  1. I take 10 mg Alfuzosin (Xatral) and 5 mg of Tadalafil (Cialis) daily with good success. Either one alone is not effective. I’ve been taking this combination for 10 years.

I added Saw Palmetto for a year with no noticeable improvement.

I tried Tamsulosin with Tadalafil for 3 months, but went back to Alfuzosin with Tadalafil because of the ED side effects.

  2. I posted yesterday that I called BOI regarding my wealthy pensioner application that has been pending since October 4.

Today I received an email requesting additional information, specifically a 1099-R form for 2021. I found this to be a strange request as my pension and IRA distributions are listed on my 2021 1040 tax return which they already have. I sent the 1099-R form for IRA distributions as that met the $80k requirement. I was also going to send 1099-R for the pension I receive, but the system would only accept one form.

  3. +1 on the John Burdett books. I’ve also enjoyed the Poke Rafferty series by Timothy Hallinan that are set in Bangkok.

  4. My wife and I fly back to the US annually to visit family and friends. We normally fly business class for the reasons already mentioned.  Based on your planned travel dates you should be booking now.  Don’t rely on search engines only. Some airlines have web specials for business class tickets that the search engine will not list. Flying East to West we have gotten good fares in the past with Qatar Air and Turkish Air.  Good luck.

  5. I used my wife as my dependent for the last 2 years for her retirement extension in Phuket. For those extensions we used a non-Thai certified marriage license. To be on the safe side we will do this process for her next extension.  A few more questions if you don’t mind:

What exactly are we certifying with the blank affidavit?  Are we stating that the marriage certificate for xxxx and yyyyy married on (date) is a valid document?  Do both of us have to sign the affidavit?

We will need to make the trip from Phuket to Bangkok to do this.  We are not familiar with Bangkok.

Can someone recommend a hotel or general location to stay that is convenient to the US Embassy, the Thai Consulate and translation services?

Can someone recommend a translation service that is on Google Maps?  How much time should we allow for the affidavit translation to be completed?

What does the “MFA” Consular Affairs Department of the MFA stand for?  Where is it located?  Do you need an appointment?  How much time should we allow to have this done?

I appreciate any information that can be provided.  I can see this is going to be painful and expensive.

  6. A few weeks ago we had a voltage spike in our home which damaged an electronic device.  I had to send the electronic device to Japan for repair.  The estimated cost to repair the component is $300.  For repairs like this should I have to pay both customs fees and VAT when it is shipped back to me in Thailand?

  7. My wife and I are US citizens.  We each entered Thailand with a Non-Immigrant O-A retirement visa in April 2016.  We are preparing for our first 1 year extension of stay as our current stay expires in February 2018.  I have a notarized letter from the US Embassy with my pension information and a seasoned Thai bank account with the required 800,000 Baht if needed. My question regards the extension for my wife, specifically what documentation will she need to show adequate funds.  Will a copy of my notarized pension letter and a copy of our marriage certificate be sufficient?  If not, what is needed?  I would rather get an extension for her instead of a dependents visa, if at all possible.

  8. I retired to Thailand on a multiple entry non-immigrant O visa obtained outside of Thailand in 2016.  The visa has expired and my passport stamp permits me to stay in Thailand until February 2018.  I have since purchased and used one single re-entry permit.  I recently found out I will need to make an unexpected trip outside the country in December.  Will I be able to purchase a second single re-entry permit for this trip?  If not what is the best way of handling this. Cancelling the trip is not an option.
