    or from other brands

living in chiang rai and thinking to buy one

i hope you please can help me because there are so many brand and types

  2. Jag, I have a house, or rather my wife and I have one, there also. Don't think I know you though!!

My wife told me six (hoch) youngsters were killed, and the driver was 14 yo. She also said it happened in front of the temple.

Really very very sad, so many family, friends, schoolmates, neighbors, even the folks in Huay Kean all affected by this accident as well as the kids themselves. Vehicles do drive very fast in that area, my wife tells me of local folks run over while crossing the road there in the past. Maybe speed bumps would help.

as you all know thailand when something happened there are lots of storys

i've tried to find out what really happened

there was 9 you ppl in the car

    from 17 up

the driver and his girlfriend saved there lives by using car belts

4 ppl died on the spot

2 stil in hospital serious injured

    1 i dont know

they all where drunk after a party for a new house

  3. Good reply,kongjianghai

    maneesjansuk

thai to english ( no have )

  4. On a side note, I have a very good friend who is Iranian, and Jewish.

We had many long discussions about the observance of kosher, which is in many ways similar to the Muslim halal.

The thing I learned, was that this is not just some senseless antiquated religio-mystico belief.

The 2 religions believe that if you are going to slaughter animals, and consume their meat, not only should certain sanitary standards be met, but that there should be some (minimal) observance in a spiritual sense...hence the certification of the slaughterhouse by some priest, or rabbi, or mullah.

It's really not so different from the simple ritual that native Americans did when they killed an animal such as the buffalo.

They prayed to its spirit, they thanked the gods for their luck in the hunt...and then they joyfully consumed the delicious barbecued meat!

For the record, I'm a one time vegetarian, who had a most excellent rib eye tonight, accompanied by a toothsome South African Shiraz. :o

    dont forget the Old Dutch

where henk makes very nice bread and sausage rolls, cookies, cakes soups and dutch food take away

also buy dutch cheese from him much cheeper than at npf or da vinci

  5. For European brands your choices are mostly limited to Home Pro, HomiKitch and Index Living Mall.

The selection is mostly Identical between the three. The price will depend who has the best deal for the brand you are looking for at the time you are looking.

When I outfitted my Kitchen with Fagor (Stove, hood, Microwave, Oven, and dishwasher) Index living Mall had the best price, The next month Home Pro had the best price for the same appliances. HomiKitch was always the most expensive (for my items)

My stuff bought at Index Living Mall was installed by the same installer who does Homikitch, I am not sure about Home pro, although if you live in Chiang Rai you may be installing it yourself.

It is also my understanding that out of all of the European brands only Teka has has service in Chiang Mai.

If you are buying a Dishwasher keep in mind that they are still not very common here and sometimes the soap can be hard to find, so stock up.

In addition buying a single brand will usually net you a better deal as each brand has its own sales person.

    Good Luck

sound pretty much like i was thinking

im a kitchen guy so i wanted to buy things like franke or smeg an oven, gas hobe , steamer , hood and fridge the same time

so all the help you all give me is nice thanks

  6. hi can someone please tell me where to find the biggest electrical shop in chiang mai is

thinking about fridges, tv, stoves like franke, smeg washing machine or things like that

building a new house want to buy everything at one place hope to get a better price than where i live in chiang rai

  7. Ok, first the disclaimer: I work at this hotel, so my opinion in NOT unbiased. Therefore, I won't say much, except to mention that we have just opened, and I believe that our promotional rate is very reasonable for the facilities and services we provide.

If you are inclined to do so, please check out our website and judge for yourself: www.katiliya.com.

Either way, I'm sure you'll be happy with any of the hotels recommended in the responses you have received.

    Best wishes!

    ok cool looks nice

be at your place tomorrow for lunch

    love italian food

  8. We'll be staying at the Shangri La in CM and Le Meridien in CR and another one in MHS that I don't remember.

    ISPY

Which Hotel Would You Recomend?, Dusit , Imperial or Le Meridien
Which of these 3 hotels would you recommend?
I'm using air miles for the hotels so cost really is no object and it limits me to these choices.

Did you read any of the thread?

    The Imperial is old fashioned.

I suggest The Legend in Chiang Rai, view on the Mae Kok river.

    Cheers

    hv a nice holiday

    both hotels r very good

    being both of them

the oriental in cm is also amazing its like a movie sett from hollywood

  10. There will be Christmas at Don's 380 per person including prime rib, turkey and Virginia ham stuffing and all of the trimmings.

After the new year I plan to be in Doi Hang a lot to try to improve the qualilty and service. My staff here like in Phuket left alone tend to play a lot. There will be major changes made next year for the bakery, butchery and restaurant. Next to impossible to find staff even with good pay and living quarters. Give us a little time next year.

I'm there, 12 o'clock start right? Although I was tempted by the new Le Meridien offer, 1800baht per person!!!Ha ha

On the flyer I have I think it say's 599 baht per person and 380 baht per child but whatever it is it looks a good spread.

the 1800 is for adults only children are free of charge i was told the btuch is buffet and with free sparkling ( not so bad )
  11. 1000 baht - that's 28 bottles of Chang Beer! Will sound pretty good on the CD then! Will have to think hard about this one.

It is BAHT or maybe you get a free BATH thrown in there too!

  14. im building a new house want to have a central gas or solar heating system for water

would like to have some help on what is the best way of heating shower and kitchen water and wich pipes to use

    anyone have good ideas ??

    3 bathrooms and kitchen

I have built several houses here in Thailand and have put central hot water heaters ( electric ) in all of them. The only option for pipeing is pvc for the cold side and galvanised for the hot side. Make sure that they dont get the pipes reveresed when laying the pipes in the wall. Also when laying out the route of the pipes from the faucets to water heater remember that some day you are probally going to have to replace the galvanised ones so therfore you have to decide which is better to tear up floor or the wall and what section.

1 house I built was a 2 story with a carport underneath the front section with the bathroom and kitchen directly above which made all the plumbing exposed. Also when they pored the beams I put a 2 inch piece of pvc across ways in the form that allows for a runway, that way everything is not hanging on the bottom of the beams. Good luck up this helps

do you use copper pipes ????

  18. Are you people sure its Thai culture just because they broadcast local events i dont see it as a culture. Its village society not culture because in the city ppl dont do this.

I hate those broadcast too but i respect public proverty and will never vandalize them. Maybe if i'm really pissed and angry like that guy, who knows. :o

living in paris doesn't make you to understand or feel like living in france

  19. This is Thailand and I have lived here for a long time. I respect the Thai Culture and, in turn, the Thai's respect me!

If a person chooses to live in a different country they should also respect the culture.

If they do not they have the choice to relocate, but I think they will constantly be "on the run!"

Our village organization was in the process of installing a public address system - similar to those installed in most Thai villages around Thailand. These PA systems are used to broadcast announcements to residents in a village.

During installation, they were playing Look Thung music - which I must agree, was on the side of being a bit too loud. After around 4 songs, the music suddenly disappeared.

Apparently, one very irate foreigner decided to rip off the cables and in the process destroys the equipment. This person was apparently annoyed by the loud music.

Furthermore, said person says that if there were going to be announcements, that it should be broadcast in English. English!!! At a village where 95% of the residents are Thai nationals!!!

The foreigner with an attitude is married to a Thai.

I just wonder what this dude was thinking about? Does he think he owns the place?

getting respect from a thai is not that difficult

just act normal and smile thats what they do

but to understand what there thinking and whats really going on is something els

thats why there is still corruption and respect for people with money and power

good example is taksin the people still love him

we foreigners wil never understand and maybe its better this way

i live very happy in thailand and have the possibility to return but i dont want there are few places like this left i think

hope the guy takes it easy and we all learn something every day

  20. I used to live in a village in Phayao Province and in our village the racket started at 5.45 with awful music. If there had been a donation event at the wat, then all the donations were read out for up to an hour and a half! Why coundn't they post a list on the temple notice board?

One day the Phuyaiban and gang where rewiring the system outside our property. I pointed to my watch, brandished my hedge sheres at the wire, and said, "Jet Mong Chow Khrap" and waied to them, they all laughed. Well, he complied for a few weeks, but in time it reverted to 6am.

I was on friendly terms with all in my village (ex-wife excepted), if one smiles a lot and are polite (despite one's feeling) there's 'my punha' here. It's the behaviour of some uncouth falangs here, who are totally ignorant of Thai culture, that tarnishes the reputation for the rest of us.

Thank Buddha we now live kms away from any village and sound system, and the new Mrs. Lannaman is lovely!

yes lannaman im moving away from the village soon to

after 11 years trying to understand and helping them

so i look forward to live a normal life ( normal )

  21. I don't care about these announcements, early in the morn and after. I even bought a speaker unit to broadcast=1,800b if i remember.

I object to the bad thai music they play for 5 min before the pui yai talks, and sometimes later. Cant they just have a short alarm clock warning or something before????

tradition tradition the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation

one of the things we in the west have lost a long time ago

so now we roll in to a place and want to change them to

ya ya the almighty money spitting white guy

  22. I don't know but this guy just wrote his own death warrant. Lots of Thais in the village now have a lot of anti-farang feeling.

The village security guards have also raised the alarm regarding one other farang who is fond of bringing young boys with him back to the village - I kid you not.... :o

These are not the kind of farang I would like to have for neighbors.

The Puyai Barn usually hits the switch about 7am here and we get another serve about 6pm.

I'm well and truly up by 7 and still not in bed by 6 so it doesn't bother me.

I wonder what this idiot does at election time when the pick ups with the loudspeakers on the back come around the streets?

Is he buying an RPG launcher?

frustration , irritation , not understanding , no control , what more do you want

the thought of buying a nice last days palace is sometimes ending like that

so i dont know if i feel sorry for the thais or the guy

  23. Do yourselves a favor and try Fumizuki on Phaholyothin Rd. a block or so from the Wiang Inn. Excellent food, even better prices. Tell the owner (Jin) that Lynn sent you.

Was there yesterday it was not so bad

had tempura, sushi and fried pork dumplings

some warm sake the pleasure of getting to know a nice japanese guy

    so lunch was ok
