I would hesitate. They could just as easily change their minds.

Please try to follow along. what I said was:
Are you trying to say that rent alone in most US cities is US$2,000?
I bet not 5% of the cities in the US have average rents of $2,000 a month.
Yeah, if you want to live in San Francisco, Manhattan, West Los Angeles or Honolulu, you'd be in trouble.
Now if you have something that disputes that, bring it. I don't doubt there are a lot of expensive places to live, but apparently you can buy a two bedroom, two bath condo in Vancouver WA with zero down and $1,556 a month.
I stand corrected. You can get a cheap house.

Seems like it would make sense to cut deals with countries that have high vaccination rates, or only allow people in who have been fully vacinated.
Thailand could open in June.

Rent for a decent two bedroom in Vancouver, WA (a suburb of PDX) is about $1750, higher for a house.
It would be cheaper in cowlitz county, but who wants to live there?
Check numbeo for prices.

Which country will have the most people vaccinated in the shortest time with the most effective vaccine?

Hell, that would apply to almost anywhere. $2,000/month will go a long way even in expensive America.
Maybe small town Iowa.
Not most cities where rent alone might be US$2000/month.

Has Thailand's xenophobia coincided with mass tourism, or is it the result of different kinds of expats and tourists?
Genuinely curious here.

Don't take the vaccine, don't expect hospitalization.
-
Tourists with a internationally recognized vaccination passport would be the way to go.

Hard to make plans with so much uncertainty.

An excellent opportunity to reinvest in infrastructure upgrades. It would keep people employed and make things so much nicer for when the tourists come back.

Well, it will be interesting to see how this works out. Will they spend money in high end chain stores like Gucci, or will it be King power mart?
Will they stay at luxury hotels or crammed ten to a room in a Chinese owned property.
-
So, that's US$257,000 for a condo.

Its a very good time to buy that secondhand expat car and or washing machine there are adds everywhere.
Have rents come down?

What is the checkpoint all about?

It would not be a bad idea to shut and demolish some of the older guest houses and rebuild to a more modern standard.

How much was the taxi fare to Patong? Did they try the jet skis? How about a presentation on time shares, that's always fun. What else? Bar fine a single mom from Isaan, take an expensive tuk tuk ride, speed boat tour to phi phi with an amped up meth induced "captain."

I had heard that many new high end hotels had been built. While this is mostly an expat forum, I was curious whether rooms are being filled or competition has brought down the price. I have stayed at Boathouse several times and really enjoyed it. But prices are still quite high.

Has anybody noticed movement from the financial residency requirements? And when I say this, I mean people leaving the country. Would like to get insight from people who rent to expats, and curious about location, not only where they were living, but where they're going to.

Usually they are fairly representative of their profile. But these work nicely for the mongerer: no barfine, no lady drinks, anytime of the day, and you don't have to leave your hotel.Agreed and who’s ever made a sound decision about any lass when it’s 1:30am and you’re staring at the world through a well-oiled set of beer goggles? A note about those apps; has anyone here seen a profile photo that matches the date that actually turns up? [emoji1781]

You'll love it. It will be just like China, but warmer.
Lots of cheap guest houses along Nanai.

Police step up investigation into mystery deaths of Thai billionaires on Koh Tao

Isn't Koh tao the place where the British couple died and they blamed it on Burmese?
Number two, is Koh tao open for tourism, or just wealthy people?
