People who seek criticise the lifestyle of others without having experienced that lifestyle do so out of ignorance....nothing personal just a fact
Your attempts to garner response to your posts are at best cumbersome.....but keep rattling away
I've done the whole bar thing and enjoyed it in my younger days, I just found something better......not believe me....get out of the bar off your computer and try harder
And drinking lao khao with a bunch of inbred hillbilies is the way to go!? ever wondered why your new extended family all have huge bolt on wing nut ears?
I bet when you saw this scene you never thought you would be living it https://youtu.be/gsC4kf6x_Q0

How ironic that the jungle dwellers seeking to escape society and go into hiding only to crave communication on an expat forum with those they despise.
You can't make that shit up [emoji23]

What a strange post. Sure beats the other option of living your life in a jungle and communicating only via the virtual world with a keyboard.I see so hanging out in a Bah Farang, smoking fags, drinking beer, and talking footie is to be considered contact with the outside world?
That's called depression and waiting to die. [emoji24]

Nope! Each to their own and enjoy it.
Same answer as above. Each to their own. The only sad thing is your calling others "anti social outcasts" because they don't fit into your box.
Your in denial. It's not called a box it's called society.
Outcasts and loners is the correct terminology
Actually now I think of it it's terms used to describe domestic terrorists and serial killers ?

I'm shocked to see the number of anti social outcasts on this thread. Quite a few in denial as well
No good blaming other farangs for your isolation. You don't fit in and you need to look inwards for the answer.
Sad to see people escaping near a jungle to get away from fellow man.

My 71 year old mother can get into those longtails, but it is not always easy. You will get wet that is for sure, no way you can stay dry 100%. All the stepping and moving requires a bit of agility sometimes there are people there who will help you to pull you on or help you off.
If this all worries you too much you might not be the type of person that should do this. I don't know how disabled you are but if the prospect of doing this worries you it might not be the best thing to do. I included a picture so you can understand what kind of steps we are talking about.. depending how deep it is it can be that you need to wade more or longer.
Like your mum I would prefer to be a fit 71 year old rather than have a disability.
Anybody with weakness in the legs eg.. Nerve damage can walk well on the footpath but climbing in and out of Longtails or trying to board a boat in rough weather will be a struggle with potential for injury.
Often your required to get off a ferry and jump into a Longtail not a big jump but still got to balance your feet on the boat railing and hop on in . No place for even the mildly disabled

I believe they are all on free to air Thai tv if you can watch with Thai commentary.
Could be worth checking out those free radio stations on the internet. Could be a station somewhere doing audio

Obviously I was imagining it when I was told I couldn't have pakapow moo on Railay or alcohol on Phi Phi yesterday. Lucky you are here to correct me.
Nonsense phi phi is a big party island.
The only reason you may be turned away is if you are Indian or Pakistani
They don't want you nursing a small beer for 4 hours. Sorry but that's reality. Pattaya go go bars are ruthless when turning away Indians

Learn the local language. Living anywhere and not speaking the language is going to make it hard to meet locals. Dont be one of those sad foreigners who cant speak Thai and has no local friends.
Nonsense my condo is in Nana, I holiday Pattaya phuket and chiang mai and never needed more than a few phrases.
You sound like you live in a jungle village where you damn well better know your thai!!!

Not for you or me for sure.
But, depends on the reason for them.
I do know some guys that have lived a very hectic life maybe in a big city and someway, living on a farm seems appealing. Having land with animals/crops to take care of.
Then there are the ones who are talked into it by their gf or wives. They want to be close to family, etc. and the girls convince them to make the move.
Then there are those that may be running from something. Who knows why, but they want to generally be away from people.
I actually think it is more of the second one. TG influenced life.
But if people are happy then God bless them and please try to enjoy a good life.

Has failure written all over it. What they need is a hobby farm or a house with a big yard for veggie patch chickens ducks rabbits etc. I grew up in one and it was great but living in a village? I stayed at my grandfather's remote village in the mountains of Bosnia and loved it but on day 10
I was making excuses to get the hell out lol

Select an educational path which leads to a career which provides for your desires. Of course, you do need the wherewithal to figure it out. As my old grandpappy used to say, "Son, you have to be smarter than the problem."
Why are you so successful and ended up living on farm ?

While I truly love living in Thailand on balance, it is one of the more boring places I've ever visited or lived. As someone said earlier in the thread, it's a monoculture. Anyone who knows a bit of Thai history knows that the country went through a few hundred years of forcing Central "Thai" culture on the many varied peoples of the former Siam.
The towns and architecture and language and good vary very little from one part to the next. All peoples of Thailand must assimilate to the Thai Borg. All must be same: Thai
You havnt been to Pattaya ?

I was a big wine drinker in oz but over here I prefer to put Vodka in grape juice, same color. They can shove their wine tax!
If only all farang would stop visiting the wine section things may one day in 5 years or so start to get real.

There are only 2 tourists attractions in Pattaya, Soi 6 and walking St. Still beats the hell out of hanging by a muddy river getting mauled by mosquitoes.Go upcountry and get as far away from Pattaya as you can. Travel along the Mekong, it's beautiful and there are very few tourists. All my Thai friends ask me why would I bother to go there, there's nothing there. Well that is precisely it! No big mango, no fake floating market or obscenely overdone temple, no 'Tuscan' housing village etc. etc. Enjoy.- 2

Forget about wasting your time getting this sorted from OS
They want you there for one reason only, so they can lock you up and the extortion begins and a lot more than 30k,!- 12

You would need a loud speaker and banners set up on Sukhumvit blasting anti junta propaganda to get deported.
You are not a citizen of this country.. The Junta here don't fear your opinions, cause if you step over the line, they will just deport you.
Thai people on the other hand are certainly being oppressed, locked up for opinions and have their rights abused..
Your post is stupid fear mongering.
