Thank you all for the advise and comments. So it seems a Non-O visa is easier. One question I have now is that a Non-O requires proof of residency. Does that mean I am going to sign a one year rental agreement before I actually even receive my visa?
Thanks again...Mike
Quick question, what is the cost of applying for a Covid extension. Cheers

or where they will be staying on Koh Larn - has there been a lot of building going on there or are they putting tents up - the place is the size of 3 beaches with little else or room for little else
I can only imagine you have not been there. I had the privilege of living on Kho Larn for many a time. The island has a multitude of beautiful accommodation places. I would recommend it too any traveller.

Hi, there is a barge that goes to the island, generally twice a day. It is not far from the passenger ferry. If you are going only for a short time, its best to hire a bike on the island. 200bht a say.

Most of you TV guys are unbelievable. 500bht, what the <deleted>. Obviously you spend your days looking for something to Thai bash about. I suspect none of you are in Thailand and quite possibly, you are amongst the banned Farang.

I have, had lived on Koh Larn off an on, for 10 plus years. I say of and on only because, if I want to keep my pension I need to return home for 6 months. Koh Larn is paradise, amazing people and I miss all them so much.

Jomtien Immigration, love them. Arrived back in Thailand on 5th April, on getting to my accommodation I found that I needed to exit by the 5th April. Big mistake. Went to Jomtien, 5 mins in the queue and explained the mistake, 2 mins later, all fixed, no charge. On the 3rd of May, went back to get a 30 day ext. Arrived at 11.20, but the time I had filled in the form it was 11.45,at the counter the lady pointed to the sign saying closed until 1pm. Bugger, then the big boss comes over, prints me out a number, speaks to the lady who handles the ext, 5 mins later all done and out of there. Brilliant.

After Having just spent the best part of 5 hours with MSD, the NZ govt pension people, I can tell you now, if they are getting a pension in Thailand, then it is without the Govt knowledge. End of story.

Im a 67yo Kiwi. I am allowed out of the country for no more than 6 months, ie: I need to spend one day more in NZ than Thailand. If I overstay mt pension will be stopped and, heres the kicker, I WILL be required to pay back whatever has been paid. Unfortunately, Thailand is not one of the countries I can take my pension too. Sucks.

Best he doesn't come to NZ or Australia. Max of 50 cigarettes.

Hi, I'm a Kiwi, been going to Thailand for many years. This time when I applied for a SETV I was told , yes I need a flight out of Thailand, needed a letter from my accommodation provider stating how long I will be there and a copy of their Thai ID and Passport. Getting very strict now. Its almost like they don't want tourists.
-
Thanks OJAS, already done that. Cheers

I have been coming to Thailand annually since 2007, I have always applied for, and received either the SETV or METV with no problems. I generally stay between 1 and 5 months. This time when I applied for a SETV with what I thought were all the correct documents , I was declined. I rang the Embassy in NZ and spoke to a lovely lady who remembered me from past applications. She told me that 4 months previously, things have changed. Everything was in order<except my accommodation. I have always stayed at the same place and previously just given the address of where Im staying. Now I need to have a letter from the people I stay with, saying how long I will be staying and it needs to be accompanied by a copy of their passport or Thai ID. Unfortunately this is not possible to organise before my trip. That is why the 30 day on arrival. Good guys in, dont think so.

Hi all, on arrival I will get a 30 Visa, i hope to extend this for another 30 days. Question is, how soon after getting initial 30 days can I get ext. Can I get extra 30 days soon after entry or do I need to wait until initial 30 days is due to run out. Cheers.
-
Hi Brit Tim, thanks for your reply, Im a Kiwi so should be ok.
-
Hi Brit Tim, i will get a 30 on arrival, can I then get a 30 ext or do I need to do a Visa run. Thanks

To D Lang, what a <deleted> you are. Congratulations to the students instead of snide remarks. Go back to your own country.

I play Snooker at a very nice club, I am constantly challenged by people who want to play and beat the Falang. it may be hot but it never ceases to amaze me how many have there shirts/ Tshirts pulled up to their necks. Ugly, sure is. Just take it off if its that hot.

I'm more inclined to think the brake failed, on the pole.

Ubon Joe,, I have been coming to Thailand since 2010, firstly for 4 weeks at a time. Last year I came for 6 months and intend to come back at the end of April for another 6 months. Last year I got a Multi entry Visa, I think it cost me $250 NZ. Is it now free.
