kui buri is a fantastic place, temple beaches  food and  dirt cheap  hotels, well worth a visit unlike Prachuap..... even Cha am is better than Prachuap

I thought prachap looked ok, based on Google image search anyway.  Nicer than chumpon or pranburi which are the other nearby stations. What am I missing?

Let me guess, video cameras not working?

I dont know if you have ever visited a police cell block, but there are no video cameras and no supervision. People are just left in a metal barred cell for two days until release or sent to court.

Food is not even always given, because there is no obligation unlike in a prison. Police only go past the cells when depositing or taking prisoners. So it is quite possible for someone to hang themselves using their shirt or other item of clothing tied to a bar.

Usually a police cell will contain several prisoners, who could have stopped him. But for foreigners its common practice to be given a seperate cell to themselves.

If this guy was caught with drugs and knew the sentence would be 20+ years in a Thai jail... Well that's pretty much a death sentence.

What I find odd is why no attempt at bribing was made. Or post bail and hike across the border to cambodia. It would be worth a try..

    Greetings,

I've been a member at True Fitness from 2013 through 2016.   After expiration of my membership, I would have renewed and continue working out but too many operational problems such as extremely loud music, equipment are old and broken, workout area is dirty and smelly and the restroom and shower facilities are filthy!  So, I left and joined WE Fitness Society!  So far, I'm a happy camper!

I switched to virgin for the same reason . Isn't WE something crazy like 6 grand a month?

Why are they closing it? It's a great location and always looked busy

Will another company take over the lease and buy the gym's equipment?

4 years ago it was possibly the best located and best brand gym in Bangkok, along with the centralworld branch.

But now you have fitness first and virgin in better locations and with far better facilities. No surprise true fitness felt the squeeze.

  5. Hello sorry for what must be a frequently asked topic. I tried Google but couldn't find any info. I used to work in Bangkok but my school took care of everything visa related.

I'm planning on visiting for 2 months, by arriving on a visa exemption for 30 days, and then getting a 30 day extension.

It seems straightforward, and I understand Thai immigration will not have a problem.

But my question is about the airlines onward flight requirements. Will they still want to see an onward flight within the initial visa-exempt 30 day timeframe?  It will be a big waste of money if I have to buy a flight I'll never use. Or will they accept the "assumed" extension?

  6. For anyone who finds this ( it's the top result when you Google "what's anchovy in Thai"), the correct translation is : ปลาแอนโชวี่ .

the other translations above are all scientific names for Indian anchovies. Not our delicious European breeds.

To continue...  And the thought of taking her shopping in there or watching her pick at her food at a 6000 THB dinner tab, almost makes me queasey.

What the hell?? Walk across to benjakiti park for a walk around the lake -> T21 for a coffee at starbucks -> Say goodbye after 2-3 hours*. Cost you 300baht.

Take your girlfriend to a restaurant, not a stranger on a first date.

As for thai friendly, I used it to meet a some girls. Some were clearly farang-hunters, just after a white guy because their ex was white // because they are bored with their life, but you can usually tell. Some were fine, just normal girls.

*I have done this exact date plan with 5 different girls, and they all were happy / wanted to meet again.

Anything is better than a negative slide as Brits have seen around a 20% loss since the Brexit decision.

As a british man getting paid in Arab riyals, I think the sterling crash is fantastic.

Samui. Never been in a taxi that used the meter in 17 years and minimum charge is 300 Baht if you are lucky. 1.38km from a friend's restaurant in town to back home so 300 Baht or likely 350 now since the 50 Baht surcharge was introduced. Return trip up the coast to go shopping at Tesco and big C is 22km and costs 1000 Baht. I can hire a jeep for the day @ 600 Baht and drive myself.

    Anyone better these prices?

The red songtaew taxis in Chiang Mai must be pushing close to those prices... Thai gf had to pay 500bht for a ten minute ride from the university to Safari park.

And this is a very basic problem of education in Thailand.   The purpose of going to school is not have a comprehensive knowledge of a subject, it is to pass the test.

I only hope that all students will remember from Health Education that if you feel sexually aroused, you should go play football.

I don't disagree with you, but the same problem can be said of lots of countries. In the UK high school is purely about exam preparation now.

As for the news, it's good for individual students, but what is the net effect? If everyone is getting higher scores then the threshold for university entry will simply rise. And it's not like students actually learn anything from these exams (other than how to pass an exam). So the result will be inflated test results with no benefit.
