Road fines etc were not suddenly all introduced in ten the UK at the rates they are now - it has been a process of decades to get to where they are now.

One thing is the number of offences has gradually reduced making the serious ones all the more serious.....for instance the correct sequence of speeding at over 100 mph could in theory attract a £10,000 fine as well as a ban. But the original fines were much smaller even in relation to income. A sudden introduction in Thailand would just result in chaos and lack of enforcement.

Very Good you should work for the government here in thiland will get a free visa Airbagwill

  3. That's  nothing compared to the hospital in pattaya momoriel pattayglang  drip I had to pay 20,000 baht for one night to treat me for a nose bleed then I had a bill for another 5,000bhat for a hospital car my friend took me in his car then I had another bill for a blood transfusion which I did not have it was only a seline drip 2,000 baht because they told me they had to go out and get it sorry forgot hambuger and fries they had to get outside 200 baht total 27,200 baht I had to find my own way home they wanted me to come back in tree days and cheak me out did not go back again beat that 8months later had infection up my nose had to go to Bangkok hospital in rayone more meds 2000 baht !

Maybe, it might also make people think twice before coming on holiday to a country where foreigners are sentenced very differently to locals.

Then again maybe they won't care. It will be reported world wide anyway, that's for sure.

Two years supended prison sentence plus thousands of dollars in fines for mere graffiti - pathetic!

what was she thinking idiot this is Thailand !

45 out of 50 is a pass bro'.

Right at the moment Mrs owl is attempting to obtain her TDL. It's quite a trek to the centre and right now we are on 7 trips. Hopefully the last one will be tomorrow.

On the test itself,,,, well the questions are - as you pointed out - a little vague to say the least; especially on any parking ones. The actual driving is something of a joke. Two of the three points that have to be passed are on reversing, the third is driving along a straight white line. My wife took two goes at getting over a small hump, (not part of the test fortunately) bemoaning the pick-up on the way home. On Monday I watched an elderly lady take 17 minutes to drive around the test route that should take no more than 5; she passed. Dear, dear dear!!!

Fortunately I obtained my 11 year TDL in Non Han (Udon Thani Province) without having to do anything; apart from having my photo' taken and handing over my fee.

IThink you have that wrong only give you a 5yr licence with a uk licence !

The irony being that the IDP is not needed to drive here unless it is used to translate Driving License (from your home country) which does not have English Writing...

Note: When Applying for a Motorcycle Licence (at DLT Sukhumvit 101) all that was required was

    1) Valid UK Licence (no translation required)

    2) Medical Certificate (300B from a local clinic)

    3) Affirmation of Address

At the DLT in Bangkok the Clerk at the front desk told me I no longer required the Medical Certificate - correct or not, it was asked for when applying for the license.

In your shoes... I'd go back to the DLT in Kalasin and ignore the clerk at the front desk... and try to apply without the translation - the guy at the front desk may simply be mistaken or have misunderstood something he has read or been told (it happens a lot).

And, as we know, the rules are applied with varying degrees of stringency and quite often a smile and someone who's decided they like us is all it takes to get things done 'more efficiently'...

first time going for a thai driving liccence you need a doctors certificate whe you have got one for 5yrs next one no !

i would stop paying just like that,

and tell her the facts that getting divorced is more important

to her than it is to you,

since she will want to land another income one of these days.

my ex wife came strolling by after around a year and wanted a divorce,

there was no mentioning of financial compensation whatsoever

OK!but you had no kids or you did not mention it easy pizza !

Not just Chinese. We once had a younger Russian lady stay for a month. She was a Time Share sales person and would leave the apartment all beautified (and was a good looking  woman). Yet when she checked out the apartment was disgusting, especially the toilet. She had caused a blocked toilet yet kept on using it without telling us.

Land Lords fault shoud have taken a 1000 baht deposit before they cheak out !

It's been discussed in another thread a while ago, where it was stated to be due to the government has changed the taxation.

Where I live, I saw that Mount Clair white (fruit) wine is back in 3-liter cartons (only) for 995 baht a piece in Makro; seem like new stock at new price. Both Makro and Tesco-Lotus still has quite a lot of old stock of Mount Clair red wine, whilst almost all other boxed wine has disappeared, apart from a few (very) dry red, which presumably nobody wants, as they they have been boring alone on the shelf for a couple of month...

Still get mont clair red 5lt box in ban chang 1000baht
