I always buy my phones at a Samsung outlet in most malls in Bangkok. There phones of course are unlocked. I then purchase a monthly prepaid data package through AIS, Easy. When I travel back to the states, I then buy a SIM card and phone/data package month to month soon after I arrive. Easy.

Slow down a little and think this through. I will suggest you wait until you are 55, and continue to keep your job in the UK and step up your savings. Then, move to Thailand. Until then, travel to Thailand once a year to get your fix. Maybe by then you will generate a pension if possible.

Incredibly Sad.

I wonder if you have to have an bank account at one of the eligible banks to purchase a bank draft?

Today I was walking down Wireless road to exercise at Lumphini Park, and noticed the US Embassy signage out front. Thought it would be a good photo op as I am a retired American who has lived here for 3 years. After snapping a photo a security guard for the Embassy rushed over to me and ordered me to delete the photo. <deleted>! Is there anybody out there who works or has worked for the US Embassy that can shed light on this?

I agree. However, I hear later this year that chromebooks will be able to download android apps which will include Skype.

Thanks for everyone's response. I imagine in a few years we will see more chromebooks here in Thailand, especially now that Chromebooks have outpaced Macs in total sales.

Chromebook laptops are increasingly becoming more popular around the world. I bought mine last year while in the USA through Amazon and really enjoy the simplicity, price, and the light weight. The Chrome OS is fantastic! Most of the major companies now make them. I have a Toshiba Chromebook 2. I have checked everywhere here in Bangkok. No have. Anybody know why?

The deceased really got around! Yes, another wonderful and caring Thai wife bites the dust. The husband was just too busy to see the deceit this lady had going on. Sad but all too common. Glad I am single and don't take the Thai women seriously.

I am fascinated by people who travel or move to a foreign country and behave as they would back in their home country. Come on man! Life is too short. Accept you got ripped off and leave and don't come back. Lucky you did not eat the whole thing. Move on. Lesson learned.

Levels is actually on Soi 11 at the Aloft hotel, and is a late night club. Very trendy with mostly young people.

The Huntsmen Pub in the basement of the Landmark hotel. Live music featuring a Philippino girl band around 8pm.
Smoked Out

Fortunately, my service apartment building is totally non-smoking. However, a few years ago I rented a room next to a smoker. The walls were so thin that the smoke seeped through and drove me nuts. I had to wear a mask to sleep. I moved out the next month. Best move of my life.
