  1. I use yahoo messenger a lot to chat with family and friends. Over the last 2 months when I attempt to go to a chatroom a message comes up with captcha in it. I am told to click on that and it wont open the security box with the code in that it says it will. I cannot therefore get past ths message and into the chatrooms.

Can anyone help? Maybe my settings are wrong? Has access to yahoo chatrooms in Thailand been banned?

Please help...I cannot get into yahoo chatroom ( messenger) - when I click on the captcha link which it says to do the next window does not open. It will not move from the captcha window.

  3. Needed to start on the 1st November, 2007 a full time music teacher at a leading and well respected international school in Bangkok. An ability to speak good English is essential as the language of instruction is English. The ideal candidate should be comfortable teaching students that are mainly aged 5 - 11 but versatile enough to teach older children as well. Applications from Thai, Filipino or other Asian qualified teachers that speak English are very welcome.

  4. I have visited several banks today about a loan for the condo and was told that foreigners cannot get a loan for a condo/apartment or house here....is this true ? I also asked at the condo showrooms and was told the maximum loan i can get is 60% of the price of the condo on a loan and the loan will go through a singapore or hong kong bank. Are there ways to get a loan in Bkk for 90-95% of the cost of the apartment and just put a smaller amount of cash down ?

  5. I want to buy a condo ideally close ( walking distance ) to MRT ( or BTS as a second choice ) that is new and ready now or ideally in the next 7 months. Any suggestions where in Bangkok such a property is available ? I work in Ladprao and want easy access to the MRT. I hope to get a big loan ( 90-95 % ) from a bank here - is that possible ? I am a farang with a work permit - currently two year contract. I want a condo at least 70 sq m and a 1 or 2 bedroom is ideal. Any help appreciated .....

  6. St John's International School is an excellent school NOW...contrary to earlier thread. It HAS accreditation from WES and is a member of ISAT. I recommend it as a good school and would suggest you view the school and make your mind up.The students are a lovely group and the teachers excellent. I am a parent too and can uput u in touch with independent parents to check about this school. Call me on 0895222701.

Hi John, I hate to seem so negative, but to be honest, I've never heard of WES and basically every other school worth considering is also a member of ISAT. I'm more concerned with accreditation from the Council of International Schools, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges or the International Baccalaureate Organization. Will still keep you in mind though...

Drew - WES - LOOK AT www.wes.org and please note that my school Saint John's International School IS a member of COIS / CIS ( Council of International Schools ) - it is very likely that we will be accredited in the next few years. We passed the preliminary inspection with flying colours. Come and have a look !!.....You will not beat our fees for this quality of school and with the 10% discount you will get a good deal.

    Look at www.international.stjohn.ac.th .

  8. St John's International School has both UK high school and a N.American high school. The fees are resonable. It is situated in Ladprao, Bangkok close to Prahon Yothin MRT station and accessible via expressways. You can call the headmaster on 0895222701.

  9. Can anyone help? We are living in Bangkok, we own a mobile + landline here. We use the landline to phone a mobile phone ( family ) in the Netherlands and are running up some very costly monthly bills. We need to cut these down. We tried ussing the 008 number in front of the number as we were told this would bring the cost down but this seems to result in getting a poor line and we cannot be heard on the line or it simply will not even dial. If you were phoning the Netherlands ( CITY IN HOLLAND ) dialing a mobile number there is there any way to get our charges reduced ?

    Thank you

  10. I have no idea if this is the right forum for this but.........

I hear Andrea Bocelli is singing in Ayutthaya later in the year - anyone know how I can get tickets ? I do not think TICKETMASTER know anything about this !....any info would be useful...

  11. Dear All...I have bought a car and cannot find answers easily on here to these questions :-

I have a work permit for 3years , I am a Brit and been here for 1 year. I need car insurance for my used car - can this be done online ? I speak/read no Thai. If online is not an option where do I arrange car insurance ? What documents do I need to get this car insurance if any ?

I have an international driving licence that expires in August. I need to be able to drive in Thailand - do I need a Thai or international licence ? What documents do I need to get the best option of these ? Where do I go to get licence ?

    Thanks

  12. The 6 x CD player was an optional extra on all E46 models in UK. if its not sitting in the boot on the left hand side then it does not have one.

The service indicator on the control panel will show "OIL" for an oil only service and "Inspection 1" or "Inspection 2" service. always follow the required service plan for BMW as the service history is integral to its residual value. Inspection 2 service is the most expensive, but as labour is cheap here dont expect any big shock.

I would be interested to know which motor this car is running. the M52 2.5 liter unit was used for European based 323 E46 units up to year 2000. Then the 323 badge was dropped and 325 took over, an uprated engine was fitted, the M54. This had about 10% more power and torque and better fuel economy.....A much better option. I owned both of these models in the UK at different times.

I know of a 2004 model listed and 1.525 million so your price seems good but proceed with caution, as always.

THe main thing to check with these cars is electrical accessories. They were blighted by failures of things like temperature guages and fan speed controls. This is not a widely known fact becuase BMW quietly replaced all failures free of charge. I had several issues and was always surprised by my local dealers willingness to replace stuff free with little fuss. Even on vehicles that were three years old or more!

Thanks Thaipwriter....it is listed as a 2300 cc engine but I think that it is just under a 2.4 l engine...does that sound right ? Iwill see the car again today and check the electric gauges and fan speed etc.,. It is definately the 323 i and not the 325 model which is why I asked if the 323 i could be a 2004 car. ( this one is advertised as a 2004 323 i model ) I drove a 1999 323 i BMW in UK and loved it. In my rush to move here I had to give it away price wise. I test drove this car last week in Bangkok and it drove well....it looks genuine.

  13. I have been offered a BMW 323 i , 2004 , silver, 16,000 kms i good condition for 1.425 million baht.

I really want a 3 series BMW....Can those of you that know more about the car market in Thailand than me tell me :-

    1) I am curious - the 323 i BMW was sold in 2004 in Thailand ? On one Thai website it only shows these for sale up until 2003. Was this model sold here in 2004 ? The seller is sure this was a 2004 car.

    2) Does the price seem right ? Does it sound like a good deal ?

    3) Is there anything obvious to look for ?

    4) Was this model sold here with the CD multichanger as standard ? - I cannot see one in this car.

    Thank you.

Thank you Terdsak....you are always there with amazingly speedy advice !! Do you know if it should have a multi- changer CD ? The prices of 2003 323 i are all 1.5 million + baht in the car tents which made me suspicious. At 1.425 million ( it has the balance of the 5 yr BMW warranty left ) it seems a very good price to me.

It is showing on the dash as needing an oil change in 2000 kms time - should I get a full service or just an oil / quick service ?
