The missing so called non b papers can be easily emailed. No need for the return holiday to get them.

I have two unsecured credit cards here in Thailand - one from Krung Sri and one from KTC. I do work here and have so for 5 years with the same company. But it was not a complicated process.

hardly think 10,000 THB (250 euro) is a lot of money especially if you are travelling long haul to Asia.
I'm sure a letter from you means nothing - they want to see the cash.

How old are you ? Do u qualify for a retirement visa ?

So forget it. No car.

I think there is a lot more to this story. Particularly what the eco wrote.

No matter about borders etc your main problem will be returning from Thailand to Ireland.
No valid visa visa for the republic of Ireland will result in denial to the flight.
The airline will want to see a valid irish visa to allow her to board.

To clarify no one checked anything in Dublin.

Over the past few months I have been arranging the various visas required for my Thai wife's trip abroad with me.
We obtaimed our irish, uk family permit and schengen visa.
Interestingly on our flight from Dublin to LGW there was no border controls - simply bussed from plane to luggage carousel and out the door.
Somewhat surprised but oh well.

Just to update.
My wife received her EEA Family permit today. All in all it was processed in 14 working days. Sent last Friday and arrived today Monday.
Thanks to all for their information.

Does anyone know the actual processing times for an EEA Family Permit in Bangkok?
I have checked on the UK website and it says 100% by 10 days.
We applied on the 19th of May. it is now the 6th June. We received one automated email from the UK saying it had been forwarded to Sheffield and that was it, Nothing else since. We also applied for the SMS notification through VFS and to date have received one message saying my wife's application had been submitted.
Getting a tad bit uneasy.

Just a quick update.
We applied last Friday for her EEA Family Permit at the VFS at the Trendy Building. Bit of a mad house there at times.
Was dragged out by the checking of documents by VFS staff.
Anyway we will wait for the decision.

Just an update on our Portuguese visa application.
Went for the appointment a few weeks ago. They do like to ask for more paperwork than is required. I'm not really fussed about that to be honest.
Visa was approved in less than 10 days and a 6 month multi entry was granted. This is my wife's 4th Schengen visa.
All in all a hassle free experience.

Thank you once again

Thanks Donutz.
Yes I have all that including a paid flight to London from Dublin together.
Should I show any finances? My wife does not work and i am the sole earner in the family?

My wife and I will be travelling to Europe this summer.
She has secured her visas for both Ireland - main destination and Italy and Portugal.
We are applying now for a EEA Family Permit to visit London for a few days. I've been told its the easiest and quickest and also free of charge.
Does anyone have experience of this permit and the documents she should be submitting?
The list is very vague. I must also add that the online application on visa4uk was the longest form I have ever filled out and designed to completely confuse you.
Anyway - any advice on documents would be greatly appreciated.

Indeed, a Schengen visa at the Portugese embassy (issued for free, with minimum hassle and paperwork since a Thai and EU/EEA national -any EU/EEA/Swiss nationality other than such a citizen applying at the embassy of their own country) and a UK EEA permit (also issued for free, ASAP, minimum hassle etc.)
The sticky topics may be useful to you (I had to chuckle when I saw CharlieH's post <3 555) as it gives answer to the most commonly asked questions and misunderstandings. Note that from recent topics I recall that the Portugese may be a bit like the Spaniards and (wrongfully!) ask for your marriage to be registrated in your home country and provide evidence of this. This is not correct, any legal and genuine marriage should be accepted so if the paperwork shows a Thai marriage and all the papers are understood and deemed genuine etc. the embassy should accept this as evidence that you are indeed legally married and thus meet the requirement of "EU national married to non EU partner" (which is one of the type of people who are covered by directive 2004/38 if they also meet the other requirements: proof of identity of both and making evident that the foreigner joins the EU/EEA national. No other requirements such as financial requirements, insurance, hotel bookings etc. can be made. Some embassies wrongfully do insist though).
Thanks Donutz - I have dealt with the Portuguese embassy before and I found them very easy to deal with. Was never asked for any document stating our marriage was registered in Ireland. Fuss free and fairly quick - no fee charged. I will go back again. The Spanish did ask me for this a few years back. Luckily I was able to acquire this letter from my embassy but on application they never asked for it. Typical.
Its a shame all EU Embassies couldn't just follow the rules.

My wife and myself will be travelling back to my home county, the Republic of Ireland, in July for 1 month. We have travelled a few times before but want to make sure I have everything covered.
We have secured her Irish Visit Visa. On July 1st we will travel to Ireland.
On July 9th we plan to travel to London for 4 nights - what visa should we apply for ? regular tourist visa or EEA family permit?
On July 13th we will fly to Rome, Italy for 4 nights and then on July 17th we will fly to Portugal for 6 nights departing on the 23rd. Where do we apply for the Schengen visa? Italian Embassy or Portuguese?
I would appreciate your advice.

Good to see immigration taking things seriously.
