Where does this data come from?
Working thais have come home from oversead, so lost income at the village level.
Millions of thais out of work, so household income .
But still, 100,000,000 thais will be taking holidays, touring around Thailand??
I can't follow the logic trail ... ?

COVID-19 infections will increase to about 3,000 by the end of April
I think there he's confused his months. The way everyone in Bangkok scattered throughout Thailand from the bus stations last week, I believe he means 3,000 by the end of March

It seems the only places that air quality measurements are taken in Thailand are Bangkok and Chiang Mai.
So PM2.5 in these 2 places are about 100 & 168 respectively at 0800.
How terrible.
Spare a thought for Chiang Rai, with a PM2.5 of 186. Or Mae Hong Song, at 195.
I can recall only a couple of times in the last 12 months when the reading dropped below 100.
The air in northern Thailand (as well as neighboring countries too, I imagine) is the worse in the world.

Back again.
The boring part is that this fading and whitening of the pool due to calcium reacting with the gel coating is endemic.
And I am led to believe by the Manufacturer that fiberglass pools all over the world are turning white wherever the supply water is hard.
I was informed of this after the installation, of course.
Only real cure is eliminate the calcium at point of entry.
But when I bought the pool no mention was made of this problem; not by the manufacturer, or the installer, not even on any of the Blog sites like this.
I was told that fiberglass pools are the bees knees, no problems.
I just want other guys to be aware of this problem .... if you are tossing up about installing a fiberglass pool or a concrete pool in Thailand, then check the quality of your water first. If it is hard, and you are dead set on fiberglass, then install an ionizer as well to soften the water.
If your not keen on the added maintenance costs and extra time and devotion to pool upkeep, then go a saltwater concrete pool.
You'll be a happier little Vegemite, believe me.

I installed a small, bright blue fibreglass pool 12 months ago, and the colour has now faded to a white due to calcium in the water.
The manufacturer of the pool tells me this is a huge problem in Thailand, Australia, everywhere, and there seems to be no cure.
Anyone else having a problem with this?

Thailand's ban on smoking at home comes into law today. People can be prosecuted for domestic abuse by lighting up.
Clarification required ... You cannot smoke inside the house, but OK outside (veranda, yard)?
Or cannot smoke at HOME, meaning anywhaere on the property?
All very vague ...

"officials said that foreigners cost the Thai state some 300 million baht annually in unpaid medical bills"
Wow!! 300million baht!! That's huge!!
Almost .0002% of the revenue the Thai Government gets from tourists visiting this country (between 1 and 2.5 trillion baht, depending on which source you read).
How do you say "duty of care" in thai?

Strange ... banks in Oz send a new card, but don't cancel the old one until the new card is activated on-line, or at a bank branch.
And going on an extended holiday with sole asset a debit card ... no backup credit card, no cash ... ?
I sometimes wonder if we are getting the full story ... surely no-one would travel on a CREDIT card .... I can understand bank cancelling that card in certain circumstances ... as I say, need the whole story.
Another gofundme candidate ... ?

Gotta look at the big picture.
On 22 May, 2014, General Prayut Chan-o-cha led a military coup. He made himself the civilian PM, and became Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Two months later, on 22 July, 2014, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha passed Section 44 (https://ilaw.or.th/node/3938), giving himself (basically) dictatorial powers, with no redress.
A very well planned coup; not exactly what one would call spur of the moment.
By and by, Thailand passed from being a country ruled by a military junta to a one man show then.
There can be only one bright star in a one man show.
Forget all the conspiracy theories ... Big Joke was a comet shining a little too bright.
He was relocated under Section 44, and Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha IS Section 44.
La démocratie est morte, vive la démocratie!!

Just curious, guys, but is that a British flag sticker on the left side of the tailgate?

the sot did not keep enough aside to buy his way out of trouble ?
I'm sure he did.
But check out the amount and number of people he scammed ... average of about 5,000,000 baht each for 1,000 people ... You don't think the people he scammed had influence too?

Mate, get over it.The batteries are made over in this neck of the woods anyway.
A hell of a lot of things are MADE here.
You're confusing poor workmanship at the service level with manufactured items by accredited firms at the production level.
Have a think ...can you think of anything that is made in Thailand and is world class material?
I can.
your scooter and pickup most likely made here.
But getting back to the Service level ...
Sure, there's a lot of dodgies ... I can attest to that.
But, come on, a battery changeover isn't rocket science ... the hard part is getting the best quality at the right price.
Toyota here in Chiang Rai quoted 20,000 baht to change out the 12 volt battery ... A Panasonic D26 Maintenance free.
My wife called Panasonic in Bangkok and was quoted 2,000 baht for the exact same battery from Panasonic ... internal duplicates, save for a temperature sensor on the Toyota Battery, and a label saying it passed the Toyota QC.
As a further guide, no 2011 Camry will have GPS updates installed ... why? ... because it runs off a CD and Toyota want 20,000 baht for an update disc.
Cool, huh?
But fear not. I will be reading the Toyota warranty most carefully before doing anything.
But some happy news now ...
I checked out the car after Songhran (all this drama happened while I was in Bang Saray. By the time I got back, it was all a done deal, repaired (?) by Toyota). The car just would not accelerate. Put your foot to the floor and nothing happened. Trouble there was, there was carpet piece had worked its way up behind a linkage and the floor was a long way away.
Problem solved.
As to this battery saga ...
I have monitored the small one. It has never gone below 12.7 volts, after days of standing idle.
The Traction battery is showing good on the Display graph ... very good, as matter of fact. Holds it's charge well, and never drained, once you get moving.
Anyway all, that's it for me ... I'll see youse in some other thread, I guess.
Have good, all
Sorry guys, one last thing ...
This is a great car to drive ... if I get a few more years out of the batteries, I will have no qualms forking out for a new set ...

I have a 2011 Camry Hybrid. A new Hybrid battery costs 100,000 baht from Toyota. The battery for the engine cost 10,000 baht. I heard of a reputable (?) firm in Bangkok that does Hybrid replacements for 50,000 baht - all guaranteed and supposedly better quality than the Toyota original. Unfortunately, I have no contact details. Can anyone help me on this? And pleases, don't get into a conversation about the pros and cons of Hybrid Technology.

agree 100% with F4UCorsair. For whatever reason, the fact remains a person is dead because of an accident the boyfriend was invloved in.
Whether negligence, stupidity, or what, the pice would be remiss in their duty if they didn't investigate.
So that means this guy has to hang about in Phuket until such the investigation is concluded.
Remember, this guy isn't the victim ... the poor girl was.

I don't understand ... you can own a condo outright in your name. You don't need to have a company, unless you own the land the structure is built on.
If I remember correctly, 51% of the condos in the development must be owned by thai nationals, the other 49% can be owned outright by foreigners

Any thoughts on the best paying jobs for unskilled workers inThailand?
Apart from the obvious ones in bars, spare a thought for a mailhandler in the esteemed Thailand Postal Service.
How many of us have birhday cards and Christmas cards sent to us from loved ones at home, usually with a small amount of cash attached?
How many times have the cards never arrived or, if we are lucky, arrived minus any cash?
Any other good paying jobs come to mind for a conscientous Thai further himself or herself?

Thailand to introduce 300 baht ‘tourist fee’ from January
in Thailand News
Posted
What an amazingly short sighted, greedy bureaucracy.
Tourists to Thailand generated some 3.2 trillion baht revenue in 2019.
And these short sighted fools are upset because a few of these tourists cost the Thai economy 450 million baht, or .05% of the tourism revenue.
The Thai hierarchy have plumbed to new depths. In Oz we say they are lower than shark s**t.
After being stuck in Oz since February last year (thank you, Covid), I feel no regret that, after living in Thailand for 20 years, I have turned my back on it.
