In CM and I use Fixed deposit account (800,000) for retirement extension and always (5 years+)  obtain just the letter and updated passbook (no extra deposit required) the day before application.  Never been asked for a statement!

PS; never been asked for proof of living expenses etc via 2nd Pass book/bank account although I always have it available!

Nor I. I have extended 12 times and have never ever been asked to show a yearly statement just the passbook and letter both of which can be as old as 7 days. On a seperate note 2 wks. ago I went through the divethru window to do 90 day report the IO says to me can not do. Why I ask. He shows me my passport and tells me my 1 yr. extension expired in July! I forgot to renew! I forgot all about it! So mant thoughts racing thru my mind am I on over stay have I lost my retirement visa what am I to do? So I race to the bank for new letter telephone my wife to come to Imm. asap. She explains to IO outside my situation the IO goes inside to check comes back and tells us I am 41 days late on my extension! To my surprise she says don"t worry go to the information counter. I could not believe it, there and then I was given a 1 yr. extension with no penalties no fines and what was so amazing was that I gave them no paper work they asked for nothing no bank book or letter no forms no photos no map to house etc.! Wow!

  2. My neighbor 2 houses away has 4 dogs that continue to be aggressive to joggers, motorcyclists and bicycle riders. My wife was bitten on the foot while on motorbike yesterday and recently a young girl was knocked off her bicycle. They howl in the mornings and all through the night. I have purchased a dog whistle and want to but a slingshot but I am wary of unknown laws or regulations. What are my or any ones rights when dealing with this problem?

  3. I was issued the yellow book just yesterday and have been given a queue # and date ( next month ) to return to the Amphur for a pink I.D. card. Am I understanding correctly that once a person has the pink book that a person no longer needs Certificates of Residence to purchase cars bikes etc? Another question I have is should a person who has the book go the extra distance and have usufruct? What happens if the wife dies can one remain in the house indefinitely?

  4. I was at Imm. on the 2nd to change my 1yr. extension from retirement to marriage which went ok as I was given the 30 day under review stamp in passport which told me to return on the 24th which I did only to be told that my application was still under review as it was when I returned to Imm. yesterday the 30th! What can a person do? My 1yr. ext. expired yesterday and the under review stamp expired on the 24th am I on overstay? Does one need to return to Imm. day in and day out to find ones status?

  5. I did this process on the 2nd of july. Slightly different though in that I was not asked for the bank statement ( 1 yr. ) the bank letter was several days old and a computer generated map to the house was accepted and Imm. did not do a home visit but rather the witness, wife and I went to Imm. and was interviewed there. The application was accepted and I was given the 30 day under review stamp in passport that said report to Imm. on the 24th. When I went on the 24th I was told the application is still under review and the response was the same when I went yesterday the 30th. So here I am with no visa my 1yr. extension expired yesterday and the 30 day extension expired last week am I on over stay and does a person have to go to Imm. every day day in and day out to inquire as to status?

Did you have the LMG insurance begin on the date of expiration for last year's extension? Also, for 800k in the bank, did you have two bank statements, i.e., one, the standard verification of last balance, and two, the statement showing the past 12 months' activity? Particularly interested in this last one, as reports say you need to give your bank 7 days to obtain the information. I'm with Bangkok Bank, and the 7 days needed is what I've heard from them......

I changed my extension application from retirement to marriage and avoided health insurance. The IO did not ask to see the bank statement ( 6 mth- yr. ) only the bank letter which the officer said could be as old as 7 days. Also a computer generated map was accepted.

From your user name and other posts I assume that was in Chiang Mai?

Chiang mai it is. Over the years many posts on this site have reported that CM Imm does home visits not in my case. Also posts about having to need a bank statement ( 6 months- 1 yr. ) not I . Posts about a hand drawn map not I and posts saying how a person must have the bank letter dated on the day of application not I.

  8. Last week I applied for the 1 yr. ext. based on marriage that before was based on retirement ( OA ) and was accepted without having insurance nor was the bank statement needed ( 6month ) only the bank letter stating how much was in the acct. the IO told me this letter could be as old as 7 days. And a computer generated map was accepted. I was issued the 30 day under consideration stamp. A few days later Imm. called me to ask me to bring my wife and a witness to Imm. which I did the next day. By doing so a home visit is not necessary. My question is my 30 day stamp says to return to Imm. on the 24th I presume to be issued the 1 yr. ext. can I go in earlier than that date or wait until the 24th?

  9. I changed my extension from retirement to marriage and was given the 30 day under consideration last week. A few days later I was surprised to receive a phone call from Imm. asking me to bring my wife and a witness to Imm. which I did the next day. By doing so I was informed that a home visit was not necessary. Has this happened to others because I was under the impression that CM. Imm made home visits? While there Imm. took pictures of us at their desk as well as in the hallway in front of the large Imm. poster. My 30 day under consideration says I must report to Imm. on the 24th can I go sooner than this date or wait until the 24th?

  10. I recommend using an agent which I did. The Affidavit of Marriage is valid for only 30 days meaning one has to have this translated, submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and be married before 30 days or one must start the process all over again. All Amphurs are different. Here in CM many Amphurs have waiting lists ( queue ) some up to 6 wks while some require the 2 witnesses to be from that Amphur. Using an agent eliminates all red tape. For a fee of B4500 the agent drove me to and from the Amphur and supplied the 2 witnesses the process took 2 hrs. The Amphur offices are not set up for falang all signs, paperwork and language is in Thai.

  11. Several years ago a fellow posted that he was in the process of trying to grow fresh berries such as blueberries and raspberries in the Samoeng area. Anyone have recent info?
