  1. Just tried to place a 1200b supplement order on iHerb. Shocked to see that shipping has more than doubled from my last order to over 500b. Anyone else experiencing this?

Sent iHerb an email where they just responded with some bs that they have modified their arrangements with their shipping partners.

    Wow, that is fantastic.

Can they invent one that allows you to eat with the mask still attached?

Maybe one that automatically opens a small space so you can stuff your pie hole, then closes after a bite.

Could be a real invention coming.

Yes, and maybe one for picking your nose too!

However, foreigners need to be aware that they are still required to inform immigration if they change address permanently. [This is covered in form TM27].

I relocated within Jomtien jurisdiction in Jan and obtained a new TM30 as required. How are they going to know if you submitted a TM27 or not? Since I moved, I've renewed my extension and obtained a cert of residency last week with nothing said Abt be any TM27.

  4. Just a heads up for anyone buying or selling a used motorbike. I'll try to keep this short.

Been searching for a used motorbike. Found one I was fairly confident I was going to buy in a local Pattaya bike shop.

Thought I would do myself a favor and get my residency certificate (CoR) from immigration before I went back to the bike shop to finalize the deal.

Gathered copies of passport, visa, TM6 etc and copy of my lease contract, 2 passport photos. Went to Jomtien Immigration and completed the application form BUT girl at front desk gave me a tiny little paper listing doc requirements (attached).

Doc list says, must have document package from the seller in order for me to get CoR. Now I hadn't bought the bike yet so I'm thinking <deleted>! Isn't this getting the cart before the horse? I think certainly this can't be the case, so I go ahead and get a number to desk 9 I believe, wait a few minutes, get called, turn in my app and documents less the purchase docs and NO! Must have doc pck from seller.

Ok off I go back to bike shop (good thing I went to in early!). Finalized the bike deal. Bike shop gave me a receipt for the purchase (but I didn't pay at this point), a copy of the Green Book, and I took 2 photos with my phone. Off to copy shop to print out photos. Back to immigration, get number wait in que, get called, pay 300b (no receipt). Wait another 20 mins.

    Finally, got my CoR!

    Wow, that was easy.

Consultation will cost about 2000 baht assumin no scans or xrays.

if meds are prescribed DO NOT get them at the hospital, make note of what they are (probably just paracetemol or an NSAID) and ask them to take it off your bill. then buy at an outside pharmacy,.

If your funds are extremely limited and you don't mind long waits and red tape, Queen Sirikit Naval Hospital in Sattahip has competent orthos and is less expensive.

Thanks Sheryl. Advice on any meds noted.

Have you received any feedback on the Dr suggested?

  7. Was walking last Saturday, stepped up onto a large curb and something popped in my right calf muscle. Felt like someone kicked me in the back of my leg. Was able to still walk, albeit with pain, but got myself home and put ice on it. Never had a muscle pop like that before.

Three days out still painful to walk normally but only minor swelling. No visible abnormality can be seen.

Was thinking of getting it checked out by an Orthopedist.

Can onyone recommend a good Orthopedist in the Pattaya area?

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for all the replies.

About the farang is always wrong: Recently I had a small accident were a Thai guy with a scooter made a U turn at the same place where I did that U turn. His bike scratched my bike. I had just a little paint on my front axle, he had a big scratch on his new red scooter. We stopped at the next police box. The officer asked me and he asked him and he more or less convinced the guy that he was wrong. So it seems sometime the police do a good and fair job.

Back to the problem: What do you do to avoid situations like above? I look relative often in the mirrors and don't make any big unnecessary moves. But in above case a little move could have been deadly. It seems there is basically nothing to prevent an accident like that - and that is scary.

You could catch up with the guy who wizzed by you and ask him where he got his amulets?

If they might want to see 65,000 from overseas every month why were they ok with the income letter from the embassy for the last 18 years? Yes I did say 18 years......And why are they still ok with the income letter from all embassies except 4? Yes I did say ALL other embassies..

And why was income from any source ok?....There must be a lot more than a few farang that get income from property rental in Thailand and Thai stocks......Not accepting income from Thailand would be telling farangs to never invest in Thailand.....

So I not buying the 65,000 has to come from overseas....There is no history to support this at all..And it would scare farangs away from investing in Thailand....

And there is certinly no requirement for it in Thai Immigration Law for retirement extensions.

Change clean/ aircon and your problem is fixed.  I usually also leave the window a bit open when using aircon. You have many areas in Thailand where the climate is much colder in nighttime and you would want to have a heater instead..

But your sore throat is all about getting a better aircon.

Nonsense, just prevent it from blowing on you directly.

I was in the same situation as you, renting a house in Nonthaburi and first time let to a farang..

You need a copy of her ID card front and rear, crossed and marked in Thai, for Immigration purposes, and signed by owner. Same with a copy of owner's House Book, crossed, and signed by owner..

Form, Name of Aliens in Residence, you complete the form and have owner sign it, and finally form of Notification from House Master, Owner or the Possessor of the Residence where Alien has Stayed..

This form needs to be completed by the owner..

Take the two forms and photocopies of house book and owner ID card.. Make certain that all four have the owner's signature on them.. Easy peasy..

Sorry for the stupid question but what do you mean by "crossed".

Is that like an 'X' or line drawn across the ID or Book, and what is it for?

I provided only the ID and House Book WITHOUT owner signature (or cross?) and have not had a problem using it at Jomtien.

Having said that, I have read of other onerous IO's requiring the signed versions as you indicated, especially if owner is falang.

Stories like this are really very disturbing. I wish everything can be setlled for pkspeaker.

The image of friendliness and common sense of the Jomtien Immigration has been one of the reasons to decide to move near Pattaya. Has this changed recently ? I would want to come with a non-immigration-O and extend based on retirement. Live in a condo with foreign ownership for which I have a rental contract already.

Or do I really need to consider a Thai Elite Visa just because of preventing hassles that seem to be more likely now in Jomtien ? Need definitely to decide in one month.

I extended a Non-O last May, based on retirement at Jomtien. Dont know if anything has changed since then but i had only:

    Lease contract

    Copy owner Blue Book (Thai)

    Copy owners ID

    + financials and pspt copies

    Had no problem.
