  1. The 650 B Covid19 insurance mentioned by ubonjoe has a 14 days waiting period (or negative PCR 72hrs prior).

The only cheap insurance with no waiting period i have been able to find (i just returned from Europe) was from MSIG called Personal TA Inbound Mini for 660Baht.

    Worked fine for Thailand Pass.

The international vaccination certificate from MorProm works fine too.

Thailand Pass got approved in 2 hours after submitting application.

Landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, there is a counter where they check your ThailandPass papers and give you a sticker, that's all.

  2. A friend of mine has recently been in the same situation,he needed a very simple phone for limited purposes.
He got himself a new Oppo A57 from Lazada, about 1500Baht.
The phone does everything that is required, all Apps are working, 2 SIM slots AND a memory card slot.
Mind you, that model is already a few years old, so you won't get any OS updates anymore, but works fine, fast GPS, good battery life and fast response.

For something a bit modern and still budget-orientated, check Lazada (or any other store) for a Xiaomi Redmi 9.
Its various models start around 3000Baht.

I very much second the recommendation of not buying a second hand phone, prices are too high, quality is dubious.
  3. Just been there in January.
The office was almost empty, the whole process took 20 minutes.
Funny enough, the digital fingerprint scanner is not used anymore, they took fingerprints the old fashioned way, so bring some wet wipes with you.
As mentioned already, you need a letter of request stating the purpose of the police certificate from your employer.
They seem to require a letter of confirmation of residency too.
There is an extra fee of 50 Baht for the EMS postal service, they will provide an envelope on which you can write your adress on.
  4. I used to own its predecessor, which was advertised with almost the same pictures.
Android was supposed to be version 9, was in fact 4.4
Memory was advertised as 128Gb, was in fact 12GB
Screen resolution was advertised as full HD, was in fact very low.
The tablet was running a non-erasable background software preinstalled by its manufacturer which altered the results of most of the common benchmarking tools.
For a normal User everything would seem fine according to its advertised specs....
And as a bonus it also had a Virus/Spyware preinstalled, which was continuously running in the background (cloaked with the name of a popular App) stealing information and sending it to who-knows-where.
I managed to root it and clean it, now it functions as a videoplayer for the village kids.

  5. Greetings.
I would like to ask the experts the following question:
Can a Non-I visa issued in Isan be transferred to a new passport anywhere, i.e. in another province?
The person in question has just received his new passport while visiting Chiang Mai and now would like to transfer his visa at Chiang Mai Immigration.
If possible, which documents/requirements (apart from the embassy-visa-transfer-letter) would be necessary?
    Thank you everybody!

  8. Yes, Hua Nam Dang camping ground is perched high up on a cliff,
in the morning the surrounding forest is often immersed in a lovely blanket of mist/fog.
Nights in the cold season usually are cristal clear.
For those with a pickup truck, a motorcycle or good walking boots:
there starts a long track along the mountain ridge all the way to Wiang Haeng, very scenic.

  10. Not open on Saturday/Sunday and public holidays, just like any other government office.
Be aware, actual lunchbreak is 11:30 until 13:00!
There is also no copyshop in the immediate vicinity, so do bring copies of everything with you.
There is an informal queueing system made out of handwritten numbers on a paper spike in place.
In case you are not able to pick up the finished passport by yourself, the collector needs to bring either your passport or a power of attorney (in Thai, filled out by you) with him.
It does sound a bit over the top, but these were the demands made by the officer during my visit.
The fee of 50Baht is collected on the day of passport retrieval.

  11. Good afternoon,

some information just found on the website of the provincial health authority:

"Those who have registered for their FIRST vaccination on Gambaeng Wiang between 04.10.2564 and 07.10.2564 should recheck their claim.

In case you do NOT find your information, please contact provincial health authority at 0841045751"

  13. We are using 1 pair of the Yuasa ones in an array of 3 pairs,
they are working fine for the last 4 years in a small offgrid system.
4x330W panels, 3x2x130Ah in 24V configuration batteries are powering 2 houses with lights, 1 fridge, etc, no Aircon though.
The batteries are of course in constant need of refilling.

Our second system, built 2 years ago, is using DeepGel batteries sold by ENGINEO in Chiang Mai, with 120Ah they are almost the same price as the Yuasa ones and maintenance-free.
According to ENGINEO they are the first Thai-produced Gel batteries...
Seems to be running fine too.

  14. Thank you both very much for the quick replies!
    @UbonJoe:
    infomation-service-4.pdf mentions to bring:
Document(s) certify that the applicant is working, used to work, or
    residing in Thailand.
As i do not work, it therefore should be a residence certificate?
Where would one get such a thing?

That out-source agent says on her website:
6.The original fingerprint 2 set (Taken by The Thai police PCC at Bangkok by our contact only because in case of you stay in Thailand now you need to take fingerprint by Thai police PCC in Bangkok only ,they will not accept the fingerprint from the local police in Thailand.
So it seems that one has to go to Bangkok anyhow, the only advantage that agent has is speed in delivery.
She does not give any quote on her fee on her website either. I might give her a call...

  15. Good day everybody;
Would anybody have a current report on:
How to obtain a Police Clearance Letter for foreign nationals in Bangkok?
    After living in Thailand as a guest for many years, i am thinking of visiting a western country for a longer period;
to obtain a visa for that country a Police Clearance Letter is required.
The website psccenter.sb.police.go.th is unfortunately a bit confusing.
    Which documents exactly are required?
There is a fee of 100 Baht, is there an additional fee for postal services?
    Thank you very much!
