The constant repetition of insulting state sponsored schemes to rid tourists of money just becomes tiresome.
Thailand is seriously hurting due to the absence of international tourist yet complete imbeciles are still trying to figure out ways to scheme more money from the very people it wants to attract.
So often I’m astonished by the outrageously flawed mindset of those in positions who come up with this stuff.
When I read news such as this I draw the opinion that Thailand doesn’t deserve tourists, but sadly it is the general population who would be hurt, while those in positions of power dream up more schemes from which to graft and skim funds.
In all countries there is an entry and exit fee collected as a tax on the airport charges.
I for one don't begrudge this charge.

It will be exponentially spreading now if the incubation period really is 10 to 14 days from the initial cases in Mae Sai and Maha Chai.
Not necessarily because the government acted fast and because of small numbers they have contact traced well.

You have a political agenda that also includes your anti vaccination position. As such, you have no interest in discussion of the Covid19 crisis. This is just another opportunity for you to push your political and social views. Yours is a US centric position.
This disease is not about the death rate, and never has been. It is about the cost of the infection itself. Covid 19 fills hospital beds and ICUs and it leaves large numbers of patients with long term damage. Because it is a highly infectious and complex illness, it requires hospitals to follow specific protocols and to divert resources and personnel that in turn necessitates the suspension of activities that put vulnerable patients at risk. Because of its ability to cause physical harm, if left unchecked it will disrupt the economy and cause shutdowns that would last far longer and be more extensive than the limited actions that were enacted to slow the spread of the disease.
No one who has understood and agreed with the limited measures taken in respect to the social distancing required, discounts the impact that such measures will have on society. The problems you are referring to are in large part specific to the USA economy. Other developed countries have taken exceptional measures to care for their general population and we do not see such problems in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Portugal, France etc.
Yes, there are unemployed people, but there are now also new job opportunities. Yes some businesses have gone bankrupt. Many of them were already in serious trouble and it was only a question of time for some of them. People were not shopping at malls or big box stores long before Covid19. The economy is changing and we will adapt.
However, I do note that Trump has been emphasizing that there will be a rash of suicides due to the economic situation. This is his new talking point which you have obviously lapped up and now regurgitate for us here. Please share with us the data in respect to this explosion of death.
Fantastic explanation of the true problem. Thank you

I was there yesterday and can confirm there was a queue before going up the escalator. I went to Fast Track because of my age and even there it took almost 30 minutes but can confurm that almost all desks were open. Just a lot of people.
Most were tourist heading home after an enjoyable time.

For me a direct flight is better than saving a relatively small amount. Depending on where in europe you are flying to I recommend EVA AIR. New aircraft, good service and on time performance.

I have just had my birthday party 20 people at Ban Rim Naam Chan Klan road. Great food. service and music. Next to the river.

Firstly is your will in Thailand or your home country? I believe that Thai property must be covered by a Thai will.
Secondly just invest a little money to give assurance. Take your wife and dissenting relatives to a Thai lawyer and get the legalities explained to them

I have used Skype for years and the latest IOS version is ****. I deleted it and went back to a previous version and stopped auto updates so it is still working as before for me.
The main reason for using it was that I had a Skype number so my many friends who do not use anything other than phone can call me anywhere in the world. Do any others offer that service both on windows and IOS ?

I currently rent in Riverside and love it. Its an old building but well built and rental prices are good. The studio's are 46m2. The staff are really nice too. Great location.
The problem with cash is that there has been no increase in management fees for years but hopefully will be doubled later in the year. But still less than half of any other condo buildings.

Hi Kenny. I think johng was referring to the guy who sold me the car. You are right about the letter of course. The seller says that I could get the letter the same day. I couldn't! I am sure his reccomendation re a "fixer" is right. I will do that next week. I would prefer to do the right thing.
-
I know what you mean. In Chiang Mai it now takes at least 2 weeks and normally longer to get the letter. This is what happened to me;-
"
I am writing for advice as to how to complete the registration of a car in Chiang Mai. I purchased a car in February from a UK citizen but because immigration at Chiang Mai takes at least 2 weeks for the letter of residency could not register the car before my return to the UK. My time is divided between Thailand and the UK. All of the sale and purchase documents are dated on the day of sale.
When I returned to Chiang Mai in April I obtained the "letter" after almost 3 weeks because of national holiday holidays.
I followed the procedure to register and Change the car at DLT Chiang Mai from Bangkok, paid the tax and was given a date to collect the new plates which was the day after I returned yet again to the UK.
My friend went to collect the plates. He was told that as the vendors visa was now out of date I would need to get a copy of his new visa or a certified letter of sale. I contacted the seller who is now back in the UK and he has refused either of these things saying I acted in a "mai pen rai " manner in not registering the car also saying that the "letter" is issued same day. This is not the case.
Any advice from members would be gratefully received. Oh and and I am still in the UK until 5th July."
The car remains unregistered wit a desperate owner.

Advise the registered owner that he remains the registered owner and that if the car was to be involved in an accident and no one took responsibility (there was no one at the scene when the police arrive), it will be the registered owner that has the problem.
Not really a threat, but should assist with changing his mind.

I have tried every way to persuade him. He just says no and i am lying. Has now blocked all contact avenues.
It must have happened before and be a solution. Getting desperate as I return to
Chiang Mai soon.

3 weeks ago I got a 90k baht discount on New pickup. Didn't take the credit option. I got an offer from another province then shopped around locally and said I would buy today.
