I would not rule out suicide just yet.   Once the Thai police investigate a bit further they may turn up compelling evidence to support a theory that he cut his own throat.

5.56 is a low caliber, high'ish velocity round. The bullet itself in the AR15 is almost the same caliber as your grandpappies .22 with a larger case and more powder.

    5.56, .223, .22 almost the same caliber.

While you are right that the projectiles of these are all about the same size they are certainly not the same power.

5.56mm is the current NATO and US military standard ammunition.

The picture in the OP shows a pretty short barrel (so low muzzle velocity) weapon which would not be much good for hunting but OK for up close combat, IMO

  3. Up to a few months ago I lived in a 1 room apartment off Silom Rd.   Always plenty to do and always plenty of other expats around.   I have now moved to a place called "Town in Town Village" sort of in between Lat Prao Rd and Ramkamheang Rd.   More space and lower cost.   There seems to be a lot of young expats around, probably because of all the modelling and casting agencies in this village.   Problem is there do not seem to be very many older (~60 years old) expats about nor do there seem to be many expat pubs around.

So, can anyone tell me where the best local expat pub can be found?   I am not looking for a Soi Cowboy bar (but if you know there is one here please do let me know), what I am looking for is a place where older expats have a beer and a meal and pass the time of day (or night).

Look forward to hearing back from you all.
