I don't think TW works in that direction (pls correct if this has changed).  He would have to use Dee Money, a crypto-currency exchange, or something else.

They used to offer the Visa, then the Union Pay only - finally they are offering a MC (started Dec 18).  I got one, and can pay USA companies with it ok.  I haven't tried it in foreign ATMs, but should work.

Cindy have the mastercard debit, it works fine online and it worked at Walmart in the US but will not work at any atm..

Don't get too excited... Nothing new. OP is very misleading. IO head only said the letters were not required and 800k bank account method was accepted. He DID NOT say monthly income method without income letter was accepted. See his quote below...

Of course this letter is no longer needed if the embassy no longer issues it,” Col Archeep explained to The Phuket News today (Nov 22).

“However, the foreigner applying for the visa (or permit-to-stay) will still have to prove that they have the funds to stay in the country, such as by showing bank statements that prove the foreigner has B800,000 in a Thai bank account,” he said.

My interpretation of said quote defers to the 2 key words “such as” this presumably means they except more than just the 800k method.. such as 65k of monthly income..

There is no information related to any change on the US Embassy Website- everything the same as it has always been.

If Thai Imm will accept an income stream- 65K per month- one can simply take  65K per month out of a Thai ATM from a US bank and deposit it in a Thai Bank and use the money to live on and then the next month put another 65K in and  do the same. Back up info is Pension letters and US Bank statements showing direct deposit.

We need more info on all this from Thai Imm.  As we all know each IO has their own interpretation of the 'rules'.

I personally have my social security check directly deposited into my BK bank account from the U.S. government. Then update my passbook. Showing minimum of 65k..

You would not need to go to immigration unless you wanted their opinion on whether you need a new one or not.

As ubon Joe can attest I had the same thing happen last week ... I went to immigration to get a residence certificate, told her what happened all the stamps were blurry but she said no problem, my tm6 was destroyed and my 90 day receipt also..she said fix on next 90 day...

Farangs are not allowed to work in Thailand unless it is a teaching job. And I'll wager you aren't playing your instrument strictly for the fun of it.

I play with my instrument for fun everyday, well not everyday, well a couple times a week.. sometimes more when the gf is in the mood..

Not it is not one. A certificate of residency is done on a sheet of A4 paper and has a photo your attached.

There is a separate office for doing them at the Promenada immigration office (500 baht for same day service).

Ubonjoe, I have a question sir. I moved last Saturday to a townhouse. The owner has never rented to a foreigner before. I advised my girlfriend to explain to her she was required to do a tm30. She said never done, don’t know no can do.. what are my options..at this time I’m way out in nong prue without transportation getting to jomtien early in the morning would require moto taxis and multiple bhat bus connections I’d have to go the day before and get a room..I noticed on the form the owner signature is needed. Help....

You can use gross income on the income letter. Immigration do not expect to see all of your income to be coming into the country.

I cannot recall any reports of Sakon Nakhon asking for a bank book as backup proof for what is on the letter.

Mr. Joe..I was thinking or moving my direct deposit of my pension directly to Bangkok bank. If I use the NY office will it still have to be transformed to my branch in Pattaya or just go directly in my account.

    Exactly!

Someone standing or walking carrying a water gun is obviously happy for a 'water-fight' - whereas it's downright dangerous to throw water at people on 'bikes.

Especially old folks like me..1. 55k with of hearing aids ruined..2. a good dosing of ice water can induce a heart attack.. 3. and as mentioned earlier illnesses from filthy water or chemicals..

It's Pattaya. The agents fee will include tea money (usually around 15k baht) to pay for the change of visa status (this usually takes about 4-6 weeks, during which time the passport is retained by immigration), one year extension based on retirement and a multi re-entry permit all included on the return of the passport, without having to apply separately for the extension during the last 30 days of the non O visa.

Not at all...I used an agent it took 18 days to process and return to me...and for you nay sayers, I have been to jomtein 2 times for re-entry permits and everything passed muster..

Have you looked at the Zenni website?  Very good quality at lower price in frames that fit our oversized heads.  Many people have reported getting good service and glasses from them - I have ordered 4 times for myself and wife over the last decade and very happy with price/quality.

Wait, my head's not oversized... Hang on, maybe I'm confused. Which head?:shock1:

Many foreign men married to Thai women will tell you they are subjected to constant criticism .  Try to defend yourself and you are accused of starting an argument .  Many of us try to be too kind and gentle with these women , they need a strong partner to keep them in line , make them understand who's boss .

Of course, we all know who the boss is...:shock1:

Considering the fact that English is not my native language, I think I am doing quite well. For this, I should get praise, admiration and applause.

And what do I get? A lesson in advanced English grammar! No wonder, minority Farangs (non native English speakers) jump off basement balconies in Pattaya.

"Sharper than a serpents tooth, is a thankless poster"..........:partytime2:
    Cheers.

    :sleepy:. Well said, and grammatical..

I did not give permission...what, wait...oh, that isn't me I wear shorter shorts... Like it or not, agree or not, I think what Dad taught me has some truth. You are judged by your appearance. I do think it depends to the environment. I just gave away my suits and all but 1 sport coat. Simply have little to no need for the dress shirts and ties I wore in teaching daily in the states. Hmmm, 5 pair of dress shoes also seem to be taking up room needlessly.

I agree, and o make sure the Indians Hawking suits understand...now I can walk down beach road shop side without getting hassled, now to work on the massage girls..:saai:
