  1. Trying to help out an employee. She was born in South Africa. Unmarried. 3 years ago she had 3 years son in U.K.

Father was Australian and acknowledges being father in writing and pays support. He was not added to the UK Birth Certificate. Father will assist in being added as required.

What must now be done to add him in Birth Certificate?

The child will also have claim to Australian citizenship. That part I believe that be achieved once UK Birth Certificate is amended.

  2. I don't recall seeing any reports of getting a multiple entry non-ed visa within the region.

A multiple entry visa gives you unlimited 90 day entries for a year. You have to leave every 90 days. If you do an entry on or before the enter before date on the visa you can get another 90 day entry giving a total stay of about 15 months from the visa.

The Rule as I understand and which has been reinforced many times to me is that an Ed Visa application can be for a Single Entry only. Although, I am aware that some European "Honorary" consulates will issue Multi.

  3. Immigration Rules do not say where the money has to come from... just that it has to be in Thai Bank in your name for the required amount of time.

I know a number of people who have borrowed from family, friends, or others, to fulfill the bank requirements. Are they criminals? I do not think so.

  4. I am not going int the merits or otherwise of capital punishment...

The Indonesian Presidents states that is policy on executions is to protect the Indonesian people from drugs.

Yet the drugs is this case were coming from Indonesia detined for use in Australia, so hardly likely to affect the Indonesian people in general.

Has there been any attempt to locate the source of the drugs.

  5. Thai 'Red Shirt' leader sentenced to two years in jail
    AFP
BANGKOK: -- A Thai court Wednesday sentenced a leader of the opposition Red Shirt movement to two years in prison for defaming a former premier, in a move analysts said was the latest attack against critics of the military regime.
The ruling comes days after the retroactive impeachment and announcement of corruption charges against ex-prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, whose toppled government was backed by the Red Shirts before May's army coup.
The court convicted Jatuporn Prompan on two counts of defamation against former royalist prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva during speeches he made in October 2009.
"The verdict is two years in prison without suspension," a court official told AFP.
Jatuporn, chairman of the Red Shirts, has faced a slew of court cases including for slander in recent years.
His lawyer Wiyat Chatmontree confirmed the sentencing and said his client is applying for bail.
"We have posted 200,000 baht ($6,000) for bail and the court will rule this afternoon," he said.
Thailand analyst David Streckfuss told AFP the ruling was the latest attempt to quash any opposition to the military regime.
"It seems to be part of a larger plan by the Bangkok establishment to silence and force aside their vocal critics," he said.
Yingluck was impeached by a junta-stacked parliament last Friday, leading to an automatic five-year ban from politics. She had been forced out of office in a controversial court ruling before the military's coup.
The same day she was impeached, prosecutors announced corruption charges that could see her face a decade in jail.
Experts say the move against Thailand's first female premier and the sister of former leader Thaksin Shinawatra is the latest attempt by the country's royalist elite, and its army backers, to nullify the political influence of the Shinawatras.
Thailand's long-running political conflict broadly pits Bangkok's middle-class and royalist elites, backed by parts of the military, against rural and working-class voters loyal to Thaksin.
Parties led by or aligned to the Shinawatras have won every election in Thailand since 2001.

I am not sure which one is the most "one sided"... BBC or AFP. Would be nice to get balanced news.

  6. Whilst not discussing the merits or otherwise of Capital Punishment, the Indonesian President make much noise about the Indonesian drug problem... So note that the charge was for smuggling of drugs out of Indonesia.. not into.

"The men were among a group of Australians, dubbed the "Bali Nine", arrested in 2005 for attempting to smuggle eight kilogrammes (18 pounds) of heroin out of the Indonesian resort island of Bali".

  7. I was talking with a DM and he told me he had a 1 year multi entry Ed visa from America with paperwork from a Thai language school.

Every 3 months he had to leave the country but no worries about 90 day immigration reports and checking his Thai ability.

Maybe he was not accurately with his description of his process.

Strictly speaking, Ed Visa can only be issued as a Single Entry, according to MFA.

Some Honoury Consulate issue Multiple Entry but is not correct way.

  8. Agree, Krey.

We have an official letter from Ministry of Education dated yesterday to the contrary.

That's even better than a photo of the letter. Would you be so kind as to scan the letter you have and post it here?

    MOE Letter and unverified translation.

The confusion seems to be about.."... and to finish each curriculum not longer than 6 months".

And that is what it means... i.e. Basic Thai 6 months.. the continue Elementary Thai 6 months. That is one year. Then you have to leave Thailand to get new Ed Visa to continue to next curriculum and so on.

  9. If you contact an agent in Penang they would be able to get you a copy of what is accepted by the consulate.

Had two students refused today with documents they were acceptable last Friday.

Have sent 3 emails to Penang requesting list of requirements. No response.

No schools seems to be interested in contacting MFA as a group to get some commonality... There are legit schools and students affected.

  10. ignore above, Mochit does not serve HHIn,as its south.

Always use brains a little more and tell any likes/dislikes-as most TV-users seem to thrive on specific ones.

Forget train, unless you also want to visit BKK's station for a few hrs-due to timings-you wont reach Hhin untill around 18.00

Quickest+cheapest-with some smartness, knowledge of Thai: MINIvan from main rd to Vict.Monu-via tollway, then a ditto van to HHIn, from hospital compound.

Alt. for the sureproof fulloffears people: taximeter to SaiTHai, then the big bus, but I noted last visit there that even these do not run hourly anymore-the vans have taken over.

For the detouring: free bus to BKK/Swampy (arr. at DMK also allows you in)< then the BELL tourist direct bus-hourly-more or less.

Take the last option offered avove...

For the detouring: free bus to BKK/Swampy (arr. at DMK also allows you in)< then the BELL tourist direct bus-hourly-more or less.

Comfortable, safe bus from the 2nd floor at Swampy.
