  1. Hello Its me again, I would like to ask you kind sirs if nongkhai border immigration asks for proof of funds if getting a Visa Exempt? My current Setv will expire at the end of December after the 1 month extension that I will be getting. I just want to be prepared before I do a border run.My school will be processing my education visa by mid february and they adviced me to get n setv first due to the new law that students can only get 1 education visa per year. Hope to hear from you soon and thank you.

  2. The new rule at Vientiane is that you can only apply for one non-ed visa per calendar year.
You could possibley get another non-ed visa at another embassy or consulate.
You could get a tourist visa in Vientiane without a problem unless you have gotten 3 or more of them in the past.
You could start your new course of study with a tourist visa entry. You do not have to have a non-ed visa to attend school.
I had tourist visas from vientianne in the past before i got my education visa. Should I be worried?

  3. Hi guys

My 8 months education visa is expiring on the 31st of October same time as my language course expires too. I signed up to further my studies for another 6 months so my school applied for the letter from the Ministry of Education. Unfortunately, one of my classmates at my school got denied at Vientianne Embassy and they told her that she can only do one course per year. My school advised my to wait until early 2019 to apply for a new education visa. My question is, Will there be any problems if I apply for a tourist visa in Vientianne while waiting for my new course in early 2019? I already paid my tuition. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks

  4. Immigration will not pay any attention to the stamp on your visa when you depart and re-enter the country.
Remember that you can only do 2 visa exempt entries per calendar year at at land border crossing (resets at midnight on the 31st of this month).
Hi Ubonjoe, I did 2 visa exempt in 2017. So do I still get 2 exempts for 2018?

  5. When's the last time you returned to your country of origin? 4 seems steep but there's not much consistency in how immigration policy is enforced here.

Hi, I never left Thailand. Just Laos for my visa. I've been travelling around Thailand a lot. Met a lot of good friends here. I don't work. I got money coming in from my investments abroad.

  6. Hi guys,

I'm doing my 5th setv 3rd week of this month in vientianne. Any of you guys got questioned after the 4th one?

    These are my setvs.

    1st-savanaket

    2nd-savanaket

    3rd-savanaket

    4th- vientiane

I would gladly appreciate any info. Also the rules in vientianne still the same about not asking for bank statement or show money 20k and outbound plane ticket?

    Thanks

  7. As far as I know the MFA has no database of visas issued so I would say no.
I would not say that it would be possible to do it at Vientiane and Savannakhet though since they are both in Laos and the consulate in Savannakhet is under the embassy in Vientiane.
At other locationd it would not be a problem.

Where would be the best embassy to go to for an setv besides savanakhet and vientianne? More farang friendly?

  8. Hi guys

What are the requirements for a 30 day extension? My setv 60 day will expire next week and i plan to extend it for another month. I live in bangkok but will be travelling to nakhon pathom on that day to attend a wedding. Can i extend my visa in nakhon pathom immigration even though I live in bangkok?

Thanks. Hoping to get a detailed response [emoji3]
