  1. Have a motorized C band mesh type dish with dual LNB ( C/KU band) on same LNB unit. So there is seperate output for each C and Ku band. You will need a Diseqc switch between LNB and motor controller unit (or receiver for fixed dish) . Since have mesh type dish, the signal for Ku band is not as strong as metal type dish.

  2. Don't forget copy of bank statement or passbook with balance of over B 100,000 is required. Copy of marriage cert, spouse's house registration and Thai ID.

There is Skybus from LCCT to KL Sentral for RM9 takes abou 40-50 min same destination as Express Train. From KL Sentral you can change to LRT to get to KLCC station or take a taxi from here.

He is not married. And even for married the 100k is not a "requirement" from any post I have seen. Zero to 100k seems to have worked recently - but that was for spouse.

I was there for a visa about couple weeks ago. It was posted on the notice board in the consular section 100k bank statement is one of the doc needed for Non-O based on marriage.

BTW, Thai Embassy about 10 min walk from Ampang park LRT station.

  3. Just to update on the China visa situation. Went there today, for non-Thai passport holder, somehow they requested Thai resident permit (upon further clarification they mean 1 year extension of visa), $100 traveller cheque, airline ticket and hotel reservation. This has not been the condition last year when I applied for it.

So, it's no go for me. Pretty upset about the changes they made. So unless you got a Thai visa with 1-year extension of stay, basically can't apply here.

  4. Anyone with success using Bank of America method of transfer money from other US banks to Bangkok Bank? With the following steps:

    1) Setup external link from your US banks account with Bangkok Bank (New York Branch) routing number: 026008691 and Bangkok Bank Thailand

bank account number. Usually they make two small deposits ( less than $1) to verify the account ownership.

    2) Bangkok Bank New York branch will credit to Bangkok Bangkok Thailand account with a flat fee of $5

    3) Bangkok bank Thailand do the foreign currency exchange with fee from B200 to B500

    Questions:

    1) How to obtain the info for the two small deposits, call Bualuang 1333 or have to go the the bank?

    2) Any transfer amount limit?

It seems like a cheaper alternative than SWIFT wire transfer if you do regular transfer. Anyone that have done this can shed some light?

    Thanks.

  5. I have a personal checking acount with Bank of America, and I have been transferring money to my Bangkok Bank account monthly via the internet for more than a year now. Cost is $3 to transfer up to $10,000 and it takes 3 business days to complete the transfer.

Are you doing this by using the Bangkok Branch NY routing number and your Thailand bank account number?

I don't know which branch of BB routing number the BoA uses. I didn't provide the routing number, it was already in the BoA link when I set this up.

This sounds like an ACH transfer to Bangkok Bank NY which then forwards it to Thailand. It was discussed just about 2 years ago here:

    http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...c=41816&hl=

Some people said some larger dollar transfers were stopped and some couldn't set this up at all. But for others it worked just fine like your situation.

I get the higher on-shore rate, wouldn't that mean that the transfer was in dollars to Thailand and coverted here?

I always get the onshore rate when I transfer dollars. Today the onshore rate is 34.27 and the offshore is 31.85. It's quite a big difference.

Thank you for all the responses. I have read through the posts on Bank of America, some reports that online transfer options is not available to them depends on which state the account is opened, any truth to that? Anyone has HSBC in US (HSBC direct) that able to do wire transfer online? I got a HSBC from Singapore and it has the worldwide wire transfer option.

    Thanks.

  6. I wonder if there are reliable banks in USA that allow to initiate wire transfer to Thailand online. There are discussions about Bank of America but seems to have various success stories? How about checking account with Everbank, Bank of Internet or any other banks? Any success story that can been shared and the fees involved?

    Thanks a bunch.

  7. Ahh I see now,(seemed abit basic to get tested on)

By the way are the hire cars generaly auto or manual gear? Also, I have been reading around and I have found various other things people have been tested on such as hill starts etc.. maybe it changes depending on where you take the test.

You can choose either auto or manual gear, both types are available for rental.

  8. Got my license at Sukhumvit Soi #99 couple months ago. You will need a letter from embassy or immigration to certify your address, a doctor certificate, photos, copy of non-imi visa ( I have a 60 day tourist visa and it's fine). If you have a license from another country, all you need to do is depth perception test, color blindness and peripheral vision test.

If not, have to go through the whole day ordeal of the above tests, follow by sitting through a 2hr class with instructor and video watching only in Thai language. After that, the multiple choices written test on a computer terminal (available in English).

After lunch, then the driving test. It consists of three parts. Driving forward and reverse and not hitting object. Side parking, both wheel on the left must touch the white line next to curb and front wheel must stop between the white lines. Follow by parallel parking.

Rental car is available at the testing center for 100 baht a pop. Should you fail the driving test come back 7 days later.

  9. For those heading for Singapore for multiple entry non-O, be prepared to show the most updated bank passbook or bank statement with min 400k baht. Even the last monthly bank statement when you apply this month is not good enough for the gal there. So either have your passbook update before going to Singapore or bring the statement shows balance dated within last few day. If not they are only going to issue you single entry Non-O and ask you to apply for extension in BKK.

  10. Another question about work permit. For someone with multi-entry non immi "o" visa but does not have 1 year extension permit, and has to do 90 day border run. If he applies for work permit, does the work permit expires on the visa expiration date or the 90 day stamp expiration time? Does he need to revalidate the work permit or visa once travels outside the country and back?

Let say he wants to get 1 year extension of stay but no qualify based on non-immi "o" for 40k monthly income, can he get a non-immi "b" and qualify for 1 year extension based on business? Can someone has both non-immi "o" and non-immi "b" coexist? Does the embassy issuing the visa or the immigration cancel your the other visa?

Could someone shed a light on this?

    Thanks

  11. There was a promotion going on that you can get 1 year validility when you top up your One-2-Call. Not sure if it is still going on since can't see English option in One-2-Call website anymore.

I switched to that program and it saves me quite a few baht since I don't need to top up all the time. I am not heavy user but I used to top up every month 300baht just to keep it valid. No more now, only top up when balance running low. Walk in any AIS shops and ask them about, they should be able to switch you.

  12. My fiancee, a Thai, and I getting married next month. I would like to know if Thailand embassy in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore will issue non-immi "O" before getting married, if so what documents do they need? I am currently in Thailand with Non-Immi tourist visa.

Anyone have success story to share that embassy at those locations issue non-immi "O" before getting married? Do they issue single entry or mutiple entry type?

Got my current tourist visa in KL, any report on difficulties getting back to back tourist visa from Singapore since I am heading there soon?

  13. So far I only found this doc that defines seperate property "sin suan tua" from community property "sin somros".

    http://www.tillekeandgibbins.com/publicati...usband_wife.pdf

Anyone has experience in registering a right of habitation after marriage registration, with property acquired before marriage registration? How much is the taxes and fees to register right of habitation compare to usufruct?

My understanding is that even the foreigner spouse signs off the doc from Land Department claiming that she buys the property "with her own money", however in the unfortunate event of divorce, the foreigner spouse still entitled to half worth of property since it's community property acquired during the marriage. Am I wrong?

    Thanks.

  14. I would like to ask experts opinion on this situation.

I am a non-Thai planning to marry to my Thai fiancee. However, we are not able to register the marriage in Thailand until end of the year.

Meanwhile, we would like to purchase a house from housing project with house and land together before the marriage registration under her name. Would like to know could a right of habitation be done after the marriage registration? Would the property acquired before the registration of marriage be considered not part of communal property instead her personal property instead?

What would the best possible solution for this situation? Is right of habitation or usufruct the correct route?
