  2. Re Chaengwattana Immigration and marriage extensions:

    1. Can anyone who's done one at CW lately confirm UJ's post above that CW does not require bringing along witnesses?

    2. And, does CW Immigration typically do application pending home visit inquiries or not?  And if so, does it matter if one's wife is usually away at work during normal business hours M-F, as opposed to staying around the house?

I just did my extension in Si Racha. We didn't bring any witness while visiting the immigration. Since we are traveling the next day to China, a house visit has scheduled the same afternoon. They told us to find two witnesses with a copy of their hose book and ID. Luckily we found two condo managers to help us to be the witnesses.

  3. Sheryl,

Outstanding information.  I would never had known this but for your postings.  Unbelievably helpful.

One more question please.  What would your opinion be for my wife?  She did 16 years in the Navy but did not retire.  She is 61 and she uses Tricare at present.

She was with me in Pattaya during April-May 2018 visit and will be visiting Thailand with me later on in the year.

    Thanks Again.

P.s.  Appreciate the cervical spine part.  I will discuss with my provider in my yearly physical on Monday.

If you're qualified for Tricare, you could call them before your travel dates to switch to Tricare overseas select, the coverage will begin on the dates you provided.

  4. I don’t know how Thai insurance company will handle this. But US insurance company will pay you to fix the small spots as long as smaller than a dollar bill. Before I came to Thailand, my windshield got hit by a small rock on the highway that caused 2 small crack spots next to each other. I went to a windshield repair place in Norfolk, it’s fixed in an hour and the totally cost is $75, and the insurance picks up $70. If the windshield need to be replaced, I would have to pay $1000 deductible.

I have cars and bikes in my name, haven't had a wp in over 15 years, never had a yellow book,
last bike brought 4 years ago, last car 2 .  On a Retirement extension
What the new regulation is saying is a WP IS NEEDED and if ur on a marriage or retirement extension ur shit out of luck and a  certificate of residence is not enough

Will find out in 3 days, when I get my new truck registered.

  6. My wife brought a townhome in Sriracha back in 2010. Since we are not living in Thailand at that time, so we used her sister’s name to get a mortgage for the unit, but we paid the down payments and all monthly payment. Now I want to paid off the mortgage, but I want to change the ownership back to my wife ‘s name before I do so. Is there a way to avoid paying transfer taxes?
