  1. Just came back from immigration so thought I'd give an update on how it went.

For entry stamp transfer you need to go to office number 3.  There is a desk outside where they give you the form to fill and check everything.  They wanted a copy of EVERY page of my old passport.  They did not ask for TM30 form.  I had to wait about 1 hour.

After this I went for my extension which was processed as normal with my new passport.

  2. Hey,

I am currently in Thailand on a 60 day tourist visa.

I have recently got my new passport from Trendy and I am planning to do a 30 day extension of stay at Chiang Mai immigration next week.  Does anyone know the procedure for doing this while also transferring my visa/stamp to my new passport?

Do I have to do the transfer first and then the extension or vise versa or even at the same time?

Any unexpected requirements?  I have letter from Trendy requesting transfer, copies of both passports and photos.

    Thanks.

  3. Apologies if this has already been answered but after searching the forum I found many conflicting responses.

I am in Thailand on a 60 day Tourist Visa which runs out end of August (no extension).  I have just applied for my new UK Passport which should arrive in the next 4 weeks.  When I get my new passport I am planning to fly out of Thailand probably from Chiang Mai airport (maybe Bangkok depending on connections).

    So questions,

From other posts I believe that I can just present both passports when flying out of Thailand.  Is that correct or do I need to go to immigration before leaving to transfer the entry stamp from old to new passport?

If I can use both passports at the airport when leaving do I need anything else apart from the letter I will receive when I pick up my new passport? Like photocopies or pictures, etc

    Thanks

  4. Thanks everyone for your replies.  The wording on the guidance documents definitely does not suggest they will accept any other types of documents as proof of residency so great to know that they do.

I have my rental agreement which is in both English and Thai plus statements from DTAC and Bangkok Bank which are all again in both English and Thai.

Seems like a bank statement from bangkok bank is the best option and maybe I'll take everything else just to be sure!

    Thanks again.

  5. Hi,

I need to renew my UK passport shortly and part of the requirement is to "provide evidence of name and address and/or residency dated within the last year".

The documents accepted for this are given below:

Please provide one of the following:
    • visa or resident permit (or colour photocopy)
    • tax record eg a letter from a tax authority
    • educational record eg school report
    • employment record eg official letter from your employer
    • letter sent to you from a central, regional or local government department
    • medical/health card
    • voter’s card
    • immigration documents.

The only one of these that I can provide is the visa, however, after being here for the past 9 months on a guardian visa (based on my daughter being in school here) I now have a tourist visa after pulling my daughter out of school.

So, anyone know whether my tourist visa, perhaps combined with my previous Non-O, would be sufficient for this residency evidence requirement?

    Cheers.

  6. Thank you for your reply.  That's what I was afraid of.

I should be able to arrange with the school to put the leaving date for a few weeks time (it is school holidays now).

I was planning to fly to Bali end of next week.

Do I need to cancel the extensions at immigration or can I just fly out of Thailand and get an exit stamp to effectively do the same thing?

    Thanks again.

  7. I've been unable to find much info on my situation so would be grateful for any help

My daughter has a NON O ED visa for attending school in Thailand and I have the Guardian Visa attached.  I did the extension in December to get 12 month stamp.

Last week I took her out of the school she was attending and they have now asked that I come to the school to sign a document to confirm her withdrawal so that they can inform immigration.

    So my questions are:

    1.  How long do I have before I have to leave Thailand from when she officially leaves the school ?

    2.  Is there any issue with getting a tourist visa after the ED visa so we can come back for a few months?

    Thanks.

  8. Hi,

I found this thread looking for information on the requirements for the extension of stay for being a guardian of a child attending school.

I have a question regarding the requirement to have 500K in thai bank.  Is it possible to instead show Evidence of adequate finance ( 20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family ) ?  I found this on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

If it is does anyone know what this would entail?  (for example last 3 months bank statements showing income)

    Thanks!
