1. Family group with member married to American but absent said American likely not a good idea.
2. Not presenting your ties to Thailand another red flag (visa is for her but your status effects chance of return). Show of your passport could have helped.
3. Gray work status not a positive factor - but seems not to have been presented.
4. We who obtained were talking tourist visa being approved for Thai wife.
5. The marriage visa talk would be immigrant visa where you plan to immigrate to USA to live (should not be for tourist travel but can be recommended even by Embassy) and requires full background data/check taking many months.
1. I wouldn't be allowed at the interview under any circumstance.
2. I was mistaken. She had my passport, but was not asked to show it.
3. agree
4. Ok, thats good to know. That a tourist visa is at least possible.
5. right, not what we are seeking. Just want a short visit.
thanks.

Thanks for all the responses:
To those that said that they got visa's for their wives easily, are you talking about about B-2 (visitor/tourist) visa?
I am unfamiliar with the other visas based on marriage, immigrant status, green card. All I know is that any visa requiring us to move to live in the US for any longer than a month is out of the question.
She didn't bring my passport. But my passport would have shown I have been in Thailand for 5 years without having gone back in that time.
To the people that suggest an agent. My wife dismissed that idea vehemently. saying (she had read on some Thai facebook groups) they are no good (she didn't say why).
Yes, both my children are USA citizens born abroad, they got their CBRAs at the USA embassy in Bangkok
I work as a digital nomad (its a grey area). I transfer what I need to live from the USA to my Thai bank. Thai immigration never asks me how I get my money or where it comes from. She wasn't asked about my job by the US immigration officer.
The denial is generic. No specific reason is given besides "ineligible under section 214(b)" (basically not enough proof she is certain to return to Thailand).
One thing I didn't originally mention. She applied with her brother and her mother. Her brother is also a government teacher. My wife said applying as a group would more likely get them approved because it seems like a family trip (not a young woman trying to start a new life in America illegally).
To the person who wrote a government teacher is low pay and not prestigious. False on both counts (millions of Thais would kill for a government teacher job). Maybe for the USA immigration officer doesn't care, but she's not exactly a somtum seller.

There should be no problems with getting a visa for your wife if you are legally married and provide all the required information. My wife got her 10 year visa with no issues. You should go back and check the application one more time to ensure you made no errors in the application and also review what happened at the interview to determine if there were any issues during that interview. You should try again but double check everything to make sure the application is flawless. Good luck !
was it a B-2 visa? I didn't fill out the DS-160 with her the first time. I will the next time.

There must be a good reason they denied her. Did she make it to the final interview at the Consulate?
My Thai wife had zero issues obtaining her visa, but we used a reputable agent in our prior home town of Chiang Mai. They made everything easy. You might consider employing an agent to find out why your spouse was denied and then consider using them to start a new application.
What kind of visa did your wife get? Mine just wants a B-2 for a short visit.

TLDRThis question is for American's that are legally married to Thai nationals. is it possible for my Thai wife to get a B-2 (visitors visa) to the USA despite being married to me (a citizen?)__________________________________________________________________MORE INFOWe live in Thailand and we have no intention on living in the United States. We just want to visit my mom and dad.She was denied despite having a serious job/career (official government teacher), assets (2 cars paid in full, a house mortgage with 500k Baht in equity, shares in the "teacher savings union" bank, land valued also at several hundred thousand baht). We thought these were sufficient to prove strong ties requiring her to return to Thailand. (My wife suspects the system did not correctly show the above-mentioned assets because she updated her online file but never got confirmation of the update from the embassy website).Anyway, my question as stated in the beginning. Is it possible for a Thai, who is married to an American citizen, to be issued a non-immigrant (visitor/tourist) visa?My wife and I are quite distraught. We have 2 young sons that my late-aged mom and dad have not seen in over 2 years. Also, if there is a better forum for these sort of questions please let me know. Thank you.- 4

Hello Fellow Isaanees!
I invite all of you our Chaiyaphum City (English Language) Group. Whereas Korat and Khon Kaen have big membership groups on facebook it won't help you much if you're looking for a good burger, massage, or ear doctor in Chaiyaphum Town. There used to be a group of nearly 400 of us expats in Chaiyaphum but it was run by a pedo who was deported! Let it be known this new Chaiyaphum group is Pedo free! Welcome!!!!
(just search "Chaiyaphum City" in Facebook). Thank you all!

I know this hasn't seen a post in a month and is a bit of rambling but
I always had similar issues with my local Honda dealership, as far as i know they are run as franchises and the people working there don't seem to give a damn about anything.
I go to the local one for oil change AND maintenance, I show them the book with the page open to maintenance while pointing down at the list of things (it's in Thai, very easy to understand what I want). they say "OK"
mechanic does oil change, takes off bike and rolls it down saying it's ready
so, I ask, "what about maintenance?" = puzzled look, clerk at desk translates, mechanic shrugs.. gets on the bike, drives it 200 meters down the road and back, and then says "everything OK!"
I get only charged for oil change, which is fine but I needed them to check everything and I would have paid for it but they can't be bothered because the mechanics are paid by the hour whether they help me or not
this happened about 4 times by now, different bikes over the years but always the same location.. the next one over is about 20km away (maybe I should go there)
we went there today and checked in the accessories order book that they have on a desk.. wanted a helmet for the Ms. found 3 different models I wanted.. also saddle bags and a front faux leather bag (goes on like a basket).
asked about the bags, how much? won't answer me, want to know what model of bike I have.. ignore me asking how much to go check which bike and then start saying that we can't order because it's for the 2019 bike model and I have 2018..
they are saddle bags that have straps under the seat, it makes zero difference which year my bike is.
I get her to ask about the helmets, cannot order, out of stock every single thing I ask them about, cannot cannot cannot.
so today, I get the Ms to call Honda directly and exactly as someone else said above they only thing they do is provide dealership numbers and nothing else.
we called 2 more dealerships with 5 different items I'd like to order just to be told "we don't have stock, can't order"
So I understand its Franchise which means Honda corporate wouldn't give a damn. I guess the frustrating part is I don't speak Thai well enough to go into the dealership and say I want to talk with the owner. They would just lie to the owner and make me out to be crazy. I had a similar experience with a samsung aircon unit. After it was sold neither Homepro or Samsung in Korat could give the slightest damn that it was constantly breaking down. Not sure what to do in these situations.

An important question for a liquid cooled Honda Click.
Haha. I don't know for sure but I think my toddler stuck the house up the exhaust pipe when he was playing water. This of course would not be Honda's fault. I was <deleted> off at the staff at the one dealership in Chaiyaphum town literraly couldnt be bothered to leave their seats to check out the problem.

I ended up taking my bike to another Honda dealership and they fixed it (water had gotten into the oil). I had to pay for them to change the oil like 3 times or whatever. I didn't mind paying. But I was really appalled by how impossibly apathetic the mechanics and front office people were at the dealership I bought it from. Does anyone know, are Honda dealerships corporate or franchise hear in Thailand?
I'm not buying Honda again (car or bike). I have a suzuki Ciaz, everytime I go into the suzuki dealership I'm treated like they cherish my business. Honda's gotten to big for their own briches it seems to me. F them

Last week I booked a test drive on the Honda.co.th official website. A Honda Jazz for the wife. I arrived 10 minutes early (stupid farrang) they knew I was arriving and offered me a Honda Accord to test drive!?!? <deleted>!!!
I complained on their website and had someone phoning me flapping the next day.
I use Google Chrome with auto translate.

Hello,
Is there a way to contact Honda Thailand customer support. I have to make a complaint about a local dealership. My click (purchased new and paid in full) is still under warranty. Its 2 years old but has had some problems with water getting where it shouldn't. I have brought it there on 3 occasions. Each time I am treated with utter aloofness and inconsideration. They simply cannot be bothered, not the mechanic, not the manager. I even had my wife remind them they are responsible, my bike is under warranty still. This last time, the mechanic was so sleepy and gave zero <deleted>s about me he didn't even bother to get up from his chair to look at the bike. I went to another branch in my town. Nevertheless, I will not stand for this. I need to contact Honda corporate. The website is all in Thai. Does anyone know how I can get a rep to talk to in English. Thank you.

Should i even try going to the thai consulate to get a tourist visa on my usa passport now or is that also no longer an option?

of course you would not have a stamp and when they ask you where you came you only needed to say you transited in Bangkok.
Ok i think i get what ur saying. But that would still mean i would have had to explicitly lie. I got no qualms acting dumb but im not comfortable lying to immigration officer
-
But i did have a stamp. On my israel passsport. They asked specifically to see exit stamp. The only plausible way to not have exit stamp would to have come directly from usa. But they knew air asia 1040 was not coming from any where in the usa. Maybe im dense but i dont get it

You will show your US passport on entry to Laos.
Didn't work. At Vientiane airport at visa on arrival i presented my usa passport with no exit stamp. Officer asks me where i came from. I decided not to lie to him and my arrival card already had a flight number from a flight from thailand. They made me use my israeli passport. Not happy. I think i misunderstood the instructions given to me here or did something wrong.

You can do an in/out by air, anywhere leaving Thailand on your Israeli passport and otherwise using your US passport throughout. You will be back in Thailand with a visa exempt on your US passport with no trouble. If going to Vientiane, you would also have the option of getting a tourist visa in your US passport before your return.
When i get to Vientiane airport for my visa on arrival do i use my israeli or american?

Thanks to all for responding.

BritTim,
Can you elaborate? For example, i land in laos and present my USA passport at the airport and then come back land in Thailand and present the same passport at the airport... Or do i have to go to the thai consulate in laos and get a new thai visa on my USA passport there?
Thanks much and sorry i am new to all this. First time in thailand

I make 2500 dollars a month. Great for Thailand but pretty much poverty level in America. Also, I had cancer. Treated in Thailand thanks to my wife's health insurance as a government employee. In remission now but I still go to Khon Kaen hospital every 3 to 6 months for check ups. If I moved to America, and the cancer came back, I'd be a dead man. I can't get private insurance in America having had cancer. Should I include these details?
Also, why is it better to show debt than to show assets? We own two cars outright. Should we not even mention that?
