LOS is what you make of it,for better or worse

call centers could be legal in china? just bad business?
did they research that before drawing conclusions. doubt it.

the bently is still sitting there in the lot. front emblems were intact. interior was totaled. top part of car chassis appeared melted away. lot guard was watching could not get too close.

i would just airbnb it monthly when u want to go down. thats what i did. great places for 15-20k a month and just enjoy the view, pool etc. dont even have to worry about cleaning it when u leave.
if u get tired of it just book a new unit.
if you really need to by and just have the place sit vacant its on u. bad idea.

im going to say the atlanta at the end of sukhumvit 2. great location, pool and 700-800 baht rooms with balconies, quiet, great sleep every time.
no tv though. also you cant bring girls back if your tempted being just a block or two from nana plaza. cant party, etc.
but who needs the hassle / theft risk anyhow, plenty of short time places if thats what you need.

I keep finding hypodermic needle's on the beach in Jomtien . Guess there are a lot of diabetic farungs in this area as I look at the diets and health of many here . Possibly the needles that get dumped in the trash get into the water just like all the rest of the trash I see in the water that washes up on the beach . Last one I found walking on the beach I stuck in the side of a tree so others would see and not go in the water but not step on like I almost did when I was walking on the beach in front of the Russian Night market . Jomtien is on the way to becoming just as dirty as Pattaya has become and the view at night is now completely spoiled at night now just like Pattaya with all those towering massive lights above the trees that do little to light the path where you walk just a big show that has added to ruining what was a nice beach .
PS : someone needs to start a new thread about those disgusting lights that look like stadium lighting all along the beach , what a joke as in between the lights that area is pitch black at night and even where the lights are that are above the trees right under those trees it's also dark . The view from my condo looking at ocean has been ruined at night having to close the curtains to even sleep . Beach at night now looks like a major airport landing runway from my balcony
haha, those bulbs are super bright, halogen i think. love the way they form a complete circle out towards the water and inland also. no light shading just a bright bulb very high up glaring down on a super high metal pole apparatus.
my guess is that the thais expect only bad guys down there at night so dont consider ambiance. all the chair vendors pack up late afternoon like they are in a rush to leave.
there is a condo complex right on the tip in pratumnak. nothing but a small space of rocks between the condo balconies and sea. on a curve so nothing viewable to either side. could not figure out how they could screw that up. need to look into the prices there some day.

have swam sea in many places including cambodia, vietnam etc. which seemed ok waterwise
pattaya was just not an option after i first saw the water. did not even bother to do a test run or check the water up close. but my condo has a great rooftop pool so that made things easier.
beach scene in general in pattaya seems sketchy. did do some climbing on the rocks, but not about to venture out there in trunks for sunbathing or play in the sand. also not keen on paying to sit in a row of chairs. not my scene.
try samui or tarutau

Whatever floats yer boat. I don't have a problem with African girls. Some of them are stunners like any race and they probably offer something different from the oft-staid usual on those shores if you're into the mongering scene.
i find their assertiveness refreshing, in contrast to the demure thai ladies that just stand there like wallflowers and avoid eye contact.

love the baht bus system.
all they need is an automated pay machine in the passenger seat with a big partition between it and the driver.
the drivers side window can be smoked so you cant see in.
routes are easily found online.

your lucky it's on your elbow.
never shave your pubes, thighs or upper stomache area with a blade any days before sex. herpes and other nasty stuff is easily transmitted into areas where the blade may have shaved off upper skin areas going over small bumps while shaving of hair.

Note: 90% of Thai landlords will keep all or 80% of your one month deposit when you leave- does not matter that you left the rented condo more clean or in better shape than before you moved in. So do not pay for last month's stay. Sorry. but this rip- off scheme has happened to me three out of four land lords. I am use to Western tenants that would be happy if you left the apartment like new... but this is Thailand.
Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connectyou need to start using a property agent if deposits are not being returned. just negotiate down from the asking price to help cover the overhead.
i have noticed a reluctance to hand over cash at the end, but landlord always seems willing to apply the deposit to last months rent and utilities somehow.
something about forking over cash at the end i think it's a face thing, not sure. -

they are religious about their plastic bags and small receipts.
on an overcharge the clerk will give change and pretend to toss the receipt away like its not important. thats how you know something weird happened.

thailand is not really a 24/7 party destination like it may have been at one time.
even bars in pattaya are closing at 1:00 am these days.
your likely holding on to a nostalgic view of old movies and backpacker stories of yhe otient that were popular in the 70's and 80's

there seems to be two kinds of people regarding living and recreational situation
those who want quiet and left alone and those who want / need to be around others
took a walk to jomtien beach thee other day and contemplated how people could enjoy sitting on a crowded beach in a line of chairs 6 rows backs worth in dirty sand watching some other family eat chicken bones with bare feet
finally concluded that it did not matter why as i return to my quiet and relatively serene condo building more isolated near big buddha
you always go out just far enough so that necessities are available but people drop off. works for me most of the time. more people = more noise = more stress
unless you like crowded beaches in your thong, dirty sand, and chicken bones with no wastebasket or napkins
need to do more research on location next time. i feel for your current plight. only suggestion would be possibly break it up, month on month off, possibly short term letting. things may change eventually. floor fans are also great as white noise both day and night, that worked for me in bkk also can keep windows open that way. i had an industrial low to floor type that gave off a nice sound and strong flow and masked most noise.

10 days since Labour Day holiday and less than a month since Songkran. I am retired, so every day is a holiday for me, but this seems excessive. Is it normal accross South East Asia to have so many holidays?
yep, the constant holidays here are overkill.
most of them are kind of drawn out where people want to linger and not go back inside or too work (if they have a job) tacking on a before and after phase which makes them linger. they also tend to be kind of the same celebatory-wise imo with people just crowding/hanging around, drinking, being loud etc.
i stopped going out on public holidays and just wait for a regular day. that's plenty crowded and crazy for me. also i dont need to worry about closures. very similar to other things here which can seem overly enthusiastic making them potentially less meaningful and may therefore become irritating after awhile. -

"Nanny state" or not, without an initial "private-address" (relatives or friends), to take root again, = a nightmare scenario. "Lost Sons" returning from a tropical paradise will realize that nobody has been waiting for them, especially if their wallet is as thin as their future prospects in "the old country" upon their return.
exactly. in the usa returning without "credit" is a significant problem if you have been gone a long time. credit is king, not cash like in thailand.
getting an apartment, a job in any field, even cable tv is quite difficult without the credit history and score of paying bills over time. everybody looks at your credit history and extends services based on that, they are not interested in bank balances etc.
with a gap your looking at low class services like inability to rent a place, check cashing scams, anything can be done with big assets of course, but your still looking at big cash deposits for everything and the kind of hassles you dont get in thailand.
just this one point is worse then any visa hassle you may have here.
theres no winning. your just trading one basket of hassles for another. changing the topic of complaint if you will. oh well thats life.

sounds like you are leaving due to finances and not thailand.
did the system here somehow swindle you? would like to hear about how.
or was it you, your vices or the thais you chose to associate with who did the deed?
living in pattaya 13 years i suspect the former.
not judging, im leaving soon as well. never really like thais much and getting away from them seems impossible. but its not them thats the problem, its me. i acknowledge that.
from the ever present guards, neighbors, moto taxi guys, massage ladies etc my life has become more about dealing with and avoiding them, then it is about me.

i love uber because you can snag a driver that has a good review score.
i understand why thai taxi industry is so threatened by this. they will need to be honest and fair to survive now or starve. they really need to be part of uners review system to do that.
How safe to swim in sea?

many areas are not protected with protection, such as inner thighs, upper stomach and face.
