  1. An alternative could be Flashfish A601 portable power station, it has pass through and UPS function, but its expensive at 430 USD, and Lazada does not have that version. I can only guess at what the import duty would be.

Also, they charge 170 usd for a 100 W solar panel, and i need 3-4 of them, seems a lot.

In all the payback time becomes too long.

Ecoflow also does UPS, but more expensive

Bluetti may be able, if you manage it right

    Jackery cant

    Anker maybe

Ist gear ~55 km/h, 2nd gear ~65 km/h, 3rd gear ~80 km/h according to the speedo. The 'S' button will temporarily boost speed up in all gears by about 15 km/h or so for about 30 seconds before coming back down to the speed of the gear you are currently in.

I have to say I don't get the point of the mode/gears.

There is no difference in acceleration, it seems to work only a speed limiter.

  3. Just had another small issue.

On both sides of the rear wheel is a plastic/ gfrp cover. each cover is attached with two bolts, but on both the plastic had crumbled under one of the screws.

I filled the cavity with acrylic and bolted it back on. But gotta remember to give it a pull every now and then so if it wants of it will be in the driveway, not the road.

Also in half a mind to remove them.

Many "off grid" inverters do have a mains input so they can charge the batteries or power the load from the mains if there's no sun and the batteries are dead. These units cannot export. To the outside world they look like a battery charger, again perfectly legal to install. There is an advantage with going this way as the inverter itself provides the ATS facility.

Yes! That’s what I want. Can you recommend a small one?

regarding being sure it works to cut grid power, it’s one thing to have a new one work, but how about after 15 years, or a gecko finds it’s way in there.

  5. i am thinking about installing a small off grid system in the same house as we have a grid, and then have a switch where I can choose to draw from solar or from grid.

I see an automatic switch on Lazard’s (ATS Automatic Dual Power Transfer Switch 2P ) that will automatically switch when the batteries turn off.

Amorn solar has a battery kit for 19000 THB, get a second panel your out 22 k, and earning 2 kWh pr day, so you looking at a pay back time of about 2000 days. Not too bad, and you have a little emergency power in case of power out.

I do have a couple of questions I hope the forum can answer

I rent the house and don’t want to deal with MEA, and I don’t want to break the law or electrocute a lineman for 10 THB pr day. Does the switch legally and assuredly works as a off-grid system??

I have a small UPS so I won’t get interrupted during the switch, but can a UPS handle if the sinus waves from the grid don’t match with the ups sinus.??

  7. So just had a problem, the Deco Super Ace would not go. It lights up, but throttle did nothing. I contacted the dealer and he came the same day to pick it up, by night time he fixed it; a rat had chewed a cable. I took a taxi there and drove it home. Bill was 600 thb.

I forgot to report that last year it picked up an imbalance in the rear wheel. The dealer sent it to the factory, and they kept it for 3 weeks to fix it. Long time but no bill.

Would the Deco Ace be able to be fitted and have enough power with a side saleng?

Speed or normal driving would be between 35-50km/h max.

Use in Isaan for back n forth between village and to the farm on flat ground about 4km.

it is faster at 0-60 than my old Fino, so I would say it would have no problem pulling a sidecar.

Last I checked the range, a few months ago, it was still 7 km pr volt, up to 50 km.

But mind you I have only driven 2000 km since I got it. The roads here are dangerous for bikes.

  9. Found a dealer; EV rider in Nonthaburi, where i could test the Deco Super Ace and Sylla. I was expecting sluggish behavior but they have plenty of power for keeping up with the cars. 0-60 in 6 seconds, where the Fino is 7 seconds.
I’m actually confused by that, because if you divide the kinetic energy at that speed with the motors power it should be 12,5 seconds.

Anyway Sylla is taller and has a more comfortable seat, but I bought a super ace. Both feet flat on the ground seems more important for the short trips we will use it for.

I’ll get back if I get problems

  10. One more thing to consider is the value of a fossil bike 10 years or even 5 years from now, given the rate of improvement on batteries, and the pollution issues in major cities.

In some cities in China there are zero fossil bikes. I don't know if they have been banned or taxed, but its not unreasonable to think Thailand will follow the example.

  11. I have also been looking for an electric bike for some time, and it seems to me that Deco Super Ace, or Deco Sylla seems to be the best option presently.

At 49-52 k they are the same cost as a Fino, but they only cost 300 thb/5000 km to drive, where fino will cost 2500. No frequent oil change, and most importantly, you wont be making a great big racket as you drive down the village road. Might even hear the birds.

Fino has an engine of 7-8 kW, where Deco only has 2 kW, but electric motors usually have better torque at lower rpm, which you use most of the time. Only a test drive can tell you how it feels, and thats how far i got. Cant seem to find anywhere to test or rent one?

There is also Toyotron that has a few 3 kW motor versions, but at 85k, and lead-acid battery, its not competitive.

We may just have to wait for Gogoro to come to Thailand.

The S3 has 7,6 kW motor and will leave any 125 cc behind. Also has fast battery swap, but cost is almost 100k
