  1. On 11/8/2019 at 2:26 PM, DeeMoney said:

The transfer delays that have been resolved was effective as of 4th of October. Transfers made in September were subject to delays. However, transfers made after 4th of October encounter no delay issues.

As of November, all refunds have been given.

Transfers now take an average of 3-5 days, a great percentage of which less than 2 days and we are constantly working on increasing this speed and adding more countries to the list - coming soon within this month.

I would say "what a load of rubbish!". I read many bad reviews but decided to give DeeMoney a try based on their responses and assurances. No improvements. They treat your money as a free, short term loan and do with it as they please for as long as they like. If the currency you are transferring to is worth more that the original currency they may offer you a refund instead of an agreed payout in the end. That is if you are lucky! Very unreliable and risky service! In my case I was waiting two weeks and I doubted that I ever see my money again. I have been told lots of lies in a meantime. If they treat the business and their customers this way, I guess they do not care any more and may be facing a bankruptcy. I would suggest not to send any money that you are not prepared to lose. I received my transfer after 2 weeks but I will never use DeeMoney again as it was definitely not worth the risk and my anxiety.

  2. WARNING: Do not send any money through this company as you may never see it again! It is just not true that they had some "issues" with their partners and that the delays have been resolved. They assured me the transfer would take 3-5 business days but after waiting almost two weeks my money is still "In processing". I am very worried that they may decide to never pay it at all. When companies start to behave like this it is mostly because they intend to go bankrupt. Dealing with DeeMoney is absolutely not worth the risk and heartache of not knowing what is going on!

  3. They should actually make an example of this guy in China for more to follow and visit Thailand (but of course they will not).

As it is, most of Chinese play too little, spend too little, work too hard, stress themselves far too much over money grab. As such they are stuffing up the rest of the world, both in human terms and the environment.

    Well done Comrade! Viva Pierestrojka!

  4. I don't know if they are going to rule that all 4.6 sq km is to go to Cambodia but the only just ruling I can envision is that enough land surrounding the temple must belong to Cambodia to enable proper administering and functioning of the temple, including adequate access.

It's a real shame Thailand is making so much fuss about such a small area and even is threatening Cambodia with 100 year war! Don't these people learn history and how many times their cities were burned down by invasions from outside? War is not a toy-word and the general who issued such threat should be made to resign. But of course this is not going to happen here that just demonstrates Thai altitudes and readiness for ASEAN 2015, sorry 2016 .. or "maybe hopefully never".

  5. Should be a coin not a note......ridiculous

Absolutely agree! Was thinking that as well. What's the point of making a new note worth 70 cents at the time of a creeping inflation?

And who on earth would want to counterfeit 20 THB note if counterfeiting 1,000 THB requires the same amount of work but would bring 50 x more profit?

< Overly derogatory comments removed >!

  6. How about "living well in Thailand from gambling?". Day trading is not work. It is speculation. Your gain is someone else's loss. Bad karma. You live well from helping other people not from praying on them.

although i abhor daytrading (except in rare cases) your opinion "preying on other people" is as ignorant as can be. no offence meant!

Oh really? What's so ignorant about it? Go ahead, make my day and explain your point instead of just throwing flames around. Where do you think the money day traders make come from??? If they do of course.

  7. How about "living well in Thailand from gambling?". Day trading is not work. It is speculation. Your gain is someone else's loss. Bad karma. You live well from helping other people not from praying on them.

I am not a day trader but I don't agree with your statement. If you play the game you take your chances willingly - nothing personal and you don't have to pry the money out of his hands. It's civilized and done through brokerages. That's almost like saying if you took someones job because they got fired you would get bad karma??? whistling.gif

There are winners and losers in real estate transactions, employment, divorces, relationships - that's life.

You are entitled to have a different opinion gerry 53 and I'm glad that you are not a day trader. I'm sure lot's of other people on this thread wouldn't agree with me either. They are all entangled in a very "civilized" but unsustainable culture of gambling and cherishing money as King. Most of bankers are in it. Most politicians are. That is this culture that brought the world to the place it is in now and nothing indicates that it's going to get any better as the populations and expectations are ever rising and the natural resources are drying up.

I don't see any relevance in your comparison with replacing somebody who lost a job. Day-trading is the same as gambling and hence not work. It doesn't create anything useful. I know that people gamble willingly but they only do so out of greed. And greed is NOT good. It's very primitive and egotistic. It's like a disease and it's pushing human civilization towards extinction. Life doesn't have to be like a game of "winners and losers" and I am sure it is not for many who may agree with me.

  8. Thailand has a beautiful corruption and is one of the major corruption
countries in Southeast Asia. The country is corruption-oriented and has a
good corruption and principles of good corruption.

These should be the selling points of Thailand. I would also throw in beautiful xenophobia as this will greatly impact on its ability to be the Hub of ASEAN.

  9. The problem is that in most cases the poor travellers have absolutely no choice. I though I was going to avoid speeding, cramped vans but recently came across two scary trips in them.

I boght a ferry/bus ticket from Koh Samui to Suratthani at Seatran jetty. When I arrived at Don Sak after the ferry trip I was confronted with a van instead of the bus. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that was the last ferry of the day, departing 6pm from Samui. There were two vans that looked full with another dozen of people trying to get a seat. I guess they had no tickets as when I produced mine they shown me my place in the van: between the driver and front passanger, kind of on the engine cover. There was no seatbelt for it! But it was late and this was all on offer short of walking to Suratthani that evening. I mildly objected pointing that to the driver and saying I didn't want to seat there but he only responded with ugg .. uggg .. and a total bemusement on his face. The next door passenger who saw me showing there was no seat belt asked me if I was afraid to die. He turned out to be a lawyer but obviously didn't see anything wrong with the van taking passengers at the front seat with no seat belt. Luckily the driver was slow (in every way) and apart from having my bum almost burned we arrived safely at Suratthini 1 hour later.

After landing at Suratthani airport on the way back I approached Panthip Travel desk and bought myself a bus/ferry ticket to Samui for 350 THB. I was than lead to the awaiting mini van. I awkwardly tried to protest asking for the bus but they didn't understand what I was on about. At least this time the van was almost empty and I could seat myself inside like a human being. A few travelers joined later and we promptly took off. Right after the airport gate our prompt departure changed into a full blown car racing with the van doing 130-150 km/h and overtaking all other vehicles on the road. If they happen to be in front of him the driver didn't hesitate to honk so they clear his race-track. It was pure madness and I bet all the other bumping around fellow travellers were thinking exactly what I was thinking: are we going to survive this? but nobody dared to oepn their mouth and ask the driver to slow down. I would ahve done that as I'm not shy but: 1) I remembered the speeding bus from Bangkok that crashed and burned about a year ago approaching Suratthani after reportedly some passengers asked the driver to slow down 2) the driver could not necessary speak English or pretend he didn't 3) by asking him I could have stepped on his foot that could in fact result in him increasing his speed to show how little he cared about his all farang passengers. So, we all sat terrified and I was thinking how easy it is to get ourselves into silly situations like this, without any intent to be in it or way out of it. We arrived 30 minutes before the Don Sak ferry departure time, so there was absolutely no need for this race.

I know it's a long post but in light of the OP I think we should all revalue our approach to these kind of situations and be stronger fighting unscrupulous transportation practices, at least by reporting these cases to each other here.

  10. I just wonder:

    1) How did the relatives managed to "alert" the police?
My experience is that police at Samui don't even answer phone calls and do everything possible to avoid taking down a rapport after a crime was committed. Does it mean there were some changes in the police work practices recently or that some other mysterious forces were at play?

    2) How do the police know so quickly that Russian suspects involved in retaining other Russians were a "Russian mafia gang" and not some individuals who had a business dispute that went wrong for instance?

    3) When will police start focusing on Thai mafia mob and their activities in Samui? Or is it that "Russian mafia mob" sounds better in the headlines?

  11. beaches - best on Samui

crowds - backpackers on Lanta & Chang n yuppies on Samui (tourists)

accomodations - greatest range on Samui, cheapest on Lanta

amenities - greatest range on Samui

transportation - no airport on Lanta or Chang but the ferry ride to Chang is short and there is one on the mainland

internet - no experience outside of Samui

Chang is the most spectacular of these islands and interesting to explore. Lanta is very peacefull and has a charming old muslim township. Samui is .. as you know .. tourist and mafia ridden but still the numero uno for the balance of everything for me. Intrestingly, with so many people aparently wishing to stay in secluded and tranquil places, I wonder why they all flock to busy spots on Samui and not to the South or West that still are, almost, like 20 years ago. Even the perfectly swimming beach like Lipa Noi is empty.

  12. It is not an easy thing to get 'sucked' into a propeller.. the prop is pushing water away from it in a forward gear. You could be sucked in from the back of the boat only if it was reversing, in which case the driver should have been looking aft to see where he was going.

    Very strange.

Exactly! I really don't understand how brainwashed some people on this forum are to straight away believe the reports of Thai media based on version of events told by the person whose vessel killed her. We haven't heard the other side of this story because dead people don't talk! But the Polish media is plainly reporting this incident as "she was struck by a motor boat". Nothing about swimming close or even under the boat while a good skipper was lowering his gear that resulted in her "being sucked into a propeller". Hey, nobody wants to die and I'm sure she was not an idiot and wouldn't swim near the propeller of the departing boat. Her only fault was that she came here believing glossy brochures and all the hype about Pattaya -being an "international resort". RIP.

  13. "Two of the attackers were caught and held overnight, but have been released, he added."

    Why?

Why? Because one doesn't get arrested for "boxing" in Thailand. Assault is a farang concept. One can punch anybody else, then, make some lies at the police station that the violence was both ways and all what they do is to ask both parties to pay 1,000 THB. So, maybe the Russians knew that before, didn't like the business people for some reason and decided to teach them a lesson.

  14. You have just shown with your comments how little you know. Your massive generalisations hold no water. I presume you have been here for less than a year.

Hear, hear .. we should know how to keep our heads down, it's not our country, we should show more respect, we should not argue with a Thai cos they could just kick us like a dog or shoot us dead anytime they feel like .. cos they know we are faranag and have no xxxxxxx rights here, every cop will try to cover up for fellow Thai .. so let's be quiet, learn the ropes and digest more shit or go back to "our country"

Just because you disagree with someone doesn't mean that you have to flame them. Why is it that my "massive generalisations hold no water"? If you think differently perhaps try to substantiate instead of offering empty talk. And your presumption is also completely wrong. I've been visiting here since 1981, living and doing business in Thailand for 7 years. I've been thorough a lot here including assaults, many counts of theft, court cases, extortion, betrayals, life threats .. all things that didn't happened to me in my "previous life" of 24 years in another "adopted country". I'm claiming here that Thai xenophobia and a system under which foreigners have little rights contribute towards many instances of violence against them. It makes it just too easy to pull a knife or gun on a foreigner. It results in tragic cases like the one above and it often goes unpunished. And we, foreigners, are partly to blame by mostly sticking head in the sand and accepting this situation in the name of politically correct "respect for other culture". If the African Americans thought and behaved like that they would still be doing cotton fields today including Mr. Obama. "As long as I'm still alive I don't care for some young Brit. It was probably his own fault he got shot dead". But Sir, it may be YOU next time.

Nice to see you read the latest news and updates before putting forward silly and insensitive comments. The news reports indicate he was hit by a stray bullet fired during a dispute between rival Thai gangs. And, you think "it was probably his own fault he got shot dead". Well done Sherlock!

Nice to see you noticed the "" signs in my post indicating it was not what I was thinking but what someone else might thought or is often likely to think in cases like this. The meaning of my post is clearly against such altitude. And nice to see you are also one of the people here thinking hard before starting to flame others.

As to the story about "cross-fire between local gangs" I don't believe a word of it. Where are the wounded or killed members of these gangs? What evidence of "cross-fire" do the police have to asses that course of the events? What "local gangs" are known to police to operate on KPG and why are they closing this case so quickly now instead of investigating these gangs and their use of guns to prevent more deaths in future? It smells to me like a cover up BS story for the media and the tourists. BBC bought it because in their ideal, "politically correct" world the statements made by police are the result of detailed investigation and are likely to be correct. From my experience in Samui and KPG it is likely to be the opposite.

  15. He also said, "don't cut down big trees, don't poop on the sidewalk, and don't run over animals with your car." (I jest)

Hahaha .. is that true? I don't think he could have said that as he knows North Koreans don't have private cars. There may not be any animals left to run over (eat) either. Or big trees to cut down. Maybe there is little poop left as well? Oh, I think you got me here ;-)

But anyway, I applause Great Leader's new visionary ideas and a trendy, punk-ish hairdo. Are they all going to look like that soon?
