  2. Our Isuzu SUV is 8 years old with only 115,000 km on the clock. It has a few markings/scratches/chipped duco on it as fair wear and tear. That bothers my wife, and I tell her they are incidents that do not give rise to an insurance claim.

Can anyone point me to a service provider in the Pattaya area that does motor vehicle body touch-ups, chipped duco touch-ups and makeovers of similar "fair wear and tear" markings? The vehicle will no longer be "broken," and a happy wife means a happy life.

    Cheers and thanks.

Time to brush up on US laws. I am sure it is the same for Brits, Aussies, etc....

"Federal law prohibits an American citizen or resident to travel to a foreign country with intent to engage in any form of sexual conduct with a minor (defined as persons under 18 years of age). It is also illegal to help organize or assist another person to travel for these purposes."

    Spot on.

For many years, Australian federal law is that under age sex in another country by an Australian is a crime punishable as if it had happened in Australia.

I believe that law has been very effective in tackling the issue of "Australian sex tourists going to South East Asia, Africa and other locations".

Get an Oz SIM, life would be easier, the Aldi sim can be maintained for as little as $15 per year.

very true. I have used AldiMobile for many years. Great customer support, great coverage in Aus (they use the Telstra network) and best value.

I have an AldiMobile SIM for my OZ mobile, and online I recharge it with a series of call/data/text 30 day packages when I am in OZ. I also have a separate data only SIM that sits in my laptop when I am in Aus.

  5. Good day, several years ago, I have a very similar problem with CommBank and accessing online banking from outside of Australia. The branch and my Relationship Manager wanted me to use the NetBank App but at that time the SMS message for two factor authentication (2FA) for some reason would only work within Australia (not to an overseas phone number).

We solved the problem by using the CommBank dongle technology and that does work here in Thailand, Philippines, and Canada. Most of the time when I login from overseas, I have to give it a second shot at logging in, and it always works on that second time.

As the CommBank is trying to phase out the dongle technology, the bad news is that you may have to be physically present in Australia for the CommBank to provide you with a dongle - in my case it took about 10 days for the dongle to come through to a branch in Brisbane and to then to activate it.

Good luck in getting a dongle without being physically present at a branch in Australia. Cheers and best wishes.

Your correct in that you need "start over again" but it's easy.

You already have money in the Thai bank etc.

Just return visa exempt or setv and obtain non O (retirement) at immigration. You will need 800k on day of application.

That gives you a 90 day permission of stay. Have the 800k in the bank for 2 months and obtain your 12 month extension.

Small bit of mucking around but not difficult.

    Enjoy Oz.

Thank you and most appreciated, cheers.

  7. Thank you Doctor Jack for a good and accurate summary relating to the OP.

This year, my situation is a quite different for the annual renewal of my extension of stay on the " O (Retirement)" Visa issued in 2014.

My current "Non-Imm O (Retirement)" Visa Extension of Stay expires on 25 July 2022. Subject to travel restrictions being eased etc, I will be visiting extended family in 2022. If God wills it, I expect to depart Thailand for Australia in late February, with June-July as time in Europe/UK and then in Canada for August/Sept with me back home in Thailand during October 2022.

I will be absent from Thailand from March to October with the Extension of Stay due for renewal on 25 July 2022 at Jomtien.

What are the options and processes involved, for example:-

     - I doubt it, but can I renew at Jomtien 5 months early before I leave in Feb 2022?

     - Is it possible to do an extension of stay through a Thai Embassy or Consulate in the UK or Europe in June, July?

     - Can I return to Thailand in October on a single entry or Visa on arrival, and then go to Jomtien Immigration and patch in a 12 month extension of stay on my "O (Retirement)" Visa originally issued in 2014?

I see Thailand as my home and my wife and I were married in 2014. I have 14-year-old stepson (her birth son). I have always met the financial requirements by having over 800K THB sitting in a designated savings account.

Many thanks for your wisdom, contributions and thoughts.

  8. Good day, Good People,

We have a 5 year old female speyed (cut) Siberian Husky who is well overweight and is very set in her ways in her simple very secure life. She is my constant companion and shadow, and has been for all of her life.  Her name is MoneyDog.

In September I fly to Australia and will be away until April/May 2022 with my return date dependent on my daughter in Australia who has advanced cancer. I also have overdue business matters requiring attention plus medical maintenance checks that have not been done since my return from Australia in February 2020. All subsequent visits to Australia have been cancelled with borders closed in both directions.

My wife of 7 years and her 14 year old son have absolutely no interest in having any responsibility for the care and maintenance of effectively my dog.

In summary, my dog has had a great life of 5.5 years with, walks every day, good feeds every day plus reciprocal very close companionship. One option is to try and put her into an animal shelter, and literally turn my back on her and her future well-being - given the totally overloaded and under resourced situation with animal shelters here in Thailand. I am not prepared to do that.

My strongly preferred option is an appointment with a Vet for my dog to be put to sleep by the Vet, and then I take her with me, and bury her with dignity, along with her favourite toys and trinkets.
The Vet that we have been to all her life is Buddhist and absolutely will not put a dog to sleep (even if badly injured or very sick and in pain) because of the bad karma that Buddhists believe will be caused for them by killing a living being.  I have tried 4 other animal hospitals here in Pattaya and none of them will provide the appropriate service.

While I respect their beliefs and decisions, I struggle with the resulting consequences for the dogs concerned. My dog has had an absolutely great life and I want her to go out on a high note - all she will know is that she is having an injection.

My question to the forum is, could someone please share with me the contact details of a vet or animal hospital (preferably in the Pattaya area but I can travel) that would be prepared to euthanise a dog at their premises, and then I take her away and bury her.  One person said there is a non-Buddhist Vet of Chinese origin at Jomtien who does do the requested service. They did not know the contact details, and I was not able to locate any such details when searching on Google.

When MoneyDog is put to sleep, I will know that she is all okay, and exactly where she is having a big sleep at one of our favourite bushland areas. I would never have that peace of mind if she went to an animal shelter or direct to some person or family as part of re-homing her. She does have health issues with being 25-30% overweight and what seemed like a chronic ear infection in both ears that the Vet has not been successful in eradicating.

I value all contributions and anything that will help put me in touch with an appropriate Vet or animal hospital.  Thank you very much for your attention and response.

I am waiting for an appointment.....I registered very shortly after the website opened.

I am told by the email that I will have an appointment in my area, that the first dose will be Sinovac and the second will be Az or Pfizer.

My concern is that the Sinovac element of the vaccination will disqualify me from travelling to UK, EU, US, Japan etc. as these countries will inevitably require all vaccines used to be approved wherever you wish to travel to. Sinovac to my knowledge is not approved in any of these territories.

Does any know anything about this?

SinoVac is not approved in the Australian system. Australia has approved AZ, Pfizer and Moderna.

They will be open on the Tuesday. The additional holiday on the 27th was canceled by the cabinet last month due the new covid 19 waive.

I did my annual Extension of Stay and Multiple Re-Entry Permit processes on Thursday & Friday a week ago at Jomtien. Minimal queuing required, fast turn around. I go there mid afternoon and it is always much quieter than their morning sessions. I find Jomtien to be good operators and quite efficient within a very paper based system.

The registration states Australian Citizen and the enrolment  for the vaccine requires an Australian Passport Number. I have been an Australian Permanent Resident for close on 50 years (immigrated in 1972 under the £10 pom scheme with my parents) and thereafter educated to Uni level and then worked and paid my taxes in Australia since that time until I moved to Thailand in 2013. I was just a bit suprised that permanent residents had been ignored.

As a matter of interest, you lived most of your life in Australia and seem to regard Australia as your home base, what made you decide against becoming an Australian citizen and having the full benefits of citizenship?

With ~200 countries on the planet mostly all using different forms of proof of vaccination, I will bet most countries don't ever mandate arrivals need to be vaccinated.  Or if they do, they will give up rather quickly when they try to implement restrictions but realize it's impossible to manage arrivals with hundreds of different certificates.

Some countries such as maldives and Seychelles already tried to allow vaccinated people to skip pcr tests, but they gave up when they realized it was impossible to decipher or verify all the different forms  of proof of vaccination.

I am sure the copiers of certificates/graduation papers and drivers licences that operate in Bangkok, will be able to produce a nice plausible looking certificate with the details you would like as per your specification. Delivery by pick up in person the next day, full payment on placement of order.

I agree.  And then there's the announcement that the US will send 550,000 vaccines for Korean soldiers...

I agree that China sets a leading example of looking out for and caring about their citizens who are outside of China. Unfortunately, the Australian govt is even less caring than USA govt regarding its citizens overseas. Scott Morrison (the Prime Minister) uses an "us Vs them" approach of treating Oz citizens abroad as expendable in his building of a fear campaign among the voters in Australia - justifying it as Fortress Australia and keeping Australians safe (so long as you are inside the Fortress!). His primary motivation is for his mob to win the election due within 14 months - who or what gets hurt or damaged along the way are easily and without conscience classed as expendable cannon fodder.

Could you not send them a copy of the payment detail and the reference used from your online payment?

As for other ISP's, there is True, 3BB or you could stay with TOT/CAT now that the payment confirmation issue may be solved.

We used to be with 3BB who were very poor in service quality - drop outs, low signal and loss of service for hours on end several times a week in our home in Pattaya. Changed over to AIS à few years ago - very miss a beat, strong signal 24/7 and lower cost per month. Fully recommend but may be dependent on your location

I would shop first and when you find a unit you like, then bring the correct amount of money over... it only takes a day or two for the transfer... it will take longer than that by a lot to get the contract and everything together after agreement... good luck and hope you get a bargain... good tome to negotiate like crazy

Also look into your muddy crystal ball and form a view on how you think the relative foreign exchange rates may move in the likely period between now and an estimated date of the property purchase contract settlement.

Depending on your expectation of the foreign exchange rate and transaction costs as between your source of currency and the THB, you can minimise your risks by bringing in some or all of the funds into THB ahead of the time of the purchase settlement. This may be as one or several transactions.

If you are not pro-active on choosing the timings of the currency conversions, you may be stuck with a bad rate on the day because by then you must have your clear funds in THB by a fast approaching known date for settlement.

I am not one  to incur unnecessary stress in my life, especially when it is quite avoidable - up to you and enjoy the ride!.
