Oh i didn't see that little caveat at the bottom . I am from one of those countries and i do remember now seeing some info about them not providing the POI any more . So the simple option looks like #1 . #3 looks much more complicated and risky . Thanks.

I am looking at moving to Thailand and while reading the financial requirements on the Thai Embassy.com page there are 3 options . My question is about the last option . If one has say a pension that provides , for example , 500,00 THB / year in your home country , representing annual income , then are you only required to have a Thai Bank acc with a regular balance of 300,000 ?
Financial Requirements are as follows:
- Thai Bank Account showing THB 800,000 or
- Monthly income of at least THB 65,000 (income affidavit from your embassy in Bangkok) or
- Combination (Bank Account + Annual Income = THB 800,000)

...They survive perhaps 30 seconds longer before any rip current will drag them downIts not nonsense. Rips generally dont drag you down they drag you out . A strong swimmer will know to swim across a rip . Poor swimmers will try to swim against the rip , get tired , panic and drown under the waves or drown from exhaustion if no help arrives .

If you were a dishonest type and found a wallet and it contained 6-7k Baht , why wouldn't you just take the lot and throw the wallet away !!? Going to the trouble of returning the wallet to the police station with 1k in it just doesn't make sense ,......well to a rational and logically minded individual . How many times can you run this scam in the same area and not have it picked up by the local police ?

I don't know for sure what the Thai law is for pulling out from a side street , but it was explained to me years ago that Thais believe if you are on the main road then it's your responsibility to avoid vehicles pulling out from side streets as you have a better view of what's happening . I don't know if this is true but it terrifies me to think it's possible . Very sad for the 83 yo involved .

Off-topic question: If I'm just transiting through Suvarnabhumi airport and don't intend to go through Thai immigration process do I still need 50.000 $ insurance? Thanks.
A friend of mine just did that while travelling from Australia to Japan and transiting through BKK. All she had to do was pay for 1 day of Covid insurance . She used AXA and it cost just a few dollars.

There is certainly some very low opinions of Thai women here . Or is it women in general. Or maybe its just a good indication of the type of women that most people in this thread associate with . Without knowing any of the women involved or their circumstances , apparently they are all deserving of being taken to the cleaners . And of course nobody here has ever been guilty of trying to improve their situation with the least amount of effort.
These scammers are pros and know how to target women all over the world ( and men ), gullible , single or widowed , desperate and lonely women some who are just looking for something better in their lives. But they wont get any sympathy here,...no they're just greedy and deserve what they get because some woman somewhere did something evil to some man. Sounds awfully like a Misogynists support group.

I see this interesting form of logic quite often surrounding these kind of stories. Seems that because some Thai women have been unscrupulous and have ripped off husbands or boyfriends or whoever , then all Thai women who suffer a similar fate at the hands of the opposite sex deserve what they get . So apparently there are no innocent victims . Thats one big bucket of tar and one giant brush thats being wielded here.
I am glad to see however that these guys are being caught. They have defrauded so many people from so many countries of so much , whether its money , dignity or whatever.

Excluding myself , and considering a large portion of visitors are , at the moment , Chinese and Russian , i guess its mostly cheap holiday packages and shopping. Although i cant figure why the Chinese would come for shopping . And it looks like the Russians are going to lose out on the shopping sprees as the Ruble loses value . I think the Russians love the warm weather and the beaches. I know on Phuket they spend a lot of time getting warm and wet at the beaches. The Chinese however seem to prefer the comfort of an air conditioned coach and to be ferried on mass in their matching pyjama suits to shopping centers and then to a nice Thai massage where they can be charged sometimes 3-4 times the actual price .

" PHUKET: -- The head of the Marine Office has threatened to ban jet-ski operators from beaches after being shown photographs of dangerous riding taken by a Phuiket News reader at Surin Beach. "
What about photos of the actual deceased Russian jet ski renter ? Apparently that doesn't carry as much weight as photos of jet ski riders being in the proximity of swimmers. If a dead tourist doesn't do it , what will it take to make people safer on Phuket beaches ?

Around coastal areas like Phuket , depending on the wind, they can be blown out to sea and become a hazard for marine life. I always see these things go up and they look great at night , but never used to spend a thought for where they land.

I had a relative who lived in Pattaya and when i stayed with him i would watch the news and the most common thing about these kind of attacks , other than they were perpetrated by cowards, was that they happened , " in the early hours of the morning ". So i always made sure i was not wandering about but safely home before then. Its almost like a kind of evil awakens and emerges at that time , either fuelled by alcohol and drugs or taking advantage of people inebriated and unaware . Doesnt matter if its Bangkok, Chiang Mai or rural Thailand , or even my small seaside home town in Oz , I just wont go out anymore......i hope they get the guys . Im actually amazed at how many times the Pattaya police do find their man. .

And in Phuket,....2 farangs ( Russian i think ) were fined 7500 baht each for drinking a beer in the police station grounds whilst waiting for a matter to be dealt with.

This is an alarmingly common scam, my sister in-law nearly got caught by this one..
A lot of very negative comments on here regarding the victim.. questions as to how she raised the cash etc.. does it occur to anyone that this may have been her life savings.. or she may have borrowed money secured on her house etc... have some compassion here, she may well have been stupid, but she is a victim non the less.
She is nothing but a victim of her own greed, bet her eyes lit up when she heard 270k Euros, yeah right.
And it looks like we have become the victims of your inability to read accurately . Try going through the story again,...sloooowly .

This is a scam often used by Nigerians. Sounds better to have an English sounding name than an African one. Ladies in Thailand may seem an easy target as they may not be as internet savy as some of their western counterparts.
It stuns me how many people on here are quick to condemn her and use this episode as means to balance up the scales for what some unscrupulous women have done in the past. Especially without knowing anything about her. I would be interested to know how many of those posters have never tried to get anything for free or take advantage of a situation for personal gain, no matter how large or small. Let he who is without sin , etc etc .

Who did the botched up boob job on the guy? One is higher than the other, to many whiskies out the back of the mum and pop store during that operation.
You obviously haven't seen the clip. They looked like they were having a great time ,....and so was i . I almost wanted to get my gear off and start dancing. And i thought they were both girls. Fooled me , although the taller one did look a little suspect.

Patongs Jungceylon food court on Phuket, nothing under 100 baht unless you want a bowl of rice.

My first pport (issued 1968) had a stamp 'Not valid for North Vietnam' in the Observations page. I wonder why that was...
Strange , would have been a lovely peaceful place to visit im sure .

My (aussie) passport starts with a blank page, overleaf is the main page, then THREE blank pages, before page 2. I have stamps on the un-numbered page, before page 2. If you didn't get two extra pages like this, you wus ripped off! She'll be right mate, AA
Yep , thats how it looks , two blank pages , the second marked as " observations " then the first page , which everyone has stayed clear of . So it looks like that page is not " off limits ", so i'll get one more trip out of this old passport yet..... Thanks guys.
-
Its about the first page of an Australian passport. Aus Gov websites tell us that the Aus Passport is 32 pages , but page 1 is not numbered like the other pages, it looks like the other pages just no numbering . The numbering starts at Page 2 giving 31 numbered pages . When i went on my first trip the first stamps went onto page 5 and then subsequent trips went backwards and basically they went all over the place. But the first page is still empty . I just rang Australian passport office, and the guy said it was an immigration or foreign affairs issue and passed me on. But i have been on hold for ages. So has anyone had that first page stamped or does anyone know if it can be used ? My passport is nearly full and i would like to get one more trip on it if possiible.
