2 tickets for speeding at radar control (500b) and once stopped for the same reasons (400 b and a coke offered).

    120 km/h is a good speed on 4-lane highways

    Yes!

3 delivered in mail from cameras and two roadside. All 500baht per fine.

May least it’s not Australia, I’d be broke and no licence by now.

Agreed, speed shld be 120 on large wide motor ways.

Even 80 on the two lane highway is stupid slow. Shld be 110.

Speed isn’t the root cause, and reducing speed is just a band aid solution, as Australia is now realising. Their massive campaign has failed. What it has achieved tho is Billions in revenue.

Educate drivers. Police the ones that are useless and dangerous. Like someone else mentioned, <deleted> is with these uturns on a major highway? Stupid and dangerous.

Drunk driving/riding and no helmets, that’s ur biggest killer. Start there.

  2. I think u answered your own question. Stay offline. Lots of stress to be had here. Some people live for it.

Kudos to u tho u healthy old Bstd.!!

im only 48 and I’m stressed out with worry of illness etc. Mind u I’m healthy as an ox apart from a bad back. Oh, are oxen healthy!? Or strong? Haha. Anyway I get it what u are saying.

Live on like any day cld be your last. That’s how do.

Exactly, and can be recalled at any time without reason.

Thais should send him back to prison to serve the rest of his sentence, by the time he gets out again he certainly would not even wish to come back.

Shld go back in, and never come back out.

    This story is ludicrous.

I guess  his wife wasn’t thai, so they didn’t consider the crime so bad. ?

just weird this fked up world.

You should look up the definition of "abuse", of course they are not abusing the system, because they aren't doing anything bad to Thailand.

Immigration police has to listen to what the department of employment says, they say it's not work, so immigration has to follow this

If working online were illegal while on a tourist visa, how do you explain the news where people were seen working online by immigration police, but they just let them go? How do you explain that immigration police isn't raiding co working spaces, where it would be very easy to find lots of people working online on tourist visas?

If you still believe working online on a tourist visa is illegal: Report a co working space of your choice to immigration police and see what the outcome is.

    I totally agree 100%!

There sure are some clowns on this forum.

The whole point of work permits/visa is to keep foreigners in line with thai laws, re. not taking jobs away from Thais in certain fields, something some of these posters here are a bit confused about.

Working online for a business, or your own business back in your home country, HAS ZERO to do with Thai work permits and tourist visas.

Similarily, there is a BiG difference between paid employment, and gardening/mowing the lawn on your own 3rai of land. Other posters here believe u can't be a tourist AND mow your own lawn. (Maybe I need a work permit, haha).

Amazing how many fuddy duddies on this forum hey.

  5. Hi. I can totally relate, after going thru this rubbish myself a few days ago.

Just so u know, BKK airport is NO DIFFERENT.

they're pulling the same BS as DM

all this could be avoided if Immigration made the rules more transparent, or as another poster mentioned, the consulate not GRANTING the Visa in the first place. They have all the info they need to make an educated decision, and it would be far easier and less stress this way. But the real issue is, IMMIGRATION making up rules. They shld get their asses kicked, power trippin.

Other posters here mention that u were doing the wrong thing, do not listen to their rubbish. If it's an IO discretionary rule, then that's not actually a rule for which u are breaking.

If they suspect u may be working or doing some other activity on Thailand which is forbidden, then they shld have REAL proof of this, rather than making some judgment call.

Anyway, if your visa hasn't been stamped, then u can still use it, via a safer border crossing.

They may may be confused as to why u were refused entry previously, which is exactly what happened to me. They kept asking me what happened at BKK. I SAID I don't know. They seemed really bewildered. I had my thai partner on the ph and she cld hear them talking in thai.

It only seems like a select few locations where they do this.

Really make sure u have ACTUAL CASH 20k BHT on hand and all the other stuff needed to get the visa.

I was hoping I cld just show my ph banking app with acc balance, but they insisted I get cash. Highly annoyed at that point cos the nearest ATM was 30min away, and then had to exchange usd for tbht. Really painful.

No consistency. For visa application at Vietnam, I had CASH, but they wanted print out of bank statement. Ludicrous.

Chin up, many people on this forum will blame u for the difficulty, just know, this is the systems fault, not yours.

    Good luck.

  7. Hi.

I'm considering Vietnam for my next setv in a couple weeks.

I have previously used Vientiane Laos a few times without issue, and also without proof of $$ or thai exit flights.

Are they likely to want to see thai exit plane ticket for setv at Vietnam?

are the main options there, Hanoi and HCMC?

    Thanks.

You can if you have a tourist visa to use for entry.

Sorry, but I'm having difficulty understanding.

If if I have a tr visa to enter neighbouring country?

what I'm asking is, if after I get another 30 day extension here at hua hin, so total 90 days here,   I travel over land border, maybe into Burma, is it possible to apply/gain a 60 day tr visa for Thai? After I've already had total 3 back to back tr visa, all by air?

Sorry for not quite getting what u said.

  10. Well I got the visa no drama, BUT, at Suvarnabhumi immigration, man they were brutal!!!! WTHell!

They wete just shooting us down like ducks.

Whats the point of going thru 5-6hrs of line ups and application process, get approval, then arrive at the airport for some CLOWN/CLOWNS, sitting at a counter telling u that there's a problem!!!?? Freaking arse holes

I first came here on TR visa plus 30 day extension from Australia, then to Laos for another tr visa plus 30 day extension, and now this latest Laos visa run. Is this gonna be a problem on my next run? Shld I look at doing an alternative run?

Me at counter, friendly, smiling. Proper greeting, guy at counter, reading passport, where's ur return ticket?? Me, sorry? Why do I need a return ticket? I just got here, I got at least 60days before I got to leave. Man at counter, NO, u Wait there. New guy takes me away with another few chaps.

New man at counter, why u here in MY country?? Like wot the #%%, I felt like asking him if he owned all if thailand. But no I smiled and said, visiting my gf. Reading passport more, I know why u here, u wanna stay here long time, u like my country, blah blah blah.

I'm like yeh dude I do love ur country, I also love my girlfriend, and if u like I can call her so u can clarify what I said,  pretty sure she won't be very happy with u dude. Lol.

Ok, stand over there, ( in front of camera). Ok u can go.

Was this just just a scare tactic? I am pretty careful with my appearance and I've never been hassled before.

You pay the fee when you pickup your passport at 1:30 pm the next day after applying.

Vientiane has been doing it that for some time now.

Man they'd save themselves a lot of time and headache just to communicate this stuff hey.

Same with the photocopy of passport, they also want copy of Laos visa in passport, but it don't say that on app form! Crazy, just little deets that cld make a huge difference.

Same as the application form, crazy they don't have updated one on website to dl, fill out and be super organised before arriving.

Its like they thrive on kaos!

    Laos-Kaos!!!  :partytime2:

  12. Hey team. The line up at consular was pretty hectic yesterday, especially as Tuesday was a holiday.

Anyway, after finally submitting my app and gaining the elusive ticket/number, we noticed that our number cluster was being missed. After waiting some time we queried this, and the good lady there informed us to come back tomorrow to pay.

My question is, did she mean after 1pm at visa collection time or in the morning? I'm worried now if I don't pay this morning, it may not get processed today?

i think they decided yesterday to only push thru certain types for payment as it was very busy and only one woman there processing the payments. They did this around the 1215 mark.
