Hey,
I've been back to back in Thailand on ED and Tourist Visas since 2015 with three 3-4 month stays in Europe in between. I'm in my home country at the moment and got a fresh passport and a METV and am looking to fly back to BKK next week. I'm surprised to read of all the denied entries also from people with fresh passports and some with METV so this has me worrying. I've spent most of this year in Thailand on ED Visa (Thai language) and I wouldn't pass any extensive testing by an IO. I've had one denied entry from December 2017, where I was on ED visa with re-entry permit from Indonesia and had to fly back home. Back then IO who tried to help me through told me to get new passport and come back next week, which I did. Haven't had any issues since. I was trying to get the Elite Visa two or three months ago and was told by TE to wait until early next year as I had a 3-4 day overstay end of 2016.
Anyways, I've been out of touch with immigration process and now realize that IOs have become even more strict. I already have my flight booked for next week, non-refundable unfortunately, but thinking about flying to Vietnam - Laos - Udon - BKK to avoid BKK immigration. This kinda makes me feel like a criminal and it's a stupid amount of extra money + time to spend travelling, but might be worth the effort, if I'm switching to TE after METV anyways right?
So fresh passport; flying from homecountry; METV. Am I overthinking this and I should be fine at immi or cancel flightplans for next week?

OP - you might consider rewording your title. i think most readers will just pass over your post after seeing the title saying to themselves 'no chance of denial'. but in reality your real question relates to obtaining the TE visa with a history of overstays. as i recall, there was a recent thread that suggested more than one overstay was a problem for obtaining the TE visa. and the period of overstay didn't matter much. with a revised title, maybe one of the folks active in the other thread on the topic of TE visa/overstay will come on board here and assist.
i definitely remember reading the fee had to be paid before you knew if you actually got the TE visa affixed into the passport. again, if memory serves, the OP was concerned that he/she would pay and then get rejected based on overstay history.
Thanks for the heads-up. Do you mind pointing me to where I can edit the title?
Regarding payment: So the way it works is that you fill out the application for and I believe you make yourself liable to pay within 7 days of receiving the confirmation letter from TE (after they send it over to immigration for 1-3 months background check). You pay the money upon receiving the letter and then have a 30 day window to go through the process of affixing the actual visa in your passport. This is the point where IO may deny affixing the visa and reject your TE application. It's really annoying that they can not just sort this out when doing the 2 month background check. Note that, as long as you do not miss the 30-day window I'm told you will be getting a full refund if rejected. It's obviously still a huge gamble and commitment to be in limbo for up to 3 months and then be at the mercy of an IO despite background checks and 500k upfront.

I am also told there is a refund policy as long as I apply within 30 days after receiving the confirmation letter.

Not yet, no. You will make payment after receiving the confirmation letter, which will take 1-3 months. Yet confirmation letter does not guarantee the affixing of the visa by IO at airport or Chaeng Watthana.

Sorry, I mean getting denied while affixing the visa.

Hey,
I'm in the process of getting the TE 5 year visa. I have had multiple over-stays in the past, but usually not longer than 1-2 days and in the past 2 years only 1 time for 1 day. I have also been denied entry on ED visa before. I was on a 5 day vacation with a re-entry permit from Suvurnabhumi and IO rejected me because I did not carry 20k THB. I thought, given that I had the re-entry permit from a few days prior, I would not need to show anything so I didn't carry much cash. I'm being told now that it depends on IO whether or not I will get Elite on entry and my contact at Elite is telling me that noone under him has been denied yet. So I was wondering if any of you have heard of Elite Visa denials based on overstays or other things on entry?

I can not find application forms on neither of the two websites. Anyone has a link? Seems like they didn't update anything today.

Hey,
are any of you currently volunteering in Bangkok and/or can recommend Orgs? I have decided to stay here until late 2020 and I would like my visa situation to be as legitimate as possible. I would consider ED and would love to learn Thai but I don't feel comfortable with frequently hearing of people getting rejected. And getting a non-immigrant via dummy corp seems silly if I can actually provide a service that's helpful to others. I'm looking for something part-time 2-6 hours a week.

Hey
Just planning my trip. My flight to HK is at 11:05. So I'd usually be there around 10 ish. How long does the re-entry permit process take?
Thank you.

Does anyone know if it's standard procedure to have both of them?

What does the vertical one mean translated exactly?

Thanks a lot poorsucker. Guy please stop confusing and making up statements.
Section 12, paragraph 9
Having no money or bond as prescribed by the Minister under him.
This should be fine. If I show them a bank account with 5 figures in € and 20k baht there should be no way they decline me right?.

Okay some people say it means they believe I'm working and others say it's that I don't have enough funds on me. Can somebody clarify please?

Okay. That's good right? So I should be able to go to landborder with 20k?

UPDATE:
Okay this blew up quick. Cliffs:
- they didn't let me fly back to Germany despite me offering to book the ticket online and also being able to go to an ATM and withdraw the neccessary cash
- I only had 7.5k baht on me and they used all of that for the night in detention and for the flight back to Laos.
- I called German Embassy and they basically couldn't do anything to help
- I met the guy from the other thread in detention and he just... Donno how to say it. They just didn't give a <deleted> about his appeal and anything he had to say and at some point they just threw him in the next plane to Malaysia. They didn't even give him an appointment with supervisor
- Arrived in Laos and almost didn't get entry to Laos. They canceled my visa for whatever reason then said I should call my family to book me a flight home. I told them I got the funds to fly home but I want to see my passport first and speak to my embassy in Laos. Guy was being an <deleted> again until some supervisor showed up and talked to me. First guy who actually listened and he gave me a new visa for Laos and let me enter. Also told me to go through the landborder and said it should work.
NOW:
Now I'm in my hotel in Vientiane. They didn't mark my passport with anything and the visa is still valid. What do I do? The guy at immigration btw also said "You can come back when you want but next time bring 20.000.". Just shows what a pce of shit that guy was knowing I was gonna be put in jail and then deported just because he didn't let me walk the literally 20 meters to an ATM. So unnecessary.
Anyways. What would you guys recommend me to do now? I can theoretically go through the border. Try at least. I got no marks nada, no text in my passport and my visa is still valid. Anyone has experiences with going 1 day later? I need your help here guys. Does anyone have any contacts that could help me here? PM me pls if you do. Any help whatsoever is much appreciated. I'll eat something now and take a shower then see what I'm gonna do.

Haha I just realized Kophangan lover is probably the other white guy in detention right now. He's sleeping though.

Yeah just saw it. Reading it right now. What's the plan moving forward? I'm 24 years old if I didn't mention that earlier and it's of any use. I still don't get how they declined entry despite me having signed up and paid for language school and having all the neccessary papers + a valid ED visa. It's insane.

Hey,
I got a German passport. I've had 4 tourist visas and one visa on arrival in it. I left to Laos 3 days ago with 2 days overstay (national holiday) to get my ED visa. My ED visa was for a Thai language school. Returned to Bangkok today. Immi officer pulled me out and I got interviewed. I was asked to show 20k THB and I only had 8k on me but I told them I could show them my banking account on phone or go to any ATM and withdraw the money. Guy was powertripping for whatever reason and didn't let me. Said he doesn't trust me and told me I'll go home. I'm in the detention cell right now on 3g. Already been here for a good 8 hours and it sucks. Coackroaches everywhere no blankets no pillows. It's a good time.
Now. I need to come back asap. I got a condo in Thong Lo with all my belongings. I got my friends here and my training. I want to live and stay here. What's my best go at coming back? Get a new passport and pray? Go through another airport (today was Suvurnabhumi)? Try to sign up for next semester at Uni? I just need to sort this out asap and get back here. So any help is appreciated. Or if anyone has contacts that could help me please PM.
Cheers guys

Do you have a referral for this by any chance? How do I get to those agents and how much do you think I'll be paying for next day? Cheers
Will I be denied entry at Suvarnabhumi?

Alright thank you for the response. I'll make a decision later today. But given how stressful this is I might just avoid BKK. Would hate to have a new PP with denial stamp and having to fly back to home country because of IO having a bad day.
