I like this size comparison - but I think it is actually not only that part of the body that is significantly more developed when it cums to electric and especially Chinese cars - but that would be sexist and hi-jack this thread into the gutter faster than I can hit 'enter'  😂🤣😇

I think it has more to do with fear of retaliation. Same for the German car companies, they are adamant not to introduce tariffs as their main business is in China. Conversely, the French would love to have tariffs in Europe as they would be able to kill to birds with one stone - damage the German's business in China, and protect their fledgling EV business in Europe.

    Couple of questions:

    1. Do the retaining holes of the driver side floor mat fit and clip into place? in my case, the floor mat holes are too small and cant clip into the pins, so the mat constantly moves.

    2. Do your cars make a 'farting noise' around 150km/h? I read this in a few forums on FB, so it seems to be pretty common. Cant believe in this day and age this could happen, although one guess is that the airflow is so maxed out to get to the cd 0.219, it probably takes next to nothing to lose the optimized air flow somewhere....... my guess is the leading edge of the roof glass.

    3. Do you follow the charging instructions per manual? always to 100%? and 10 to 100% every couple months? Because I charge from solar, I prefer to charge just for a few hours every day, but maybe that is not ideal.........

Floor mat saga continues: I finally got around to visit the dealer to check on my driver's side floor mat holes not fitting (not snapping into the plastic retaining pins). I went through cars in their showroom, one Seal and several Atto 3s - they all had the exact same problem: The holes in the carpet did not snap into the plastic pins, the holes are too small or the pins too fat. I checked some demo cars, all had the same problem. A tech was told to check my complaint, he was surprised by my problem (as in what is wrong with me!) of course could not fix it, shrugged his shoulders, and for him this problem was solved...... gawd I love these kind of staff!

Apart from realizing this is a mind blowing FUBAR, as it seems to me all BYD cars delivered to Thailand are afflicted with this fitment problem - it is a safety issue! I am just waiting for the first fatal crash stemming from a carpet blocking the brake pedal and a pedestrian or motorcycle driver getting killed........

Does BYD scan these boards? BYD was the 9th largest car producer in 2023, time to step up to the plate to play like the big boy...........that probably starts with denial that they have floor mats in their cars  🤪

My switchable 10, 16, 24, 32 amp EV Charger was dead this morning.

I spent a couple of hours installing the ABB one the Seal came with, quite impressed with it's flexibility, but a PITA to switch charging currents.

I sit in my office and move a slider on the app to change the charging current...... you must have hemorrhoids?  😂🤣

I have an Atto....a vehicle position selection does not appear on my BYD app.  For Android the app was just updated to ver 2.0.8 on 9 May 2024 which is the version on my phone.

Is the screenshot of that Dolphin owner based in Thailand?  Maybe, repeat maybe, the vehicle position selection is for Dolphins in other countries...it may not be model related at all....but country location related.

It was posted on a Thai EV group:

My app version is still 2.0.6

A Seal SUV in all but name, should fit in nicely here for those that prefer the Seal styling to the Atto but wanted a SUV.

Should compete with the Deepal SUV recently released.

What I really like about the BYD Sea Lion is they are employing rear wheel drive - it's just a much better vehicle dynamically.

  7. Xpeng CEO says he welcomes Tesla to bring FSD to China

    https://cnevpost.com/2024/04/29/xpeng-ceo-welcomes-tesla-fsd-china/

The Chinese EV industry welcomes any competition enthusiastically, conversely - US and European car companies are petrified of the Chinese competing in their markets, how odd!

'Tesla has great autonomous driving technology and brand, and only with the entry of more good products and technology can the whole market and customers have a better experience, Xpeng CEO said.'

What an odd concept to think that additional competition will benefit the customer - that is hilarious! As some posters on here cant repeat enough, they rather pay companies to enrich themselves instead of taking advantage of the rapidly expanding attractive products from China.

Yup - TSLA up 11%..........on a wing and a prayer!

What do you mean by this?

Lets say you want to go from BKK to Krabi - how often and where do you recharge?

Or for that matter any trip that pushes the range boundary, the car should offer several ideal scenarios for fastest re-charge vs. travel time optimizations. To no one's surprise, Tesla is the gold standard for this, but many other cars do quite well, too. BYD offers a black hole.
