I get the distinct impression that you guys who live in Thailand and are married to a Thai girl, look down on guys who stay in Thailand on tourist visas, like a form of snobbery. You go on about 'real tourists' like anyone else is second class.
Unless of course you can tell me why you don't like people staying on tourist visas. I was coming there but the stupid laws 90 day visa runs out me off.
Now I know a few of you will say good, we don't want your type here any way, but I am interested to know why.

As long as Thai girls are available - tourism will prevail
Don't think so, Vietnam is starting to attract a lot of visitors Philippines, all these countries and others have beautiful Asian girls. As for bar girls and prostitution yes maybe the sex tourist will still!! Go but to Pattaya? Maybe not

Maybe because many people believe (and partly justified) that people who drive fortuners drive more selfish then the rest.
I drive a fortuner, you gonna now call me selfish?
I agree if a woman doesn't want you then just walk away from them tell them they are not worth fighting over. Road rage the world over can result in someone being beaten to a pulp, stabbed or shot its not just a Thai thing

You know people do sometimes lose their temper and do all sorts of very naughty things. Now all you very perfect people here should really accept that this huge world has all sorts of people in it and they are not all perfect as you all are.

There are under age girls there, would you all be so unconcerned if it was your daughter? Where do you think these girls come from? Who really runs these joints?

To be honest the Thai visa system is not very easy if you want to stay long term Philippines is much much easier. And you can stay 36 months without having to leave. On a visitors visa. Then come back start all over again. Vietnam you can buy and own a house. But having to leave every 90 days is a pain in the butt

Seems to me as an outsider foreigners are not over welcome in thailand , unless you have a good amount of money I guess

I have said this before but I was coming to Thailand, to chaung mai but I keep seeing foreigners being beaten robbed and killed. Its not a safe country now that's for sure. Big shame. Thailand will have travel warnings very soon then tourism will suffer. Really a shame

I think I will avoid Thailand they obviously don't like foreigners even the visa situation is aweful.
I have been told Vietnam is better as a foreigner you can even buy a house. Philippines is always said to be dangerous but I tell you as a foreigner here its far safer than Thailand. Not sure where Thailand is heading but it don't look too good does it. With bombs going g off and foreigners getting killed mysteriously falling out of hotel rooms not a good sign. I was going to settle in Thailand but all this is changing my mind . there is more to this than your being g told I am convinced. The tourist industry will suffer after all this I am sure. But they can come to Philippines in relative safety not as good infrastructure as Thailand at the moment but times they are a changing. Gonna stay where I am now. I heard actually quite a lot of foreigners were already leaving Thailand and coming here . its cheaper safer for. Foreigner the visa situation is easy, as a visitor you can stay 36 months renewing your visa then leave for a day then come back start all over again, simple. Shame cos I have always thought Thailand really was the land of smiles.
SURVEY: Is limiting visas to 2 land crossings per year a good idea?

Personally I think many long term tourists will be put off going to Thailand, it would put me off totally. There are other countries other than Thailand, even here in the Philippines it's so much easier , can stay here 36 months before you need to leave for 24 hours. Thailand has better infrastructure than the Philippines, but only allowing two visa runs might deter a lot of people
