  1. Just came from Vientiane with a new non-b-took about 6 business days. Check out the embassy Facebook page because they aren't accepting payments for a bit because of Thai overseas voting. You might want to go to Savanakhet instead -it may be different. If someone else has more info that'd be great. Just an fyi on my part.
  2. I don't often chime in , but this gets my goat. Thailand has been a steadfast ally if America for far too many years to be insulted in this manner.
  3. Update question. On the evisa website it now lists a 30K statement is needed or a sponsorship statement. My question is this - Has anyone had a school do their sponsorship letter (it's different from than the invitation letter) and have a successful application in lieu of a personal 3 month bank statement? If so, what information was on the sponsorship letter ( the Satit is very inexperienced with the procedure and I am just trying to navigate the process)? Everything else is fine.
  4. Thanks- I have been telling them that it's possible to change my visa status in-country because I have more than 20 days left on my visa exempt, but they are inexperienced with the process. There's another teacher that's willing to make the drive with me to immigration here to see if it's possible. That being said, if I have to go to Laos, how (which portal) are documents supposed to be uploaded to. Once I am in Laos, I understand that my Laos entry stamp must then be uploaded. Again, which portal?
  5. I am currently on a family extension (visa exempt) with 50 days left, and have been hired by a Satit (remote area), and would like some up to date information about the process of a obtaining a non-B visa through the Thai Embassy in Laos. Even though the Satit is under the next door Rajabhat, they don't seem too knowledgeable about the process. I know the process is done online, but how it's done and the list of documents needed to apply are my concern. I do not feel like being stuck in Laos because the application was incomplete. Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.
  6. This is what I did. I did the TM30 in person. TM 30- (I didn't need a lease. I just said I'm living with family.) In my case, the family Landlord id, House book Wife ID Wife House book Both marriage documents (Kor Ror 2 & 3)- front and back Data page of you passport Entry stamp/End date stamp TM 7 application w/passport photo Not sure what the numbers are, but you have to fill-in the two forms about overstaying. Also, there's a new form that they're having people fill out-Application for Extension of Temporary Stay (TM11) - this not the same TM11 "Appeal Against order to Leave the Kingdom Also, my wife was present along with the family homeowner. Signatures are needed individually and jointly depending on document.
  7. Everything is taken care of. I went with the family and did a new TM30, and was stamped.
  8. I had a tm30 but it was just for one day (today) at a hotel. I usually just stay at the family house (unreported), but immigration wants to see a 60 lease or agreement. Tomorrow the aunt will go with me and my wife to immigration with her housebook and ID, but in lieu of a lease agreement, I believe there's some sort of guarantor letter. I guess she has to fill out the tm30, but we don't have a lease agreement.
  9. Thanks for that. My wife's documents were fine. Unfortunately, immi wanted at least a 60 day lease agreement. I was wondering what paperwork (other than house book and id) would I need to stay at the family house. I am not talking a lease agreement, but rather a guarantor letter. The immi woman was nice, and family will go back with me to immigration tomorrow, but I've never done it before.
  10. I am going to try to get a two month family extension (it's been over a year since my last one), and I can't recall which documents I needed in order to do so. Can someone post the information? Thanks in advance.
  11. For a quick FBI Background check, I used Certifix. They give you a QR code and go to a UPS store to do livescans. I received mine in a few hours.
  12. Instead of starting a new thread, I have a related question. I just moved into a small shop house attached to my wife's business. My wife isn't the landlord. An extended family member is, so I need to know what docs. I need to register as a guest. I'm most likely only staying a month, but if I'm not registered somewhere during my stay, immigration may question me when I leave because they'll be no record of a TM30.
  13. Wow - what a statement. If you don't drink that's fine, but there's no reason to write that crap.
  14. Thanks -Yes, the gov. Website is the best, but because of my timeline I used a service (not sure if I can name the co. so I won't.). Yes, I paid 2x as much, but I rec. the paper in 2 days, and it has a personal touch for future ventures.
  15. It's been a few years and I can't find the visa company I used for Vietnam. Outside of the official gov. website does anyone have any recommendations? (US citizen)
  16. I think I have made that apparent about the visa exempt. I am in CNX, but will leave soon. The O (marriage w/o showing financials) gives me flexibility whereas paying 26k for retirement does not. Anyway, thanks for the input.
  17. @DrJack54 Chiangkhong gave me a bit of hassle on my 2nd exit. In my 25 years in and out of Thailand (living in-country for many years on different types of visas) was pretty harsh( never overstay, but I suspect my long history on the screen **** him off on that particular day. When I crossed over the next day, I had Mr. Happy happy. TIT, you never know.
  18. @DrJack54I am a bit leery about trying to do a 3rd visa exempt because I was read the riot act on my 2nd land crossing. Flying in = maybe. Still, want to know if Sav has the no financials option.
  19. Does Savannakhet still do the non-O (marriage) without requiring to show financials? If so, is what's listed in the OP the only documents you need? I understand that you have to book an appt. like Vientiane (e-visa starts next year). FYI- USA-came in on a 30 day exempt/extended, family ext., and two land border crossings(Laos), so a tourist visa or a non-o w/o showing financials seems like my best bet in either Savannakhet or Penang. I'm only planning on staying 4 more months. In retrospect I should've paid an agent in CNX for a visa based on retirement when I first arrived. Thank you for reading.
  20. You were found guilty of a crime, so more than likely it will appear on the police report that your employer would formally request. And so - what minor driving offense are we talking about? If, for example, you were speeding on a motorbike, no-one's really going to care. However, if you were streaking on a motorbike, well that's a bit more problematic.
  21. FWIW- just did the Chiang Khong crossing and 60 day stamped. Told Laos Imm. that I was just doing a turn-around, so there was no paperwork/photos needed (always good to be over prepared)-2k baht(believe it can be cheaper w/agent). BTW, if you have never been to Chiang Khong, it's worth staying for a day or two. Easy bounce.
  22. They were warned, and did not heed the warning. They caused the manager to lose face. Remember, this wasn't a beer bar, but a very reputable establishment. They will now face the consequences. I have no sympathy.
