Forget Penang as an option with your history.

Kuala Lumpur is a possibility but they might deny it.

For a visa exempt entry from Malaysia about any crossing would be OK since you apparently have on done one at a border crossing this year. Just be prepared to show at least 10k baht in cash (sometimes they want 20k baht) and a ticket out of the country.

Have you considered getting a new passport that would erase you history of tourist visas being issued. It does not change things for immigration but at a embassy or consulate they only look for previous visas in your passport.

That's a good idea man. I will definitely do that when visiting my home country at the end of the year

Things have been changing so fast that it is difficult to be sure. In your position, I would apply in Yangon. You need a Myanmar visa, easily applied for online. You can fly to Yangon, then return with visa via overnight VIP bus to Myawaddy, crossing into Thailand at Maesot. From there, there are frequent flights (sometimes expensive now) to Bangkok from Maesot airport close to the border, or you can use the buses.

Thanks for suggestion! I've never been Myanmar so that's much more tempting than going Malaysia again. As you probably done this trip at least once can i trouble you with few questions?

    1) Is the procedure any different from KL/Vientiane embassies ? Do i need to prepare any extra documents like bank statement/copy of accomodation reservation in Thailand/ticket out of Thailand?

    2) At border crossing in Maesot do you need to show 10k/20k thb or ticket out of Thailand?

    3) Have you been sightseeing on the way from Yangon to the border? Anywhere you would recommend to stop for a bit longer?

Also has there been any reports about people being denied TR visa in Yangon? I suck at searching ????

  2. Hi

What is the easiest place to apply for Tourist Visa? Till 2 months ago i thought Vientiane is pretty chill, but i was refused TR there and had to entry Thailand on Visa Exempt (1st time this year).

I realize that with my history (numerous TR visas with extensions, staying most of the year in Thailand) any consulate can refuse, so i'm just looking to maximize my chances. Right now I'm considering Penang or Kuala Lumpur. Besides these 2 is there any better option?

Also as a plan B in case of being refused visa in Malaysia i would like to enter Thailand by land using Visa Exempt. Which border crossing would be the best to go through?

    Cheers

  3. Hi. I applied for SETV in Vientiane and today went to collect my passport but I was told they won't give me visa because of long stay in Thailand. Last time I applied for visa in Vientiane was almost 2 years ago and i thought in worst case they would give visa with the warning. Anyway now I'm wondering if it's safe to cross through Nong Khai border by land without visa for 15 day exempt. Is immigration there restrictive as in BKK airport? Do I need 20k THB or flight outside of Thailand?

I was there 3-4 years ago. You don't need a visa. They will simply stamp you a visa free entry for 90 days. However since you were denied entry in Thailand they will probably investigate why. Be ready to show that you have money, probably a flight out as well and just to be sure get some cancelable accommodation on booking.com or similar. I would book a flight with cancellation insurance online.

edit: You should definitely not come back by Phuket airport. Use a land border instead then a domestic flight if needed.

I was assured by immigration officer that if I get tourist Visa I can come by Phuket airport and I will be permitted entry.

  5. Alright so quick update:

I was allowed to go to any destination I want which was very surprising since other 2 guys in the room (1 more joined few hours ago) have to go back to the same exact destination. One of them will have his flight costs covered by AirAsia though.

I booked return flight with AirAsia to KL and back to Phuket.

Thank you for all the replies from people trying to help and providing support. I appreciate it.

Could you also answer 4 questions about KL visa issuing process? (My first time there)

    1. Do they require any other documents than:

    - application form

    - passport

    - copy passport

    - flight in and out of Thailand

    - proof of accommodation in Thailand?

    2. Where on the KL airport or close to embassy can I make photos and document prints?

    3. I also found this on their website

To ensure that clear and precise information is given, visa enquiry can only be made through email at [email protected].

I'm not sure what they mean. I already booked appointment for tomorrow 10.20-10.50.

    4. And how much do I need in THB to show officer in KL when crossing immigration in case he/she asks?

  6. After arriving Phuket I didn't sign anything

The other guy in the room with me have the same situation. 15min ago representative of AirAsia just came and said his next flight back to Penang (where he came from) is already booked for free

China Eastern flies from Japan to Thailand. Where did your flight originate? Did you only connect in Japan?

I would be concerned now the Japanese will not accept you either. They be like that. may have to buy a ticket back to Poland.

Embarked in Nagoya with transit in Shanghai

How frequent did you have your tourist visas?

How many days did you stay in Thailand after your visa was used?

Usually close to maximum. I live in Thailand so pretty much every 3 months. I also had METV 2 times from my home country

  7. Thanks for all replies.

Around 3am representative of Thaiairways (I came with China Eastern, apparently they were not available) came to the room and said I'm allowed to go to KL, but immigration in KL will not accept me. Is that true? If yes then the only option for me is to take the same flight back to Nagoya (Japan). She was surprised when I asked if airline would cover my ticket.

I'm not allowed to talk with immigration so all the information had to be passed by her. No offence to her but she didn't seem sure of anything, so I'm waiting till 8am and will try to talk with China Eastern representative to confirm and make sure

Stayed at the Doung Pra Seuth hotel (1,647 Baht 2 nights includes breakfast, Hotels.com) had breakfast at 6:30, walked across to the consular section at 7am with 5 people in front of me, gates opened about 7:30 for you to take a seat.

Copies are available at 5 Baht each and there are some people in the consular section who will complete the form for you for a fee. I needed a copy of my last entry and exit stamp from Thailand. Someone near me needed copies of all his visas and stamps.

At 8:30 3 people started checking documents and passing out the above notice (they didn't notice the missing copies, I was asked to show the original pretty marriage cert but not my bank book ), the passports and application and support documents were handed into a consular official. By about 8:50 my number was called and I was told to get the extra copies. 9:10 back in the hotel for second breakfast, very little still left but I got a couple more cups of coffee.

I just noticed the time stamp on the queue number, it was not the time they checked my documents but about an hour earlier.

The passport number showing on the paper is not my complete number just the last few digits

I will be staying at the same hotel

If that's not a problem please let me know tomorrow what time you got your passport with visa back

I did this run two weeks ago.

    MONDAY:

Udon Thani to Friendship Bridge 200 baht minivan takes 50 minutes

    20 baht bus over bridge

31 USD for Laos visa on Oz passport

300 baht taxi to Vientiane Fountain Complex

    TUESDAY :

Arrived Consulate at 7.20am was 12th in queue

Let in at 8am and given application forms

    Filled out application

At 8.30am desk opens and they check paperwork and give you a number (12 for me)

At 9am the window opens and goes through numbers one at a time (tells you paperwork is good and come back tomorrow 1pm to collect)

    WEDNESDAY :

    Arrived at 12.50pm

    Sit anyway

At 1pm window opens and call 7 numbers at a time (1-7) you bunch around window and show your ticket to collect passport, check visa and then sign

    Then 8-14 etc

Touts there offering 300 baht minivan rides to border BUT you have to wait until van is full before departure

Alternatively, 10,000 kip (400 baht) private taxi direct took 35 minutes

Change your kip back to baht at bank there

    Bus 20 baht over bridge

Customs is simple coming back as you already have a visa

Minibus to Udon Thani for 150 baht (I got lucky I think) again 50 minutes

Already checked in for flight, so straight to gate

Take food in your bag (stock up either the night before or early morning) otherwise you'll lose time buying food.

    Good luck

    Good info. Thanks man

  10. I will cross border on Sunday afternoon.

The visa run companies normally start to arrive at the Embassy around 6 30-7am

FYI the border opens at 6am, if you are departing on a Monday then you will join the rest of the scrum trying to get to the front of the Immigration booths

    It is 1 30pm

That's a gold information. You just saved me almost an hour of waiting in front of embassy. Thanks :)

It was 1 30 last time I was there 3 months ago Monday and Thursday are the visa run company  days and there are usually around 500 people there on those days

That would suck. Can anyone who've been there recently confirm? 13.00 or 13.30?

Take the 18:55 flight through Bangkok. Plenty of time for the connection at DMK, and you are still in Phuket by about 23:00.

I wish i have done that. <deleted> me.

Well i guess i'm just gonna arm myself with good book, show up at 5.30am and hope i will get < 50 number.

I have been to the Vientiane Embassy ( To be precise , I dont think that its the actual Embassy , as the Thai Embassy is a few K's away) before at 6 AM and there was already a queue of about 100 people  waiting .

The PP's are given back at about the rate of 4 per minute . So, whatever queue number you get, times it by 4 to get an estimation of when you will be receiving your PP back . My queue number was 500 and I got mine back about 4 PM

There are some Taxi guys who offer a ride from the Embassy to the airport and with military precision and no unexpected delays ,  it should be possible .

Isn't Distribution of Passports supposed to be between 13.00 - 15.00? And how did you get 500 number if there was only 100 people in que? Also what day of the week have you been there?

  13. 2 hours ago, BritTim said:

@ubonjoe really said it all. You need to be at Udon airport by 16:25 at latest (assuming online check in). Unless you can be away from the embassy by 14:30, you have little chance of making it, and even leaving the embassy at 14:30 would be tight. It takes 30 minutes in a good taxi to the bridge, a few minutes wait for the bus across, and about 45 minutes from Nong Khai to the airport. This excludes queuing time at immigration on each side.

Take a later flight, and avoid all the stress.

I would love to, but there is only one to Phuket :(

  14. 4 hours ago, ubonjoe said:

I think you would have to be very lucky to make your flight from Udon at 16:50.

    1. Yes

    2. At 7:30 you might be the first in line. What day of the week are you going. Avoid Monday and Thursday if possible since those are the days the visa run vans are there.

    3. You the number first then you drop off the application form, passport and copies.

    4. This is latest form. Vientiane visa form.pdf  Be sure you print in color.

    5. Not sure

    Monday unfortunately. Thanks for answers!

  15. Hey guys

So i will be doing visa run to Laos this month, and got some questions regarding that. Plan is to issue visa on Monday, get passport back on Tuesday, buck up and try to get to Udon Thani airport before my plane leaves (16.50).

    1. I'm assuming it works like this: the earlier you submit your application the earlier you get visa next day?

    2. From what i read Application for Visa is between 8.30 - 12.00. How early people start to que there? If i come at 7.30, will it be enough?

    3. How application process looks like? Do i get a number right away, or there is first some documents checking?

    4. I would like to have all documents ready before i go there. Is that form http://vientiane.thaiembassy.org/upload/pdf/Visa Application Form_new_V_13_8_2558.pdf up to date? Other than that, what else will i need to submit?

    5. What is the taxi fare from Embassy to Friendship Bridge and from Bridge to Udon Thani airport?

    6. Extra tips how to speed this process up?

    Any info is appreciated :)
