  1. hey guy's,

I am planning about to import some Jersey-Holstein Crossbreds from australia. You can check out their website at http://www.clunyexports.com.au/. But i already asked for the price but they didn't gave me coz i wouldn't buy 1000 heads. So i wondered about if some of you guys are interested in these dairy cows. As far as i know these are quality dairy cows. If there are enough interested people we could buy 1000 together and share them...just a thought....Or somebody must be able to tell me where i can buy some nice dairy cows for in thailand and for what price offcourse :o

Let me know, it might be interesting

  3. Hi again,

now i am asked to make a diccision about what kind of land to buy. I can buy rubbertree's at the age of 5 years old for 50000baht per rai, and i can buy palmtree's for 35000baht a rai.......

Anyone knows about returns of these kind of crops?

    regards

  4. Hey guys,

Last few weeks i have been doing some research about rubber farming, and found some land, But while looking for rubber I have found a nice peace of land that looks awsome to me, but fully planted with 2 year old Oil Palms. Its said about it is a new kind of pil palm that shoul dbe producing fruit soon.

The land is being sold for 35000 baht per Rai

So now i am in the option for rubber tree's and Oil Palms both ready fro producing soon. The rubber tree's are sold for 50000 baht a rai.

Anyone know something about costs with rubber or oil? I knowabout the rubber is about 70baht a kilo and the oil is about 3 baht a kilo. But How much does rubber produce per rai and how much oil per rai? what have the most costs and why?

Anyone live close to chonburi with rubber or palm tree's?

Maybe we can have some contacts and share information in future

    regards

Some general comments. I'm sure someone can prove me wrong in all accounts. Rubber and Oil Palm can grow in a surprising variety of sites. I am an ex-forester from the West Coast of Canada and it amazes me where they will grow. The bottom line is good production of either fruit or rubber. Normally in the tropics the soils are not very deep and if you are growning crops they are fertile for a very short time. If you want to produce something like rubber or oil palm you have to fertilize to optimize production. I have listed some sites to look at that explain a lot for oil palm and rubber. As with anything the land is site specific and maybe you can get a government agricultural person to assess what you need.

50,000 babt per rai may not be a bad price depending on where it is. If there are producing rubber trees on it so much the better. Problem with rubber tree lumber is that the trees give very poor recovery as the spacing is tight and no pruning. Can always cut and grow oil palm. But that would mean a four year gap in production. Interesting state address by Bush saying that all the stops are out for ethanol production. My feel is that they will probably be buying ethanol to an extent as not much of the states is good for ethanol producition.

    THANKS

I just had contact again with my gf, She said about the land near chonburi that it has already rubbertree's on it, the age of it is arround 5years young/old. And still for 50000baht for one rai.... Seems like a bargain to me especially coz the tree's are about to produce right? or wrong? Somebody trieing to nail me?

But looking at your reply it gives me the feeling it better to look for palm oil land then rubbertree land right?

ANyway, i am going to read your links now, (or later coz just started work) and will send a reply again after i understand all hihihi. Thanks alot for your concernce and advice, and perhaps if you know anybody with oilfarms and rubberfarms near chonburi, then maybe i can let my gf give them a call or visit.

    Thanks again.

  6. Hi Peter,

I am at work now and will send you some stuff when I get home. There is probably a bit of a spike in the Rubber market due to floods and a shortage of rubber. I would think the long term opportunities are tied into oil, so it looks good. Where bouts are you planning to go to? I have some relatives that grow rubber and know a lot of tricks of the trade. I guess your biggest decision is to buy an existing plantation or start from scratch. I would think starting from scratch is a lot cheaper. Although sometimes a plantation owner just decides to sell.

    Take care,

Thanks for your reply, i appriciate that,

Wish i could reach my gf, she knows more about the land we saw for sale. All i know now for the moment is that someone is selling his land (80rai) for 50000baht per rai. Thats inclusief the rubber tree. More information i don't know yet. But i will let my gf find out for me soon. I only thougth it is a waste of time to buy the land without the tree's coz now the price is high and maybe in 7 years its not anymore :o.

Hope to get your information when you get back home, for now goodluck at work.

    regards,

  7. Hi all,

I am planning myself to settle in thailand together with my gf. We have been talking about setting up or buying over a rubberfarm. Now i know about the price of rubber is about 700baht a kilo. But thats it, more i don't know about rubberfarming. I wonder about the annual profits and cost are of a farm. And somebody perhaps know some websites where i can read about "what to do", "how to do", and "when to do"?

For now i just know a tree have a production untill its about 30-35 years old. And they cut the tree's at night and harvest all rubber in the morning. But whats next?

    Regards,

    Peter

  8. Thanks all for the advice,

Guess there are many things i haven't understood yet about thai law and things. Anyway, it would have been nice if it all was possible. Maybe someday it all will be different. Hope someday we foreigners can buy and own 100% of the land.

I will give it a thought again about what kind of business to start.

Anyone know what is the best websit to do reasearch in thai law?

I know about the sex industrie have many illegal things. (Just a thought....) For example i never saw a shop selling dildo's and vibrators.......For sure i know there is a market for that, Every country have that....Why in thailand not?? Is it also illigal to have or sell sex toys here? I just know from experience that there are lots of people looking for toys, most of them are gay and lesbian. The only way for them to get some is ordering by internet. But the can't coz they don't have a credit card. Means they are willing to pay american/european prices for a simple toy............$$$$?

Anyone some thoughts and idea's or knowledge about this?

Don't be to offended by this article....It was just a "playing" thought

    Regards....

  9. So sad to hear you missed a change of buying nice land, maybe more luck next time,

Thank you for your critics about the topic, i appreciate that, however it would be more nice if you showed more respect in what kind of words you use. I just ask for advice and help, and if you think i would make a mistake you can tell me in a normal way, but by using disrespectfull words then better say nothing at all,

    Thanks anyway :o

However i have so my ways for still being a farmer, but that's coz some reasons, i know aboutthe that some kind of occupation i can or can't do. ANd i never said i wanted it to be an easy life, i don't mind to work my ass of for get just standards salaris.

  10. Alright, Thanks for explaining it to me,

But guess i should start my own company first before buying out other farmers, coz sounds like a thing with a bigger change to lose the land ownership something like that. don't know how to say hihihi

About thai language, Yeah i can help my self arround, offcourse still have to learn alot about the farming. And in the isaan and arround chiangmai they have different dialects to that makes it more complicated. But i am learning, and before i can do business i have to set up the busness and constructions, I'll do it all by my self. I have the time and am an engineer myself. Guess it takes me about a year before everything on the land is alright for start doing business. In the 11 times i came here (in 5 years) i never had any problem yet with thaipeople and the language barrier, perhaps coz i am willing to try and learning, and look like thai hahaha.

But still wondering about if there excist cheaper land then 30000 baht a rai, and if anybody know the trusted lawyers. Coz iwth a bad lawyer it all can end up wrong.

For now i still was thinking about a fishing farm (Pla Duk) Found a lot of information about how to set it up and things about Pla Duk, Only don't know anything about how much they can be sold for at markets. Thats what i have to ask next time i get there, Or anybody perhaps know??

    regards

  11. Oh thanks for the quick reply,

I got a starting cash of about one miljon baht. not to much i guess, and want to have arround 15 rai, i know about near ubon ratchathani is a lot of land for sale arround the 20 to 30000 bath a rai.

I know, that farming is not a busnes for much profit unless have a big organisation, but if it have a profit aroiund the 50000 baht a month, then i would be happy already. Can do with that i think :o

What you mean with buying up small holdings. You mean i can buy land from other small farmers and join them together as one? Hope you can explain me in easy english coz my english aint that good.

    Regards
