  1. This is actually a question for my wife in Thailand. She works for the Thai government and she has full coverage insurance but it's for all of the generic hospitals. I'm wanting to purchase good quality insurance for her but I don't know much about insurance companies in Thailand. Neither does she. Does anyone have any advice on a good and trustworthy Thai medical insurance company?

  2. I've lived in Thailand off and on for 16 years and married to a Thai gov employee. I've always rented but am ready to buy now. My wife keeps telling me something that sounds absurd, saying that in Thailand people don't want to show you a house unless you're planning on buying it, again, that's nuts. That makes about as much sense as being forced to buy the first bottle of milk I see in Tesco. I've showed her how real-estate sales works in the US with house tours/shopping around but she seems to think it doesn't work that way here. So, my question is, can anyone point me to a professional business that deals with selling houses? I'm not Bill Gates wanting a massive house but I would like a good sized yard up to an acre if possible even if it's unkempt. The house doesn't need to be big since it's just the 2 of us, maybe 3 million baht ball park. I know I could easily go to one of the many subdivisions here in Chiang Mai and get a tour their houses but I'm not interested in living jammed up next to someone in clone houses.

  3. I guess that's how you would say it. To put it plainl. y I had a one-year Visa. It ended. I went to the border in Mai Sai and got a 3-month Visa.  In one week that visa will end. I'm not sure what you mean by "to visit your wife" because I live in Chiang Mai in my house with my wife now. In fact I live across 1 block from the immigration office. You're telling me that I can just go in there and get a 60-day without leaving the country?

  4. I've been living in Thailand for the last three years on a non-immigrant-O marriage visa but I will be going back to America for work in October. My situation is that my one-year visa finished in March and my three month extension ends next week. What I need right now is some kind of visa that I can use between now and the end of September. How do I go about doing that and what kind of visa is available? Thank you in advance for your answers because Google is not cutting it.

  6. Are there any ATMs in Chiang Mai that don't suck your card all the way inside the machine? I've got to say, that it is the stupidest idea ever. I keep getting a "card suspended" from the local ATMs even though my bank back home says its fine and I'm worried that it will eat my card like I've seen before.

  7. I had previously lived in Thailand from 2004 to 2011 and I looked for real corn meal or masa harina to make corn tortillas but it seemed impossible to find. Now I am back living in Chiang Mai and hoping to find some somewhere. I have found flour tortillas and imported Old Elpaso taco shells for 19 times the price of America but that won't do. Has anyone seen corn meal or masa harina in Chiang Mai?
