Other people have said enough times.

Go to a key cutters, (locksmith) he will go with you to the bike with a blank key and a file and make an impression then file it. They usually do it from the seat lock. You will have to pay him for his time closing his stall. Unless you get the bike to him.

Then get a copy made as well.

I am aware 'other people have said enough times'... so you didn't really need to comment further did you... but chose to anyway, and being of a more positive mindset I thank you for your time.

I suggest a good search at home. It's not like you can forget the key when somewhere else because you need it to drive the bike home. And if you still manage to forget it while out and about without the bike then why take the key? I've also attached some little accessory to my keys, makes them easier to spot and less likely to lose.

I don't think you read the initial post! To clarify my gf met with friends and went shopping, I did lunch with friends and when met back up she had lost the key so it's not at home! I've always had 2, for such a situation but she didn't get a 2nd key cut after losing the previous one... Hence my now current predicament... Bike is sat in Chalong, had to taxi it home.

  3. Hi All

I'm after info really regarding a location/s that might be of interest to source for this years St. Patricks Say on the 17th March.

Before I get assumed responses about farang drinking etc etc, there's no judgment required and my reason is purely wanting to attend something like a social gathering of sorts and to honour my fathers memory.

I did source this info... 'The Green Beer Party at Patong Beach in Phuket is a fun-filled event where attendees can enjoy green beer, a St. Patrick’s Day tradition and the party also includes live music and dance performances, making it a memorable event for all'. But I'm unable to get any more info such as is it a real thing that's actually happening etc, so if anybody has any info regarding that or can advice about anything else happening in Phuket on the 17th I'd be very appreciative.

Have a fantastic day guys! 🙂

  4. Hi

I’ve spent hours looking online regarding this issue, humid country etc. I’ve never encountered the sticky ikky variety here before, I’m aware of it and my concerns are how to properly store it to avoid mould growth.

Some people suggest to refrigerate and others are strongly opposed to it! It’s also suggested to put in a glass mason jar with a silica gel pack, to absorb possible humidity in the jar, but then the space in the jar between the weed and the lid would have air and potentially could encourage mould!

So where I’m at right now is a Mason Jar with silica gel pack inside and paper towel to seal that gap between the weed and jar clasp lid but am very open to peoples input as I had a friend overseas who unknowingly smoked mould weed which made real problems for him.

Eeeesh I’ve gone round and around with this trying to determine the best way to move forward so any help will be hugely appreciated!

    Thanks, have an awesome day!

Maybe we assumed that you were seeking a retirement visa because you mentioned not being able to deposit 800000 baht which is one threshold for such a visa... keep working until you can come up with it... it's only $23000usd or $31000cd... not allot if planning to live here... I shopped around and found a good agent for a reasonable rate and had no hassles... there no free lunch and you get what you pay for... you sound like you are living on a shoestring and cannot afford to live where you are and think that you shoulld be abke to come to Thailand and live on a shoestring and not have to pay for anything as well.

No... that's not the case and so many people here are incredibly judgemental. For the most part people don't read the previous msgs. I mentioned I no longer have 800,000 baht to hand as a person had mentioned that requirement regarding the retirement visa yes. I'm far from a shoestring budget but have investments in place, so as to why you make such an assumption regarding myself having the outlook of not being able to live where I am and I shouldn't have to pay for anything is a ludicrous leap of imagination on your part.

It's a free market concept... shop around and find the fee that you can afford... if you cannot afford it quit whining and do it yourself... maybe reconsider retiring until you can afford to do so.

I've never whined nor mentioned I was retired, people have assumed so as I'm over 50! I've merely asked what visa options there are moving forward.

"I realise ultimately I should get a more long term visa, but I don't want to use a scamming agent and don't want to break the bank in acquiring something."

And I realize that your narrative is straight out of ignorance.

Unless of course you know of a list of 'good Agents', and a list of "scamming agents".

Many threads on this topic. But now I will not take the time to educate you on this subject. Research it on your own.

You realised nothing! But merely assumed! I don't understand why you would choose to jump to conclusions, when I first mentioned scamming agents, something that does exist, I was referring to my own experience enquiring about the same visa with different agents and some, the price was far higher, not on a parr with others, so I think I don't need to explain myself further, but assuming I'm ignorant when I'm stating facts from my experience is simply ignorance from your side and an exercise in time wastage for me to reply to you!

Your time and your tone was not warranted and I'll thank you to not waste my time further and seriously hope in time you can establish that if you have problems then you should address them rather than projected your crap onto others!!!!!!

I think this is the most serious part of your long post.

IF immigration has the ability to make these types of notes on people's records (can anybody else confirm, please?), and if this is on your file, I think you will have serious problems in the future.

Yeah I agree, somebody else mentioned that getting the 30 day extension shouldn't pose any issues but leaving the country and then returning will be an issue so I need to decide on a visa to move forward with. I see the note on the system as a warning to myself really, which I'm grateful for! Much better than being refused entry etc!

OP you’ve got some good information… ..suggest going to an agents office if available in

city you reside and ask them what options they have to fit your needs. It won’t cost you anything

and may help …. make sure to use an agent that’s recommended…

    Good luck

Awesome! Nice to get a positive msg with good advice! Thanks, have a great day!

and yet using scamming agents that sell you airline tickets you don't actually have is ok.

If you are living off of your savings with no income and don't have enough to meet the visa financial requirements I'd say your going to be in trouble eventually.

'and yet using scamming agents that sell you airline tickets you don't actually have is ok'... Not sure why you're presuming things as i've not mentioned that was a course of action that I took!

And yes I agree with your 2nd point, that is why I'm seeking advice from others as to how to proceed.

You also mentioned you we asked about a onward ticket at the airport on the way to Thailand. That's a requirement of the regulations in Thailand for visa exempt entey and they issue that to the airlines via the IATA system that shows on the airline screen at checking in. Not all airline enforce it but If you had been denied entry at imm when you arrived the airline would have to pay to return you to the point of origin for not checking the regs.

I did think it might have had some relation to that yes. covering all bases etc. Thanks for clarifying.

It sounds like your visa-exempt, border hopping days are numbered.

British citizens older than 50 can apply for a 90-day Non-immigrant 'O' retirement visa at the Royal Thai Embassy in London. In lieu of a pension and proof thereof, you need to show a minimum of 3 months UK bank statements holding only £10,000. It's all done by eVisa these days.

I think this shows a more 'serious' intent to stay long time, especially if you take those three months to get the funds in a Thai bank that will allow you to 'convert' to a Retirement Extension and stay relatively hassle-free for a year.

Those jigging about with ED's are on a hiding for nothing IMHO, especially as you qualify by age for a 'proper' visa.

Not all agents are scammers and their fees are arguably competitive if the 800,000 baht funding is a problem.

With the 90-day Non-immigrant 'O' retirement visa, you have to prove a certain amount of monthly income as well no? As I have no income but living off of savings.

  13. 3 minutes ago, DrJack54 said:

It can be obtained in UK and also in Savannakhet.

That visa has 12 month validity and provides a 90 day stamp each entry.

    Effectively providing 15 month stay.

    Cost is 5000b

Multi entry visa based on retirement, you've mentioned no funds in the bank, but I can't find any info regarding this, can you direct me to a link or somewhere that will give me an overview and specify requirements?

Yes indeed and I knew it was literally a matter of time hopping around! Thank you to yourself and others who've taken the time to inform me here, as yes, knowing that the 45 days entry is now 30 days, it clarifies matters regardless of the plane tkt and that there shouldn't be any issue getting a 30 day extension.

Regarding the 90-day Non-immigrant 'O' retirement visa, I'd been told it was 20k in the bank for three months, so that sounds a lot better, do those funds then have to be in a thai account, as I've been informed every time a person re applies those funds will need to be in the account either to show a number of months past history or need to be in the account indefinitely, in order to qualify to be in the country with 'that' visa?

You've mentioned not all agents are scammers and their fees are arguably competitive if the 800,000 baht funding is a problem...

800,000 baht for? As £10,000 is around 426,000 baht.
