  1. My wife questioned me about why I wouldn't invest in property in Thailand last week, even in a condo, I simply stated that what the thai government says THIS WEEK, the SAME THAI GOVERNMENT, would simply, IMPLEMENT SOMETHING ELSE THE WEEK AFTER. Honestly, going on holiday for a few weeks to thailand is expensive nowadays... I still love the place and truly think its the place ill retire but the thai hoverment doesn't make it easy.

I'd be happy to see reciprocal treatment for thai citizens in other countries the same as "falang" in Thailand. See how "kun prayut" likes it

Once those flight prices normalise I'm sure plenty will come

Second that! No way should it be close to £1000 for flights. I could understand straight after the lockdowns because you had lots of people missing thailand and family but I've looked for out of season next year and seen £700 economy which is expensive compared to pre covid

    2 weeks holiday ???

And the paranoia has kicked in already.

Relax brother, stop listening to people waffling  <deleted>, chill & enjoy your holiday.

I was more motivated to prove the missus and her mate wrong haha I was sure it wasn't the case I had to tell immigration exactly where I was every time I moved, (some of the goverment would love that power mind)

    Thank you everyone

  4. Well.... that's all phuket needs, honestly I've not been since 2019 but wow the amount of Indian restaurants is staggering compared to a few years ago. When will thailand learn people from certain parts of Asia will not spend money in thai businesses? Chinese tours stay in a single hotel walk around and eat at the hotel. Indian families walk around and eat at Indian restaurants....

  5. Hello,

I'm currently on holiday with the missus, (thai) her other friend has come at the same time and they've just told my missus that I have to report to our local immigration and tell them where I'm staying otherwise I will have to pay 800thb, is this true ? I'm only here for 2 weeks and I thought reporting was only if you're on a proper visa not just a visa on arrival.

    Thanks

  6. Has anyone flown with thai airways in the last few months ? I'm flying with them end of July just wondering what their service is like at the minute ?

Drinks when you want decent food entertainment that sort of thing.

    Cheers

  7. hello,

my sister in law is traveling to the uk on the 29/01/2022 via zurich with swiss airways.

she is fully vaccinated and has her thai covid certificate, has a day 2 covid test booked for when she arrives in the uk and

i have filled out the passenger locater forms for both the uk and switzerland which is all is required for the destinations she will be transiting [zurich]

    and finishing [uk].

after speaking to some random "travel companion" she met on a facebook group shes now under the impression she needs a test before she can even board a flight from thailand to the uk even though its not stated as such on the uk and swiss goverment websites...

has anyone any idea on this or has recent experience ?

    thanks in advance

    In fact, this makes sense.

Vaccines should be given to nationals of foreign countries at their respective embassies.

    Why not?

Last I looked there were only around 50,000 brits registered living in Thailand.

They could do us all within a week at the embassy in BKK, its big enough!

    Where are you, Brian? ????

Back of the queue if you don't live in the uk, rightly so, but it's a good idea to be honest

Apparently, the administration has its own mind and applies laws in the way it pleases.

I have seen this several times already - the law says one thing, in theory including foreigners in its application, and then the administration, on it's own, decides it's "Thai only" or "non-directors only" or whatever.

One example is the registration with Thai social security - the law says anyone receiving a salary can register, but the SS office refuses to register directors. With no legal basis.
Another example is registration of an usufruct - Land offices just refuse to do it. Without any legal basis again. Land offices are just there to officially register legal acts permitted by law, not to decide whether they want to accept or not to do it, they should have no say at all other than requiring the necessary documents.
I'm sure there are many other examples.

I'd love for someone to take one of these places to court and challenge their practices, surely the courts would rule against them and set precedent for the whole country ?

My now Thai ex-wife after 12 years of marriage returned home in the US from her supposed 6 week Thailand vacation to tell me she no longer loved me, wanted a divorce, but if she decided she still loved me in a year we could remarry.  It was a week later I found out she had cheated on me and found a new millionaire boyfriend in the US. She had only gone to Thailand for one week, dropped our daughter of at her parents, flew back to the US where she hooked up with her new boyfriend she had met at her work, spent 4 weeks with him in Hawaii, then flew back to Thailand to retrieve our daughter and return home.  Didn't cover her tracks very well, phone records, Google tracking gps, and once confronted she balled like a baby asking me not to take her daughter away from her.  Booted her ass out of the house, filed for divorce and had the daughter live with me until she was 14 and made her own decision on where she wanted to live. Takes all kinds, but I never saw it coming, as I had just had back and neck surgery.  Due to a prenuptial she got nothing but her car. My first American ex wife said the same thing Brits did, I haven't loved you for the last 10 years. Adios, the door is open you can leave at anytime dont let it hit you in the a$$ on your way out. Financially recovered and very happy with what I have now. This GF knows she can leave anytime she wants with what she has and would be replaced quickly, but she is a smart one, knows the value of what she has, and she has more liquid cash than I do, and she is not Thai.

Madness that, plenty of stories out there about this sort of stuff that's why people should be very picky about who they get with. Nobody knows how things will turn in the future just have to protect yourself and hope for the best otherwise you'll stay single and bitter, but, each to their own. If I was in my 50s was single and had a load of spare cash I'd probably not consider getting married and just play the field for as long as possible

Love is an emotion and changes as quickly as the wind changes direction. Don't kid yourself.

Nobodies kidding themselves I've been in long term relationships before and love has come and gone, but again, that's doesn't mean thai women cannot love and money is the only thing they want, ofcourse there are thousands upon thousands of women in the tourist areas that only have money in mind but there are equally just as many genuinely wanting a partner, pot luck.
