  1. I never carried my passport with me, kept in the safety in my room but i always had my state id card with me.
I am a smoker, i was walking down the lower Sukhimvit road in Bangkok, i did not find any place to trash my cigarette away. I dont throw it anywhere in my home country and i dont do it in Thailand either.
I carried the smoke butt with me until i saw a water or sewage drainage i dumped in it, a cop saw me doing it, -- actually i was probably asking for it, because i was watching them that they were pulling over motorbikes and i was laughing at them --, he asked me i had my passport with me. I said NO. He made sure that i had thrown away my cig butt
I didnt deny and told him tha i didnt see any ashtray to put it out for at least 2 miles walk.
Anyways, they checked my id, gave me 500 THB ticket, and he told me that max penalty is 2000 THB. I paid to the officer right there, we were in peace.
I didnt have to tell them my passport in the safety at my room.

  2. This puts spot light on genuine cases. They will be harassed for sure, when they report it.

I want to understand one thing about this news, im sure someone will explain.
So, these people they got robbed or lost their possessions claiming from the insurance. What insurance? Do they insure their possessions before they travel? My understanding is that they insure everything, cash money, Jewelries, cameras, whatever they have and pay for them before they travel, is that how it works? I travelled many countries in the world, never insured anything except i bought travel health insurance. Please someone enlighten me. I cannot imagine any insurance company will insure cash money...

  3. When you marry a Thai woman, do you actually marry everyone in the family tree? I was reading earlier that in some cases you have to marry the entire village as well. Eff that marriage.

I trust my wife and her married children, but when "nephews" was mentioned I have to think, what would they gain. My wife would gain a bundle but she's known this for years and she'll get over 50 K Baht a month from Uncle Sugar (deferred retirement pay), so has no worries. I'll keep on the lookout for strange Nephews.
