  1. I pay nationwide building society £15 a month to waiver all transaction costs on the uk side,i used to work abroad most of the year & spend 5 month in thailand,i have a bangkok bank & kasikorn bank account,i would put B30000 a month in the kasikorn account inside the bank from my nationwide account.....charge B30 & no charges from uk,they stopped me doing that as thy weren't making money,

  2. I stopped in suvannabum on me way to kl,you have to go through passport control & get your baggage & flight,i have had lots of visas & thought wouldn't let me in but did,i put on staying 4-5 hours but they gave me 30 days,i lost my onward flight ticket when i was filling the form out so went to thai airways office ( who i was flying with) & explained, the sourfaced woman demanded B8000 for another ticket,i told her where to go in my pigeon thai & booked another flight online about B1200

  4. Anybody remember the hand written poster at padang besar, must of been there (or moved to the new station)since the early 70's,telling that you need to have so many dollars for individuals & families, then it went on to dress code,no flipflops & hippy looks (ie.scruffy) there was more but cannot remember,it was taken down about 6 years ago,i did have a photo of it,if anyone has a pic of it,post it to me,it was funny as fk & blatantly discriminating

  5. Best way to get a setv without showing the money is enter thailand on 30 day exempt with the appropriate requirements, fly to Kuala Lumpur on the last day & apply at the thai consular there, they don't bother with the bank statements unless it's changed, worth a try nothing to lose, that way you will have 120? Days in thailand with the 30 day extension at the local immigration,

this has always been a bit of a sticking point with me and over the years I only did Visa Exempt and a few times got the 30 day extension or did a visa run which can be challenging these days.  My work schedule was tough to predict, and I balk at the idea of buying a plane ticket, only to then find out for some reason that the Visa application is denied, paperwork is messed up, etc.  I have been dying to go t India but they also want all sorts of pre travel information, none of which I plan in advance, hotel, points of contact, etc.  So, the Thai Visa Exempt was one of the reasons I first chose Thailand.  They made it easy to go visit.

I go to india often with no onward ticket, they ask when i get there but i say i dont know if going back to thailand or uk,once they asked me at check in at don muang what money i have,i had 8000 rupees in cash some baht & 3 different banks plati um & gold cards, get a visa online no problem, india is a 1/3rd of the price than thailand & as tho its hard to believe very trustworthy

  7. Another way to stitch up foreigners & take your money, this & the insurance plan, many pensioners are on their way out, especially with the lifestyle they're living in thailand & they know that, make a will & leave to a relative in your home country & not leave it to the bank or greedy thai wife or gf who's trying to fxxk you to death or will find a quicker means if she knows she's the benefactor, even if you keep it a secret i doubt the lawyer will & get money out of her,you know how unscrupulous the cxxts are.....call me cynical but we all know whats going on apart from the idiots who do leave the whxxres money

  8. Regarding your home country bank statements, if you're getting them sent to a relative or friend, get them to photograph them with a smartphone & email to you, then you go to an Internet shop,go to your email & ask them to print it out for you,if you're not computer savvy get a friend to set a email address or even the Internet shop, they're usually happy to help, I just got a new setv in KL & had my apartment manager write the letter of residence or proof of address & photo it & email it,same with my uk bank statement, from a relative,I went to the British embassy in KL to pick up my new passport & used their computer to print them out also my eticket for onward flight, the lady there is great,I then walked 10 mins up the road to the thai embassy with my new passport & other documents, jobs a gud un

  9. My passport was full with  stamps squeezed inbetween others,ii went to kl to renew it & got it in 9 days, flew out of kl international & the woman at pp control didn't know what to do as no entrance stamp so showed my old 1 with a corner cut out,she was still puzzled saying 2 pp's same, she gets her boss & he didn't know what to do,after about 30 mins & a few calls she stamped it but wrote on it in english new passport entry stamp in old......then i get to don muang & hardly any people there, they did have about 12 booths for chinese & 4 for foreign,i recognised a miserable bitch there who had a go at me before, her line was empty & called me over,i tried stalling but had to go,she sees my new passport with visa from kl & the 1 stamp, she was more puzzled than them at kl,she looked my passport on the computer(it dont matter if you change your passport as its all stored on computer,i knew that & thai embassy kl pointed it out as i gave my new & old passport as my letter of residence had old number, girl gives me old passport saying computer knows) anyway miserable bint asks why i live in thailand,i said i don't i just spend a lot of time there, over the years i've had 16 × 6 month visas,3 × 12 month & 5 setv, thats not including other countrys visas & business visas, asking all sorts of questions & pissing me off,she then asked for an onward flight ticket, she asked to see it & i told her it was an eticket & i got no wifi, then i pointed to my passport & said to her non condescending as she was to me but told her in a way to make her look stupid (it did)in front of her underling in the chair next to her that i wouldn't of got the visa without it,she realised i made her look stupid & you could see in her face &  reaction,i was waiting for the "you have B20000" but she didn't as also with visa you need a proof of money but somebody posted on here kl don't ask, anyway i'm glad she didn't as i not have it & she may then refuse me
