When i bring some cheese from the UK i plan to find the one with the longest use by date in the supermarket.. and i'll package it with one of these frozen blocks. 

How best to deal with this kind of stuff? Try and educate and risk alienating a potential future lay. Or go with the flow and agree?

The aircon thing causes friction between me and my gf..

She turns it on.. i turn it off.. she turns it on.. i turn it off.. 

I hide the handset and she gets moody. And she is coming over to stay less and less now

I often thought about bringing cheese from the UK to Thialand.. 

I guess it would stay OK because the airplane hold is cold right?

Just to clarify i'm not a complete cheap charlie but this will be the first time I've ever rented a place monthly in Thailand. Up until now i've only stayed at hotels. Couple that with the numerous "help my electricity bill is 17000baht" threads i've read on Thaivisa makes me paranoid. 

If its only a few thousand a month i will run it 24/7 not a problem.. but if its gonna be 10's of thousands of baht.. no way!

I'm staying in 25sq studio room. I don't have a fan but i might go and buy one

Ok it is simply getting to warm for me to sleep at night so i'm gonna have to use the aircon..

I'm paying 8baht a unit so i gotta be careful..

Please estimate my bill.. if i set it at 25degrees and i use it for 10 hours a day.

I have a fridge that is running and i have a shower but i dont have the water heater running.

I run my kettle 5 times a day about for a cuppa tea. 

I hardly ever tip these days in Thailand because the whoe country is geared up to extract baht from the foreigner at every opportunity.. you've gotta keep your head above water

A lady hands you a beer.. and farangs automatically tip. where's the exceptional service in that?

Have a nice meal and the "service tax" appears on the receipt.. most farangs automatically tip. lol why? 

If the taxi driver is a nice fella and is talking to me i'll give him a small tip

Why should the British tax payer be liable for thousands and thousands of potential failed marriages and the financial fallout that ensues? 

Typical scenario.

Barry the plumber goes on holiday to Pattaya

Brit marries Thai and brings her over to the UK.

Has a baby.. and also ships over the kid from a previous relationship from the Thai village

Relationship fine for a few years until she decides to get rid..

Barry the plumber earns next to nothing therefore is not liable for child payments.

She is habitually resident in the UK therefore gets - Housing Benefit, Child Tax Credits, Income Support and all the other goodies

Result = The country is screwed over for hundreds and hundreds of thousands of £ over the course of 18 years. She will sit on her arse and do nothing because she's unemployable and needs to "take care"

Topics involving saving money get people very hot under the collar.. lots of abuse and snide remarks from lots of extravagant sukhumvit farangs that do not save money at all... 

What is also interesting is that these types of threads always get the highest view counts. No doubt this thread will get 6 or 7 pages of replies from people not interested in saving money (of course!) and thousands of views.

A few years ago i ended up in some girls apartment block and as we were walking along the corridor i noticed someone had left their door kind of open/ajar with a shoe keeping it open.. i peered inside as i went by and there was a white guy sat on the sofa watching tv.. I was intrigued why this guy had forfeited his privacy.. and through maybe he had issues in the head or found it "kinky" to be stared at by his neighbors..

Anyway fast forward to last year.. i was in some girls apartment block and sure enough the same exact thing happened.. I noticed some one had left their door ajar.. this time they had used the security chain and a shoe to keep the door open about 6 inches.  I said to the girl.. oh look someones got their door open.. weird. She said to me something along these lines.. "it's a foreign guy he always leaves his door like that.. its funny".. 

Perhaps i'm mentally challenged but i only just figured it out .. they're trying to get the air conditioned air from the building into their room so they don't have to run their own air-con and thus pay leccy..

I bet there's a few of you on TV who are guilty of it as well.. or at least some of you who have witnessed the same behavior lol... own up!

I had  a look at some images on google of the SETV and i noticed there is a "Enter before:" field.

What is this date exactly? Is it the date you enter on the form for "Date of arrival" ???

I'm about to embark on the process of getting a SETV from Liverpool.. I plan to stay in Thailand for 3 months so i will need to extend the visa while i'm there..

I noticed on the VISA application form there are two fields to fill out ;  "Date of arrival in Thailand". "duration of stay"

Does this basically  mean i have to book my flights beforehand and give exact dates? I was kind of hoping of getting the visa sorted first then worrying about booking specific dates. 

If i have to book flights first, will the consulate want to see the ticket dates? I will book a return flight 90 days apart. Will this be ok because i will be assuming i will be allowed to extend the visa 30 days.

What about the millions of Indians walking around selling nuts? and the ones selling dodgy watches in soi cowboy? Where do they get work permits for that?

In this situation i would be thinking if there is a way to rip them both off? but have them both blame each other? 

If your body overstays your visa the family will be liable for fines

Thailand has a population of about 67 million people. There are loads and loads and loads of decent, attractive, educated Thai woman that would jump at the opportunity to 'make it' with a 29 year old westerner.. assuming your not hideous looking and obese. 

You can find them easily if you use non-conventional means. 

Stay away from Soi Nana.. (obvious)

Stay away from Thai friendly and dating websites 

I might try sleeping on the beach once or twice on my up and coming trip.

Save 800baht a night! That's a nice meal and some beers! Some hotels allow you to store your luggage until you return..

I could store my luggage, check out and from 12 - 12 noon next day get hammered and fall asleep on the beach or if im lucky some girls apartment

Ok guy's you can all calm down i have scrapped the idea. I'll just stick to drinking loads of chang at my hotel before going out and hunting down the 45baht beer bars

I'm not trolling.. i'm thinking of ways to save money on my next trip in January whilst still having the same quality of holiday as last time. 

Not cheapskate.. just smart thinking. If i was a cheap charlie i'd stay at home in my hotel and drink 7/11 Chang 

I figure.. if i can buy a 7/11 chang and take it with me in my pocket.. then walk into a bar .. buy one of their rip off beers at 80baht.. and be able to have my cheap one at 40 baht (??) i'd be paying 120baht for 2 beers in a nice beer bar 

I shall be making a trip report thread with lots of photos so you pretentious high-roller lot can rip the piss out of me and feel good.. and the cheap bastards amongst us (loads on this forum) can get some value
