  1. I have a Siam account currently.. Today in the USA I visited chase bank which offers a card with a line of credit in which u can withdraw cash from an ATM.. (not a cash advance) Then at the end of the month, u simply pay back the amount of cash taken out. annual fee of about $100... I am conisdering this simple option..

Citibank also recomemded I open a bank account in the USA & at their branch in BKK.. making transfers about $11 up to $1000 per day..

    Debating over the 2 options..

  2. This was 2 years ago when I lived in bkk..

I had an account at Siam Bank.. Tried to transfer funds from my USA bank account into Siam commercial bank:

However Siam Bank requested a "US corresponding bank account number" or something like that.. I can't exactly remeber the phrase.. This was in addition to my USA bank account number and routing number.

My bank in the USA had no clue what they were talking about.. so I had to transfer funds from my brokerage account instead..

Does anyone know of Thai banks that only need a routing number and bank account number for a USA bank, to transfer to Thailand??

I am looking for a simple way of doing this transfer... Perhaps this is only a problem for USA people? I don't want this problem when I return..

  3. I am wondering if the ekamai bus station will let me store one of my large suitcases for 3 days, while i take a trip to the beach? It's just a huge pain to haul this piece around..

Can I simply pay a daily fee? Otherwise I will most likely have to take a taxi, which is way more

    expensive.. :)

  4. I am looking for a resource with a list of agents for entertainers in Bangkok.

Does this exist? Is there a website?

I have yet to locate an agent in Thailand.

Maybe there is a different name for this?

    Best..

    Happy new decade!

  5. Well, to be honest, usually it is the newbies that get hooked hardest, with their first 'stunner' that is a mere 'good looking' for other expats, and in their confusing as to why this 'stunner' would even talk to them they will accept abuse or rip-offs...and sometimes even marry them.

    Again, the rule is:

    - Don't fall for the first one that smiles to you.

After one has gone through a couple of 'lookers', ones taste might be more refined...

I see that too.. but I'm not exactly a newbie.. have lived here for 4 yrs.. gone thru some crazies.. and been with more hotties than i could have ever imagined.. so am begining to think all thai women are a little crazy to some degree.. But, what i do know is it's an eye opener when a chick isn't trying to constantly spend your money, and using her own for nightly outings.. so i have always acknowledged the good qualities too.

It comes down to weighing the pros and cons really.

  6. i hear ya guys.. i do agree more and more.. funny the thai female freinds i have say i should give it a chance with the engagement.. but every guy says bolt.

i am imagining even the next 5 yrs as engaged / married, and the idea is less and less attractive to me..

Thanks for the confirmation.. Everyone wants that financial security, I actually think every women pretty much marries to some degree, for this. It is deeply encoded to pursue stability and security in a man, just like it's deeply encoded in us men to pursue the hottest women we can find.

    :)

  7. holy smokes... last night and today had the mother of all fights..

She made me think she was actually psychotic in with her words... wow.. the sh%t hit the fan big time..

cus i haven't engaged yet. In her nonsensical chatter, she actaully said she would kill me if she could get away with it, then took shots at my family, and freinds..

I really think she needs pro help. She cannot control her rage. I feel bad for her.

How, how can something so stunningly beautiful be like this?? How?

  8. (oops guess other thiavisa members were logged on this comp..)

well her angry rants have become much more brief in duration... and are only about my other female freinds.. and waiting for me to engage.. But, I must the say mutual love has grown between us.. I believe that is legit,, and not about money since i am somewhat cheap :) and live very modestly.. I know how easy it would be for her to marry a rich older guy.. But, she is very honest and trustworthy with a good heart.

She has improved her temper as well..

I am just wondering if we where to engage, & we later decide that it isn't working, would this be devistating to her and her Thai family?

We have not actually lived together for more than a 5 days at a time..

  9. haha.. seems like it's a landslide vote here.

Also, makes me think, if she was a catch, why 2-3 guys would ditch her..

It's too bad that most women can't just enjoy things as they are, & try to force a guy to marry before he's ready..(For the women who may be reading this: Pressuring a guy to marry Only pushes them further away.)

It seems if somebody "loves" another person, they will not try to pressure them and threaten with ultimatums, etc..

Are there any "normal" thai chicks out there? :o

  10. I am looking into becoming a teacher in Thailand.. possibly an International teacher, so it may give me a better chance to travel around..

    My question is:

I am currently in my home country USA for my 1 yr visa for Thailand. While i am here i would like to best prepare myself for a teaching position when i return.. I currently have a bachelors degree in buss, but nothing in the way of teaching.. My goal would be to start out teaching english, but then maybe move onto a comp teaching class..

What would you recommend in the way of certificates / degrees, etc... that i can obtain here, before my journey back to Thailand?

    Thanks guys,

    mike

  11. I just gotta say something ( Apparently Uncommon Sense )

Wear a freak'n condom guys! And make dam sure he has one on Girls!

One of my close female friends just informed me that she has had unprotected sex with her now ex-BF.. I wanted to say how stupid that is, but felt bad due to her obvious stress.

What the hel_l is going on??!?!?! Nothing in Thailand has amazed me more than this unbelievable practice.

Then she said that her period is late, which has never been late.. She informed her ex about it and he wants her to abort if it's true..

Today she will find out at the doctors office.. She is hoping nothing is coming anytime soon.. I am wishing this for her too.

Risk no condom = Disease, or maybe a baby u aint ready for !!!!

Wake up men and women! DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU.. I have always worn one and ALWAYS will..

ps. yes she really is my platonic friend.

  12. it's just that the good times are really great, but the bad times really suck!

She can only be an angel or a devil. There is no middle... those are her words..

I wonder sometimes if she has some mental issues..

  13. I have had a Thai GF for about 6 months now.. stay together 3 days per week.. I am 32, she is 30. I have lived in bkk for 4 yrs.

She sells websites, which isn't such stable work for her..

    Pros:

    Stunning Beauty

    Jai dee

Very Honest as far as I know

    I believe she loves me

    Very affectionate

Helps out with $ for food /entertainment all the time

    Great sex

    Cons:

Her unreal Temper that even she admits is over the top

Finds something to fight about every 3 weeks or so, which turns into her spewing sometimes vulgar/ abusive language towards me, which can last up to 5-12 hrs at a time! ( i do the opposite of this )

Super jealous of any female friends i have.. even thought i say we can all hang out and try to do this together.

super suspicious of all my actions, not to mention any friends SHE may still have.. ( she doesn't have many, admitting she isn't very friendly)

very arrogant, thinking she is always right.

Just tonight she said she felt bad about a problem at work, called me and wanted to meet after we talked, but i was feeling a little sick & said the next day is better. This apparently was not good enough for her.. which stated another argument.. :o

And over the past month SHE asked to marry! She seems to have a real urgecy about this.. Basically, "marry or split." She has also said a while ago that her parents will go back to Isan soon, & she will need to find another place.. also saying how I should get a bigger apartment, etc..

This makes me question her true motives..... :D

    Her history:

had 2-3 farang BFs who split on her after 3-6 months.. one of which asked her to marry, then never called her after he went home.. other was a butterfly. So i can understand her feelings a bit.

    hmmm What's a guy to do ?

  14. Just got turned down for applying for a tourist visa to america for my thai GF....

Now wondering if it is possible to apply for a visa to america from another country like china....

In other words.. is it possible that she may get a visa from an american embassy in china, to go to america?

    Just an idea..

    steve

  15. My Thai GF has an interview at the embassy tomorrow...

just wondering if I should be accompanying her during the interview or lag back in the waiting area, being available if needed..

Do they want to talk to her alone at first? Maybe they do not want to talk with me..

    Hi,

lite beer's advice is correct, think about it, you are not the person applying for the visa so you have no part to play in the interview.

Having said that I think it is very important for you to be present on the day if only to give your g/f moral support.

You do not mention what type of visa she is applying for so it is difficut to predict the likley outcome of the interview,

    best of luck

    roy gsd
