants can submit their applications both at the Thai embassy / consular missions where they have their permanent residence or at the Office of the Immigration Bureau in Thailand. (Address : Section 1, Sub-Division 1, Immigration 1, Immigration Bureau, Soi Suan Plu, off South Sathorn Road, Sathorn District, Bangkok 10120. Telephone 287-4948 (direct line) or 287-3101-10 ext. 2236)
Applications from aboard.
Visa applications to be submitted at a Thai Embassy or Consulate overseas must include the following documents:
- A visa application form.
- Acopy of passport or travel document valid for not less than 1 year and 6 months.
- Evidence of a personal bank account holding the equivalent of not less than 800,000 baht or personal monthly income of not less than 65,000 baht or the combined total of a personal bank account and salary [(monthly income) x 12] equivalent to not less than 800,000 baht.
A Thai Embassy or Consulate will forward copies of the documents requested above to the Immigration Bureau for consideration.
The Immigration Bureau will inform the Visa and Travel Documents Division, Department of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the results of the application within 7 working days. The Foreign Affairs Ministry will then pass on the application results to the embassy or consulate concerned.
Applications from within Thailand
Visa applications submitted within Thailand fall into 3 categories:
>>>etc etc
I did try this at the Brussels embassy 2 week ago though, but looking at my passport with a valid multiple entries non-immigrant O until 21 dec 2004 they told me to get a police report and retirement income statement translated and legalised and get the extension in Bagkok.....
And I do know of at least 3 guys who got their O-A from a USA consulate
When they re-enter Thailand after a trip they noticed the new entry stamp was for an other year (They posted this on an other board)
Hope this helps....off to Bangkok tomorrow...

See Paraglider's comment.
I live here around Chumpon, no safety problems whatsoever.
These paragliders are still around having fun, looks difficult though....

Are back to back 30 day visas still available for an American with 10,000 baht in pocket? If so is there any limit to the number of times he can do this? Do travelers checks count if they require him to show cash? Mai Sai still ok?
A search on here will answer all of your questions.
Very helpful answer indeed

It is the law.

I went to the Thai embassy in Brussels yesterday with proof of income, police report etc and they refused to give me an O-A
You have an O in your passport, go to Bangkok and ask for extentson there, was their reply. Since I live in Chumpon it would have been easier to get an O-A here in Brussels than spend some days in Bangkok.
The lady made a remark about people staying in Thailand longtime and "not following the rules". Sure when you make things more complicated more people will not follow the rules.
She told me I needed to have the police report translated to Thai and translate/notarize my income statement at the Belgian embassy in Bangkok AND better put 800k baht in a Thai bank account....
-
Astral,
I have an O still valid until 22 dec.
What you say is ask Belgian embassy in Bangkok to certify the pension (and that would be drawn up in English?) Not sure staff there master dutch! and ask for a 1 year extension in Bangkok together with a medical certificate?
I do have a bilingual (english-thai) medical certificate from my docter here (idea was to hand over to thai embassy in Belgium) would they accept that in bkk?
I live in Chumpon, a long way from bkk, I hope it can all be done in one trip.

I have a multiple entries Non-immigrant O visa in my passport expiring 22 december and leaving to LOS 25 nov for 3 to 6 months escaping from Belgian winter.
I thought asking for an O-A retirement visa before leaving and requested a criminal record from the local police. That document was not ready when they promisedit would be this week, I will have it on monday 15 nov and it will be drawn up in Dutch.
I also have a document in Dutch from the social security department stating my impairment income, which is +65.000 baht and I am way over 50 years young.
I tried to telephone the Thai embassy, sent them an email at no avail.
Will they accept these documents written in Dutch or do they need to be translated to English or Thai? I might be running out of time for translation work.
My options are:
a) obtain O-A in Brussels
go with actual O visa and obtain 1 year extension in BKK, in which case I need to have the social security income document translated to thai and certified by the local embassy or load my thai bank account to 800.000 baht, which I do not fancy but doable (I will bring 500.000 with me)
c) ask the Brussels embassy for a new multiple non immigrant visa and do one visa run in februari
Thanks for advice
-
I know a belgian guy who is just doing that, getting a new stamp every 25 days.
Wouldn't it make more sense to just get yourself a multiple entry visa according to the objecive of your stay? Tourism, retirement, work?
your last question: how long stay outside Thailand?
5 minutes will do....

No different from the west really.
I had these neighbours. The young man went to work every morning.
One morning the lady had her her parents and a truck at home.
They emptied the appartment and disappeared.
I watched the poor young man coming home after his working day and crying on the front steps of his door.

Yep, it's named "Thai script" but it doesn not run under Win XP (old stuff)
Unless they made a new version. Recommended min config on CD is Intel 486...

Red,
Please buy a travel guide, eg the dreadfull Lonely Planet, by a guy named Joe Cummings who thinks he knows it all, but there you will find all info you need on hotels, food, travel, girls, AIDS etc.
LOS for Land Of Smiles is paradise for someone in need of a temporary companion, but you are free to travel on your own. Staying alone will be difficult however.
Enjoy your trip over here. I do not live near Bangkok and as such can not be of much help to you.
-
Have a look at http://www.travel-online.to/srt/index.htm
you can enter departure/destination town and find hours trains leaving/arriving.
You can opt for aircon or fan second class. Some find aircon too cold, difficult to recommend, but better choose lower berth.
Do not book on the sprinter (I think that the last train leaving Bangkok), that's fine for day travel, airplane style seats, very bad for sleeping, no berths.

Nevertheless thousands of houses have been built with farang money. Not a Win/Win situation for both parties. The farang is the looser.
Thank you vely mut.

"Connell had travelled from Britain to the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai before flying to Bangkok. He was caught on his way out of Thailand through Bangkok after a tip-off, a statement said. "
He was on his way OUT of Thailand and tipped of, probably by the bad guys he bought the yaba from. They get double pay: for ther drugs and denouncing the stupid boy and maybe they get the dope back to sell it again

Nah, I saw a lot of "scum" beggin in SFO's streets lately.
Not the niciest city on the planet to have a walk, I feel saver here in LOS, incidentally not Pattaya but Chumpon, the most important place in LOS, luckily I was spared from all the idiot APEC stuff, except the Royal barges on TV that is.

>So far, the company – launched in October – has sold about 300 of the million-baht cards, most of them to people living overseas.
Who are those 300 people ? just curious...
It seems we will never be allowed to own land in this country.
Very sad attitude indeed.
