Try Nha Trang for starters.

She was bored and wanted to give herself a raise without having to ask.  She took the money because, like a kid with a candy bar on the table, it was just too irresistible.  In the future do not test your low income help with leaving money around the house.  This test will fail most often in any country in the world.

You should be ashamed.  Hire her back, give her a raise, and keep your money secured.

The assumption of at least a small amount of integrity in dealing with civil servants does not apply here.  Your fantasy of law and order will cost you more money and indigestion. 

Feel your pain.  Thailand was to be my dream retirement country.   My expectations and dreams ran headlong into reality.  The world IS changing, not for the betterment of mankind in my personal opinion.

It might be a dark conspiracy.  When the world goes to war, foreigners may be rounded-up and placed in interment camps like the US did the Japanese during WWII.  Be sure and let your GF know where you hide your gold!

Are you really that easily offended?   Try not looking for something to complain about.  Life is wonderful for those who look for it's wonders.  Try being positive and complimentary, you may live longer and be happier.

One of retirees worst nightmares, a wacko Thai neighbor making an otherwise agreeable existence into a daily dread.

You are not going to change the neighbor, neighbor probably does not like foreigners in general and foreigner's wives in particular.

Look for a cheap rental in another town, rent out your house, tell you wife to get off your back before she does permanent damage to your relationship.

BTW, neighbors from hell can be found everywhere, just like trolls on forums.

As a foreigner, why wai, unless the Thai person first acknowledges your presence with a wai of their own?
