  1. This string arguing wether dark is beautiful vs ?? .. it pretty pathetic.. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and Who”s to judge someone when your not looking through there eyes..

As for Mr single good on you.. but I wonder what’s got up your nose that you so condemning of some very beautiful women.. it’s quite a chip your carrying.. I wonder are you attractive and through who’s eyes that may be? I’d be interested to hear about your hobbies as they obviously occupy a large percent of your spare time.... and apparently fully engage you..... maybe a bad previous experience has sent you running to hills??

  2. Hi Gentlemen,

I can across a guy yesterday who  recommended that i go to Savannakhet rather than Vientiane. He said i can get an O Visa for a year  from Savannakhet, where as i can't from Vientiane.......Is there any truth to this?, Would you guys recommend doing this so i can get a longer visa.I understand i can still extend after 3 months then at 5 months i must exit and re enter, and then every 90 days.

    Thanks IssanDad

  3. UbonJoe thank you.

So they only need to see a copy of the house book its not necessary for them to sight the original.

My experiences while i was getting my extension at Chang Watana. Has left me a little weary of last minute requirements. They wanted me to prepay my month by month accommodation to the end of the extension period, and we also had a discussion about financial resources. But all was good with daughters Thai paper work.

Which is why i want to turn up at Laos with everything covered.

  4. Yes i understand I'm applying for the O Visa. But whats makes me ask the question is when i extended my O Visa at Chang Watana, they wanted accommodation receipts to show accommodation was prepaid up until the end of the new extension, they and also ask about financial resources.

I ended up having to provide prepaid receipts for my accommodation and they only verbally discussed money. Which i said was in my Ausy bank account and i drew down from a local ATM as i needed to.

  5. So then my understanding would be that i tell them i am going to be working as a teacher or i don't mention this?

I need a copy or original house (have copy already) book,  i have original birth certificate already.

Also just check the thai embassy web site laos and they apparently are asking for "proof of of financial guarantee"

Which means what exactly. Is a print out of my NAB bank statement from Internet banking in  Australia ok?

Want to make sure i have all documents ready before i go.

  6. The Non O visa i got in Australia was a very easy process, i showed them a photo copy. (Actually a scan on my Ipad) of her birth certificate. Would the Thai Embassy in Laos be the best place to apply for a new O Visa. What will the requirements be there and what documents am i most like to need? What is the financial resources requirement if I'm going to be teaching. The O Visa to work permit process i presume is done at Chang Wantana?

  7. Most schools are starting first May  and then some mid May from what i understand. Would it be better to go for the simplest process and  get a Tourist Visa. (is this 15 or 30 days) then to extend at Chang Watana for another 30. This would save me some money reduce the document requirments and buy me enough time for school documents to allow me to apply for the Non B. I have not done the legitimization process yet. Although the mother is not present she has continuously let me have access to any documents i have needed including, Her original Birth certificate, House Book, etc, immunization book, she also helped me get her thai passport and paid for it. She is in some way happy that our daughter is happy and with her Dad, maybe is softens her guilt i don't know.

  8. Gents,

Your help, advice and wisdom will be much appreciated. I have been here 5 months looking after my daughter, mother not in the picture.

I am currently on an  O Visa extension that is due to expire on the 2 of May. I originally arrive on a 3 month single entry O Visa. I then had it extended by 60 days at Chang Wantana immigration Office. while in the background I have been madly chasing teaching jobs. The  interviews are slowly rolling in. But not fast enough as  I was hoping that i would ideally have a school contract in hand by now. Then i could have made a quick run to Laos to apply for a Non B visa with school documents, etc at the Thai Embassy. Unfortunately due to the interview and  appointment process  takings time. I'm starting to panic as  May 2nd 6 days from now is rapidly approaching. I dont have a huge amount of money as i have been funding my daughter and i for five months already with out working.

I desperately need to get a job so i can continue to take care of her. Her mother abandoned her in Issan with the grandparents 10 months ago, she is now 3 years 2 months. I had returned to Australia at that time due visa and funding issues. She's been  extremely happy living with me and we have been getting on fantastically. She has come along way in the last 5 months in areas of socialization and speaking english etc.If my plan goes well she will start Anubahn mid may. a bit of background information, sorry for my digression.

Bottom line is what do you guys reckon the best advice, or best path to take, so i can bridge my time here till i have secured employment and can convert to a Non  B visa.

Your combined first hand experiences here as resident of Thailand and as knowledgeable members of Thai-visa forums will be very gratefully appreciated.

    Best Regards

    IssanDad
